Public transport in Copenhagen is inexpensive and easy to use. You can pay per journey in cash at a machine in a subway or train station or in person on a bus.
Copenhagen Card
The Copenhagen Card gives you unlimited public transport in the capital region of Denmark, plus free entry to over 80 museums and attractions.
City Pass
You can also buy a City Pass, a digital travel ticket for unlimited public transport valid (有效的) for 24, 48, 72, 96 or 120 hours, costing from DKK 80 for 24 hours for unlimited travel in Copenhagen zones 1 — 4, including the airport. There is a version for adults and another for children over 12. You can take two children under 12 for free. Children aged 12 — 15 travel at half price.
Harbour Bus
The harbour bus runs in both directions from Teglholm in the south to Refshaleden in the north. These boats are operated by the same carrier as normal buses, and all ticket types are valid. It is a great way to see the city from the water and an efficient way to get from Nyhavn to Reffen in summer. Since 2020, all harbour buses have run on green electricity.
Bike and Electric Scooter
It’s super easy to rent a bike from a local bike shop, pick up a Donkey rental bike on the street, or rent an electric scooter via an app. For more about bike rental and the city’s cycling rules, see the bike guide. You can take a bike on the subway, but not during commuting (通勤) hours (Mondays to Fridays, 7:00 — 9:00 and 15:30 — 17:30), and also on a regional train. While undergoing treatment for breast cancer, I returned to work — probably a little too soon. It was a difficult and emotionally draining time with my health issues. It’s all the stuff that makes our lives “full”.
One day, after a stress-filled phone conversation, I hung up the phone, put my head down on my desk, and let out a huge, weepy sigh. My co-worker, Joyce, stepped away from her work and rolled her chair next to mine.
“What’s going on ” she asked.
“What isn’t going on ” I complained. “Pick a subject: sick mom, out-of-control adult child, sick dog, daily treatments, and my car that needs work. Everything is dreadful! I’m so tired. I feel like all this will never end!”
I grabbed a bunch of tissues and tried to compose myself. Joyce gave me a moment to calm down. She then told me a little about a time when she also had a tough time with a lot of things going on. She felt totally overwhelmed, like there was no end to the stress.
I asked her how she had managed. She winked and held out an open hand and a closed fist. Her response gave me words to live by in stressful times.
“Inbox full or inbox empty ”
I got the message. Those wise words have become a golden rule for me, and I am forever grateful. When I feel like life stuff just keeps piling on — whether it’s good, bad or just feels like too much to handle — I recite those perspective-changing words.
I often pass on those wise words to someone when they feel overwhelmed and need a little friendly support.
“Inbox full or inbox empty ”
There are still many bumps in the road of my life’s journey, and I often remind myself of those words: “Inbox full or inbox empty ” My inbox is full. I don’t know what an empty inbox looks like. And I don’t want to know.

We care about what other people think of us. The reality is that allowing others’ opinions to guide our choices and sense of self-worth can do us a great deal of hurt and harm.
FOPO, in short, is the fear of other people’s opinions. As human beings, we’ve been hardwired for millennia to care about what the people we care about, interact with, and seek to please think of us. Without strong social connections, our ancestors could not have survived. Today, though we no longer live with ever-present threats to our very existence, we continue to measure our capabilities and self-worth in relation to what the people in our lives — and increasingly, on our social media pages — think of us.
A June 2025 article in the New York Post described FOMO (the fear of missing out) as a hidden epidemic that “most people don’t know they’re partaking in”. Like FOMO, FOPO is a relatively new term that describes the dark side of our very human need and concern for validation (认可), inclusion, and acceptance from others. In a word, we base our self-worth on external conditions.
In the book The First Rule of Mastery: Stop Worrying About What People Think of You, Dr. Michael Gervais shared his perspectives on what makes our fear of other people’s opinions so harmful that it makes us “play it safe, and play it small, to avoid failure, rather than go for it”. Moreover, he cautions that caring too much about other people’s opinions can lead to disconnection from our inner strengths and sense of purpose.
The reality is that we all struggle to some extent with concerns and fears of negative judgments of others. It is critical that we should strive to shift our focus away from other people’s opinions to achieving our goals and realizing our own potential. We owe it to ourselves to focus on our goals and to strive to live our lives on our own terms, free of the fears of judgments of others.
8. What’s paragraph 2 mainly about
A. The reasons for FOPO. B. The definition of FOPO.
C. The uniqueness of FOPO. D. The negative effects of FOPO.
9. What is behind FOPO according to paragraph 3
A. Poor performance. B. A lack of special skills.
C. Insufficient preparation. D. The absence of confidence.
10. What will FOPO lead us to do according to Dr. Gervais
A. Become more independent. B. Become more conservative.
C. Try to challenge ourselves. D. Focus on improving ourselves.
11. What’s the author’s purpose of writing the last paragraph
A. To describe a phenomenon. B. To give a warning.
C. To offer a suggestion. D. To prove a concept.
D
On Earth Day — April 22 — the XPrize announced the winners of its Carbon Removal contest. A company called Mati Carbon won the $50 million prize. Their method is simple, but it could remove huge amounts of carbon dioxide and also help farmers grow more food.
In 2021, the XPrize Foundation group began a 4-year contest for the best ideas of removing more than 1,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions (排放) in a year. Over 1,300 teams entered the contest. Last year, 20 finalists were chosen. The finalists used many different methods to remove carbon. But in April, Mati Carbon won the $50 million grand prize with a fairly simple idea.
The company uses a very common kind of volcanic rock called basalt (玄武岩). Basalt is used worldwide to construct roads and panies that break up the basalt often have a fine powder of basalt left over that they can’t use. Luckily, this is exactly what Mati Carbon needs. The company removes carbon by spreading this rock powder on farm fields. The powder pulls CO2 out of the water in the soil and stores it in a way that will last for thousands of years.
The results aren’t just good for the environment — they’re also good for the farmers. Farmers who use the basalt powder on their fields grow roughly 25% more food. In areas with poor soil, farmers can grow as much as 70% more. The rock dust also helps the soil hold water better, which is important in dry places.
Mati Carbon is already spreading basalt powder on farms in several countries, including India, Tanzania, and Zambia. So far, Mati Carbon has removed over 1,000 metric tons of CO2, but the company believes that number will grow rapidly.
Mati Carbon is a non-profit company. It puts the powder on farmlands for free. To pay for this, the company sells “carbon credits”. Since Mati Carbon is removing pollution, large companies that create pollution buy credits to “offset” their pollution so they can be “carbon neutral (碳中和)”
12. What is Mati Carbon’s method about
A. Making the air clean. B. Creating new energy.
C. Balancing the crop production. D. Reducing carbon dioxide.
13. Which of the following can describe Mati Carbon’s using a fine powder of basalt
A. Following a traditional way. B. Turning waste into treasure.
C. Challenging an impossible task. D. Creating something totally new.
14. What do we know about Mati Carbon’s effort
A. It’s highly effective.
B. It costs a lot of money.
C. It makes the soil worse at holding water.
D. It requires farmers to pay for basalt powder.
15. What can be a suitable title for the text
A. Simple Idea Makes Company Win Environmental Contest
B. Basalt Powder Helps Farmers and Reduces CO2 Emissions
C. Mati Carbon Searches for Ways to Increase Crop Production
D. More Advanced Farm Techniques Are Used to Promote Carbon Neutrality

When a person has a growth mindset, he tends to see all experiences — positive and negative — as learning opportunities. ____16____, he’ll receive it as information to make his path forward more productive.
For example, consider a student who receives a C on his math midterm exam. With a growth mindset, this student may review the exam and seek additional help to understand the concepts he didn’t grasp. ____17____.

She identified the concept when researching the differences between students who succeed and those who don’t. ____18____. Those with a growth mindset tended to find success more frequently and easily than those with a fixed mindset.

____20____, adopting a growth mindset can be one of the most beneficial things you can do to enable your success. With a growth mindset, you’ll be mentally primed to navigate challenges, enjoy the learning process, and see your progress, whether big or small.

I already hated dealing with Victor’s parents for their lack of cooperation and disconnected phone numbers. He was the youngest in a family that contained many children with behavior problems. I’d had a couple of his siblings (兄弟姐妹) in previous years and dreaded having this child in my class.
I taught first grade in a low-budget charter school that was quickly becoming known in our town for accepting unruly students, often those who’d been kicked out of another school for behavior problems.
But Victor was not like his siblings. It was clear from the first day that he wanted to read books, not throw them. He didn’t yell. He didn’t break crayons on purpose. In fact, he paid attention, practiced reading when he was done with other subjects, and attended my after-school tutoring group.
Instead of dreading Victor, I looked forward to having him in class each day. And now that he was reading well, our next job together was writing.
Unfortunately, Victor’s siblings were still having behavior problems in school. His parents grew tired of the consequences brought about by their children and the regular phone calls from school administrators. One day, when I was home sick with the flu, Victor’s mother came to school to get all of her children, and she didn’t bring them back. Not even Victor. I was heartbroken.
I felt guilty that he, who was unable to write at grade level, would go to a new teacher. We didn’t have enough time. And I didn’t even get to say goodbye.
As the school year came to a close, I was doing playground duty on a hot, dusty afternoon. Students and teachers alike were sweaty and tired. A woman walked up to our playground fence and said, “Are you Mrs. M ”
“Yes,” I said. “Do I know you ”
“No, but you were Victor’s teacher earlier this year, right I work at Lake View School with Mrs. Kaye. She’s Victor’s teacher now, and she wants you to have this.”
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
The woman handed me an envelope.

【答案】Dear Jenny,
Thank you for proposing the two creative slogans for our upcoming campus art festival! After careful consideration, my final choice is “Your Talent, Our Stage!”.
For one thing, the slogan “Your Talent, Our Stage!” is short, rhythmic, and easy to remember, making it ideal for posters and promotions. For another, the phrase highlights that the festival belongs to everyone — it’s a shared platform to showcase diverse talents. This perfectly serves our purpose of encouraging students to participate in the campus art festival.
Thanks again for your time and wisdom.
Yours,
Li Hua
【答案】One possible version:
The woman handed me an envelope. I thanked her and opened it. It was a hand-written letter from Victor. I took it with trembling fingers, suddenly forgetting the heat of the afternoon. “Dear Mrs. M, I can write now. You are the best teacher in the world. In my eyes, you are my mom. I’ll study harder and do better. I miss you.” Tears blurred my vision. This child, who had been labeled “troubled” because of his family’s reputation, was on his way to growing up and becoming strong.
Deeply touched by Victor’s words in the letter, I decided to write him back. I rushed back to my office and pulled out a sheet of bright blue paper. My pen hovered for a moment before I began: “Dear Victor, I’m so glad you are an excellent writer now! I knew you could do it. I’m so proud of you! Please keep up the good work!” As I sealed the envelope, I pictured his face lighting up when Mrs. Kaye handed it to him. At that moment, I realized that the best thing in the world is the difference one can make in others’ lives.
