Quitting her job as an international trader in Paris, Yang Yuxiao returned to her
hometown in Zhejiang province to breathe new life into Linhai paper-cutting. By
blending her family's heritage with contemporary techniques, she ensures this
traditional craft not only survives but thrives.
After earning a degree in French and a master's in trade in France, Yang worked in
Paris importing crafts and artworks. Yet after five years, she realized this path wasn't
what she truly wanted. “I often felt like a wanderer in a foreign land. I missed the
warmth of home,” she said. “Most importantly, my mother is an intangible cultural
heritage bearer. As her only child, it's up to me to continue this legacy.” In 2016, she
returned to Linhai and took over the Zhang Xiujuan Paper Cutting Museum, which was
founded by her mother.
Linhai paper-cutting, recognized as part of Zhejiang's intangible cultural heritage
since 2007, was in need of both preservation and innovation. The traditional paper is
vulnerable to humidity and fading, which greatly influenced the preservation of the art.
To tackle this problem, Yang experimented with new materials like silk and cashmere
cotton, securing 13 national patents for her innovations. “Our silk paper-cutting was a
breakthrough because we patented the process of using silk instead of paper, giving the
material a new meaning,” she said.
Yang has creatively integrated traditional techniques with modern applications,
designing patterns for contemporary products such as bags, coasters, earrings and cloud
shoulders. She aims to make the art functional and relevant to everyday life. She also
launched initiatives to teach Linhai paper-cutting to villagers, providing new income

opportunities for them. Over 150 training sessions have been held, with more than
2,000 participants completing the courses. Yang also offers live-streamed classes to
international audiences, having taught over 1,000 people from countries like the US,
Spain and Hungary.
“In the future, we aim to transform Linhai paper-cutting from mere wall art into
something young people appreciate. By integrating it into everyday scenes, we believe
it can gain wider recognition,” Yang said.
24. Why did Yang Yuxiao return to her hometown
A. To escape the loneliness in France. B. To carry on her mother's legacy.
C. To expand her importing business. D. To open a paper-cutting museum.
25. What problem did Yang solve for paper-cutting
A. Its poor resistance to weather. B. Its high production cost.
C. Its difficulty in finding materials. D. Its lack of modern designs.
26. What has Yang done to promote Linhai paper-cutting
A. She exports related crafts and artworks abroad.
B. She applies it to daily goods and teaches others.
C. She holds exhibitions to show the new techniques.
D. She hires the local villagers to teach paper-cutting.
27. What does Yang's story show us
A. Every cloud has a silver lining. B. East or west, home is the best.
C. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. D. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Every year, more than 250 million birds in Europe die from collisions with glass
windows, and estimates in the United States run into the hundreds of millions. Birds
either don't see the glass or they see reflections in the glass, such as trees, that make
them try to fly through as if it isn't there. To solve this problem, a new type of glass
inspired by a spider has been introduced.
The high-tech glass, called Ornilux, has a web of lines coated on to the surface.
Although the lines are invisible to humans, they reflect ultraviolet (UV) light, which
can be seen by birds. The glass is based on the web of the common orb weaver spider(
圆网蜘蛛), whose silk also contains UV reflective strands.
Independent field testing by Dr. Hans-Willy Ley from the Max Planck Institute for
Ornithology tested the glass's effectiveness. Results showed that 76% of the birds tested
avoided the Ornilux panel and flew towards a conventional glass panel, indicating that
the birds recognized the Ornilux glass as an obstacle due to its reflective UV coating.
These results indicated that Ornilux can help reduce the number of birds killed by
collisions with glass surfaces.
In fact, the inspiration for the use of UV-reflective patterns came from how some
高二英语试题 第 5页 共 12页
species of spiders incorporate UV-reflective silk strands into their webs. The reasons
for what some scientists refer to as "decorations" include attracting insects and
distracting or warning away larger animals, including birds. This is to the spider's
advantage, because if a bird were to fly through the web, the spider would temporarily
lose its ability to capture prey.
Due to green building practices that focus mostly on energy efficiency, many
architects are incorporating larger and larger expanses of glass to let in natural light to
save energy. Additionally, the biggest challenge is that people enjoy the aesthetics(美
学 ) of glass; this will not change. Ornilux offers a clear glass solution to allow the
aesthetics we enjoy but the protection the birds require. “We hope more developers and
architects start looking at ways to be more bird-friendly with their designs,” said Dr.
Hans-Willy Ley.
28. What makes Ornilux glass special to birds
A. It has a spider-like surface pattern. B. It contains real spider silk strands.
C. It has colorful lines to attract birds. D. It reflects UV light visible to birds.
29. How did most birds react to Ornilux glass in the test
A. They flew toward normal glass. B. They tried to break through it.
C. They built nests on its surface. D. They showed no response at all.
30. Why do spiders weave UV-reflective silk into their webs
A. To attract other spiders to the web. B. To help them avoid natural enemies.
C. To stop birds from damaging the web. D. To make the web look more beautiful.
31. What is a suitable title for the text
A. Glass That Birds Can See B. The Secret of Spider Silk
C. Green Buildings and Energy D. Spiderwebs That Save Birds

Agriculture has been the backbone of human civilization for thousands of years.
Over the centuries, farming methods have evolved. One promising innovation is
AI-powered harvesting robots, which are transforming crop harvesting and improving
sustainability. Indeed, the adoption of these robots is driven by several pressing needs.
A major driver is the shrinking agricultural workforce—robots work tirelessly,
reducing reliance on human labor. Additionally, as global food demand rises, robots
help meet this demand more efficiently.
The key to their efficiency and autonomy lies in the sophisticated technology they
rely on. They are equipped with advanced sensors and cameras that allow them to “see”
and “understand” the crops they are harvesting. The sensors can detect various factors
such as the size, color, and ripeness of fruits or vegetables. By analyzing this data in
real time, the robots can make informed decisions about when and how to harvest a
particular crop, ensuring that only ripe and healthy produce is picked. Behind this,
高二英语试题 第 6页 共 12页
machine learning allows them to improve their decision-making based on the data they
collect, while computer vision system enables precise picking, sorting, and packaging
without damaging produce.
This foundational technology enables the operation of various types of specialized
robots. Fruit harvesters, like strawberry-picking robots, use soft grippers to gently
pluck ripe fruit. Other robots are also specifically designed to harvest vegetables or
remove weeds. The advantages of deploying such robots are multifaceted. These robots
not only increase efficiency, working consistently and at all hours, which improves
yields and reduces labor costs, but also enhance crop quality by selecting the
best-quality produce.
However, challenges also come along. While the technology offers long-term
benefits, the high initial cost can be a barrier for many small and medium-sized farms.
Besides, adapting robots to different types of crops and environments is still
technologically difficult, and furthermore, robotics and AI require ongoing
maintenance and updates.
Despite these hurdles, the future of AI harvesting robots is bright. As technology
advances, they will become more efficient, adaptable, and affordable. In the future, we
can expect AI-powered robots to play an even larger role in agriculture, helping
farmers produce more food with fewer resources.
32. Why are AI harvesting robots being used
A. To maximize long-term ecological benefits.
B. To meet labor shortages and food demand.
C. To ensure fully sustainable crop production.
D. To diversify the traditional farming methods.
33. How do the robots decide which crop to pick
A. By analyzing real-time sensor data. B. By following fixed computer orders.
C. By using camera to locate the crop. D. By scanning the fields with drones.
34. Which words can be used to describe these robots
A. Adaptable and cheap. B. Tireless and simple.
C. Reliable but slow. D. Efficient but costly.
35. What is the future trend for these robots
A. Require no further technological updates.
B. Replace human farm workers completely.
C. Become more cost-efficient and flexible.
D. Save more energy and land resources.

Taking notes is a smart way to remember what we study, but using color-coded
notes can make us even smarter and more organized thinkers. 36 For example,
you might use blue for headings, red for important terms, green for definitions, and
yellow for examples.
This method helps your brain quickly recognize, group, and remember important
details. It's not just about making notes look nice—it actually improves learning.
Studies show it can improve recall by up to 80%, as our brain remembers colors more
easily than plain text. 37 It also speeds up understanding, especially in
detail-rich subjects like science or history. Later, during revision, color-coded notes
help you find key information quickly without reading every line.
To reap these benefits, it's crucial to apply the method correctly. Often we may be
tempted to color-code while making notes in the middle of a lecture. 38 It
should be done without interrupting the process of getting information from a textbook
or during a lecture. Always color-code your notes once you have finished taking down
notes.
After taking your main notes, you can begin applying colors systematically.
Assign a specific color to each category of information and maintain this pattern
throughout your notes. 39 Crucially, avoid coloring everything. Overdoing it
can create visual clutter. Instead, color and highlight only the points that are important
to memorize.
40 This approach allows for selective attention so that our brain focuses
better. It also helps you gain better marks by aiding memorization and retention. In
short, this simple strategy organizes information clearly, making learning faster, less
confusing, and more enjoyable.
A. However, this can have the opposite effect.
B. By doing this you will avoid unnecessary confusion.
C. Thus, color-coded notes can greatly boost memory.
D. Different colors may help categorize information better.
E. That's because we are always in a hurry to perfect our notes.
F. Color-coded notes use different colors to organize information.
G. Color-coding your notes transforms the way you process information.

I was a habitual pessimist, forever assuming the worst cases. As a textbook
“helicopter mom,” I checked the backyard for 41 dangers, carried an emergency
kit to my son's ball games, and 42 all concerts or crowded outings— fearing
crushes, fires, or unforeseen disasters. My husband Don 43 argued that my

The significant turning point came on a quiet afternoon when I chanced upon
David in his room. He was carefully wrapping his beloved Superman figurine in bubble

One of the outstanding features of traditional Chinese martial arts is the way they
imitate animal movements. This came about because many Chinese martial artists
56 (admire) the natural instincts, senses and fighting abilities 57 animals
possess in order to survive in the wild.
The first set of animal-imitating exercises came into 58 (exist) about
2,000 years ago. It was called Wu Qin Xi, or Five-animal Exercises, 59 (create)
by Hua Tuo. As a physician during the Han Dynasty, Hua Tuo is often credited with
being the first in China 60 (use) anesthesia(麻醉 ) during surgery. He was
known as the best physician of his time, and was also 61 expert in
acupuncture(针灸).
Wu Qin Xi consists 62 five parts, each named after an animal: tiger, bear,
monkey, deer and crane. Different animals focus on different organs and functions of
the human body. The tiger exercise strengthens the liver and helps release energy. The
bear exercise improves 63 (digest) and builds up physical strength. The monkey
exercise enhances heart function and makes the body more flexible. The deer exercise
benefits the kidney and calms the mind. The crane exercise is good for the lungs and
improves balance.
By 64 (practise) Wu Qin Xi regularly, people can not only build up their
body but also prevent diseases. Even today, millions of people in China and around the
world practise these ancient exercises 65 (keep) healthy and live longer.

Every school has that kid—the one who sits alone, the one whose name gets
whispered. At Oakwood Elementary, that kid was Lucas. He barely spoke. His
backpack was faded, his shoes worn. The other kids called him “Shadow”. No one
knew much about him, and honestly, no one tried to. But stories have a funny way of
unfolding when we least expect them.
One autumn morning, Mrs. Thompson announced Story Time. But before she
could start, a cry rang out. “EW! A bug!” shouted one boy, pointing at a trembling
monarch butterfly. The class erupted into chaos. Kids scrambled away. The butterfly
fluttered desperately against the glass.
Then, without a word, Lucas stood up. He walked to the window, his steps steady,
and gently cupped the butterfly in his hands. The room fell silent as he carried it outside,
releasing it into the sunlight. When he returned, his cheeks were flushed, but his eyes
sparkled—for the first time that anyone could remember.
“How did you know not to hurt its wings ” asked Mia, who had once tossed
Lucas's hat into a puddle.
Lucas hesitated. “My grandma taught me. She… used to raise butterflies.”
The words hung in the air. No one had ever heard Lucas mention family before.
Curiosity spread like wildfire. At break, a small group followed Lucas to a rusty gate at
the edge of the schoolyard. He pushed it open, revealing a hidden and overgrown
高二英语试题 第 11页 共 12页
garden: milkweed plants, chrysalises( 蝶蛹 ) swinging like jewels, and dozens of
monarchs dancing.
“This is where they rest,” Lucas said softly. “My grandma and I planted it. She
said butterflies need friends too.” He paused, then added, “She told me exactly what to
do. ‘Water the milkweed every morning,' she said. ‘Watch for tiny eggs on the leaves.
When you see a caterpillar(毛虫), move it to a fresh plant. Never pull a chrysalis off the
branch — let it hang. And when a butterfly first comes out, don't touch its wings. Just
wait. It will fly when it's ready.'”
The kids listened, wide-eyed. Mia was astonished that Lucas knew so much, and
began to feel regret for how she had treated him. “I'm sorry. Can we help with the
garden ” she whispered.
Lucas looked at them for a long moment. Then he smiled — a real smile.
“Follow me,” he said, turning back toward the garden.

M: Hello. International Friends Club. Can I help you
W: Oh, hello. I read about your club in the paper today and I thought I’d phone to find out a bit more.
M: Yes, certainly, well, we’re a sort of social club for people from different countries. It’s quite a new
club — we have about 50 members at the moment, but we’re growing all the time.
W: That sounds interesting.

M: Excuse me, can you tell me how much the shirt is
W: Yes, it’s nine fifteen.
你将有 5秒钟的时间将正确答案标在试卷上。衬衫的价格为 9镑 15便士。所以,你选择 C
项,并将其划在试卷上。
现在,你有 5秒钟的时间阅读第 1小题的有关内容。
(Text 1)
W: Are you going to be very busy on Saturday
M: Extremely, I have to go to the dentist first. Then, I will pick up my dry-cleaning at 11:30 a.m. After
lunch, I have to go to the library to meet with my study group.
(Text 2)
W: Thank you for coming to the airport for me.
M: You’re welcome. Er ..., some of us are meeting for dinner tonight. Would you like to join us
W: Thank you for the invitation, but I’m really tired. I’ll just have an early night.
(Text 3)
M: Are you ready to stand up in your skates
W: Yes, I’ll have to take it a bit slow at first. I don’t want to hold you back, so let’s skate separately
and meet up at the snack bar in the end.
(Text 4)
W: Are you staying in the Paris branch all week
M: Yes, Cindy. I’m giving a training course to Sonya and her team in sales.
高二英语试题答案 第 4 页 共 7 页
W: Ah yes, I’ve noticed they’ve needed help in that area. So, is it going well
M: Yes, they’re making good progress.
(Text 5)
W: Wasn’t your school assignment due today
M: Yeah, and if Gina hadn’t given me a hand, I’d never have finished it.
(Text 6)
M: What do you think of Sue Grafton’s books
W: I love those mysteries! When I started to read A Is for Alibi, I couldn’t put it down. I stayed up till
4:00 in the morning to finish it!
M: Wow! Have you read any of the other books in the series
W: Oh, yeah. They’re fantastic. B Is for Burglar, C Is for Corpse, ... I’ve just wrapped up K Is for
Killer. That’s the 11th one. Using the alphabet to build a mystery series is such a clever idea. Sadly,
the series had to end up with Y because of the writer’s passing. But anyway, I can’t wait to read the
other 15 books!
听下面一段对话,回答第 8至第 10三个小题。现在,你有 15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
(Text 7)
W: Oh, Scott, there you are! At last! I’ve been waiting for ages!
M: I’m really sorry I’m late, Jessie. You see, it started to rain while I was walking to the bus stop, so I
had to go back home to get my umbrella.
W: Oh, no!
M: So then, of course, I missed the bus and had to wait for the next one.
W: Mm, I see. But why didn’t you call me
M: You’ll never believe this. I tried to phone you but my phone died — I’d forgotten to charge it! And
the traffic was so bad that it took ages to get here.
W: Oh well, these things happen, I guess. You’re here now. Let’s go in and have some coffee!
听下面一段对话,回答第 11至第 13三个小题。现在,你有 15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
(Text 8)
M: Have you seen Matilda
W: Oh yeah. Countless times. I practically wore out the DVD as a kid.
M: Me too. I used to watch it all the time when I was young. I’ve probably seen it 20 times. I still love
that scene where the boy is forced to eat that massive chocolate cake.
W: Oh yeah. You can almost feel his struggle.
M: So, have you seen The Blue Planet
高二英语试题答案 第 5 页 共 7 页
W: No. What is it
M: It’s this nature documentary series that’s being shown on Channel 1 at the moment. You have to
check it out!
W: I usually find documentaries a bit slow and dry.
M: Really But this is absolutely amazing! The filming is just unbelievable. They get so close to the
animals. There was an underwater scene last night with blue whales. It felt as if you were right there,
swimming along them.
W: Right. Whatever. Not my kind of thing, I’m afraid.
听下面一段对话,回答第 14至第 17四个小题。现在,你有 20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
(Text 9)
W: I have a couple of questions about equipment. Will we need a lot of warm stuff
M: Well, mountain weather is unpredictable, so you need to prepare for the worst.
W: What exactly do you mean by “the worst” Is there a risk of snow
M: I don’t think it will snow where we’re going. But to be honest, the worst sort of weather is
downpour. So you need a good waterproof coat.
W: Of course.
M: But you don’t need a thick coat. When you’re walking, you get very hot, you sweat a lot, and then
as soon as you stop walking, you quickly get cold.
W: So what sort of coat would you recommend taking A light one
M: Yeah, a light one is better. And another thing to consider is the kind of T-shirt you wear. Not cotton
ones because if cotton gets wet, it takes a long time to dry. Lightweight sports T-shirts are better.
They dry fast — plus, they’re a lot lighter to carry in your backpack.
W: OK.
听下面一段独白,回答第 18至第 20三个小题。现在,你有 15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
(Text 10)
M: Good morning, boys and girls. I’m Steven, working as the administrator at College’s guidance
administration. Today I would like to talk with you about our team and the services you can be
offered.
There are now three professional advisors in our team. They are Louise Bagshaw, Tony Denby and
Naomi Flynn.
Naomi is an expert in meeting freshmen and she will tell you what you can expect from the guidance.
Naomi is also the best choice for students who can only communicate with an advisor beyond office
hours. She’s not in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays, but she works on Wednesday mornings and
works late on Thursday evenings.
Louise is in our drop-in center office a whole day. If you want to ask some advisors for help without
a prior appointment, she will be the most suitable one.
Tony has a solid foundation and expertise in stress management and relaxation techniques. Anyone
who is trying to handle anxiety is encouraged to see him. A variety of techniques will be introduced
to you by Tony.
