The Porcupine's Dilemma:Finding Warm Boundaries on Campus
In our school life,we all hope to make close friends,but it can be hard to find the right
distance.Too close,and we may have misunderstandings;too far,and we fecl lonely.
I once had such an experience.I used to share almost everything with my best friend,
thinking that was true fricndship.However,I often asked about her personal feclings and
secrets without thinking much.Gradually,she felt uncomfortable and unhappy.I felt sad and
helpless,not knowing what to do.Later,I realized I had forgotten to respect her personal space.
The porcupine's dilemma tells us that proper distance keeps relationships safe and warm.
Boundaries are not coldness or distance.Instead,they show our respect for each other.When
we keep clear and kind boundaries,we can get along well and enjoy true,long-lasting
friendship.
