On March 24, 2026, we received very sad news. Mr. Zhang Xuefeng, a well-known educator, passed away suddenly. According to the report, he felt unwell after running at his office. He was sent to hospital at once, but doctors could not save him. He died because of sudden cardiac death (SCD—心源性猝死). This sad event tells us that health is the most important thing in our lives.
What is sudden cardiac death Our heart works like a pump (泵). It sends blood with oxygen (氧气) to our brain and body every second. When SCD happens, the heart stops working normally. It may beat too fast, too irregularly, or just stop beating. Then the brain cannot get enough oxygen. That is why SCD is so dangerous and happens very quickly.
Many people think only old people have heart problems, but this is not true. Even young people can face heart risks. Unhealthy habits like staying up late, eating too much junk food, and exercising too hard are the main causes. For us students, sports are good, but over-exercise is harmful. When you play sports, watch your body signals. If you feel tired, dizzy (头晕), or have chest pain, stop right away. Never push yourself too hard.
To protect our hearts, we need to follow healthy habits. First, sleep 8 to 10 hours every night. Enough sleep gives your heart time to rest. Second, warm up before exercise and cool down slowly after. Third, drink enough water and eat healthy food. Fourth, if you feel uncomfortable during exercise or study, tell your teachers or parents immediately. Let’s take good care of our hearts and grow up healthily.

①Hobbies not only make us happy, but also keep our brains healthy. A Canadian study found that long-term hobbies can improve the brain’s structure.
②The research studied 58 people who love birdwatching. Half were experts, while the other half were beginners. Both groups included people of different ages, from the 20s to the 70s, and were similar in education.
③During brain scans, volunteers saw a bird photo for less than four seconds. Then, they had to pick the bird from four different pictures. This test was done 72 times, with 18 different kinds of birds.
④The expert group successfully picked out 83 percent of local birds and 61 percent of nonlocal ones, while the beginners only got 44 percent right for both. The scans also showed differences in brain structure: the areas responsible for attention and working memory are more compact in the experts, no matter the age. These areas also “lit up” when the experts tried to pick nonlocal birds—something that did not happen in the beginners’ brains.
⑤Creative hobbies, like music and dancing, are also good for the brain. A 2025 study found that the brains of dancers appeared over seven years younger than their actual age. AI models also showed that even short-term creative learning, like 30 hours, can “turn back time” for the brain. “Creativity shapes not only culture but biology,” the scientists wrote on The Conversation.
32.Why does the writer mention the Canadian birdwatching study at the beginning of the passage
A.To suggest that people should take up birdwatching as a hobby.
B.To lead into the topic of how hobbies influence brain health.
C.To explain the steps of the brain scan test.
D.To show that older people can also have good memory.
33.According to Paragraph④, which of the following is TRUE about the experts’ brains
A.Their attention areas were less active than beginners’.
B.Their brain areas “lit up” only when picking local birds.
C.They had more compact brain areas for attention and memory.
D.They had larger brain structures than beginners.
34.If there is a sixth paragraph, what would it most probably talk about
A.How different hobbies influence brain health in different ways.
B.The history of birdwatching as a popular hobby.
C.The best age for people to start a creative hobby.
D.How to train beginners to become birdwatching experts
35.Which of the following facts does the passage use to show that hobbies help keep the brain healthy
A.Birdwatching experts can pick out 83% of local birds.
B.Dancers’ brains appeared over seven years older than their actual age.
C.Beginners’ brains showed no difference in brain scans.
D.Learning creative hobbies for 30 hours can benefit the brain.

Many teenagers relax by playing video games or watching short videos. But Zhang Xue, a motorcycle (摩托车) maker from China, finds his peace and energy in a different way—through engines (引擎) and speed.
Zhang grew up poor in a small village. As a boy, he had no money for a motorcycle, but his love for it never died. At 16, he started working in a repair shop to learn everything about bikes. Working on engines became his way to relax and escape from everyday worries. Later, he became a professional racer. But his biggest dream was to build his own motorcycles.
In March 2026, history was made. A French rider won two races at the World Superbike Championship in Portugal on a ZXMOTO bike—a brand created by Zhang. It was the first time a Chinese brand had won such a top event. Zhang jumped to his feet with tears in his eyes. “I’m so happy that I can’t find the words,” he said.
Zhang once said, “I never think about doing anything else. Once I start, I keep going, even if I fail for ten years. I simply love motorcycles.” His story shows us that a true hobby is not just for fun—it can help us stay healthy, grow stronger, and even change our lives.
