It's my great honor to have the opportunity to share my opinion with you on whether it is necessary for our country to aid other countries.
These years have witnessed Chinese workers, engineers, and doctors contributing to the development of other countries. Some people may ask,“Is it worth it?” I think it is worthwhile for the following reasons.Firstly,as a great responsible country,China aims to promote
world stability, safety and development and build a community with a shared future for mankind.Secondly, with the rapid development,China has become capable of shouldering the responsibility for helping other countries in need.
China's development can't go without international support.Helping others means helping ourselves.
Thanks for your attention.

It's my great honor to have the opportunity to inform you of an activity entitled “Devote Your Love by Donating a Book”.
As its name suggests,to participate in this activity, all you need is books. These donated books will finally be packed and delivered to children with a burning passion for reading.Dedicated to helping children in poverty-stricken areas to enjoy the fun of reading, this activity is
worth your attention.Due to poverty, these children are unlikely to get to know the outside world.Books, however, can better link them with the world.
One book may seem trivial, but one book per student in our school can make a big difference. Please join us in this empowering activity.
Ⅱ 读后续写
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
White puffs of bread were lined up in front of me,with the sea of mayonnaise(蛋黄酱) spread over them. How many times had I done this How many more times would I be forced to do it My dad would soon be leaving to feed the homeless.
My father and several volunteers gathered every day in the park to feed the hungry.
Luckily,I didn't have to go there. It was enough trouble just to get everything ready.I really didn't understand why my father bothered with it.I couldn't wait for him to leave.I looked forward to a whole Saturday by myself.I planned to watch some television, talk with my friends on the phone, and maybe do some shopping during the afternoon.
It didn't take long for my plans to change and my happiness to disappear.Dad came in while I was doing the packing and stood behind me.
“I'm going to need your help today. Some of the volunteers that usually help me won't be able to make it.”
“Dad,I can't help today,” I said.“I have plans.” He just gave me the you-should-be-ashamed-of-yourself look.“Fine,” I said angrily.
I finished packing the sandwiches and followed Dad out to the van(货车).I wanted to cry. This was going to be the worst day ever.My dad always drove the van, which also contained clothes, shoes and small bags filled with personal items.
When we arrived at the park, people were already gathered under a tree waiting for us.We opened the back of the van and pulled out a long cafeteria table and some chairs.I put the table on one side of the van with the food on it,while my dad lined up chairs on the other side for them to sit in.
I couldn't believe so many people were there and all of them were homeless.I was surprised to learn my dad knew most of them by name.He also seemed to know what each one needed, what they had suffered and what landed them on the street.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Then,a girl about my age caught my attention.
When everyone was gone,we loaded things back into the van.
[巧读文]
1.读要素
Who:the author,the author's father,volunteers,the homeless
When:on a Saturday
Where:in the park
What:The author was unwilling to help Dad to feed the homeless.
Why:The author looked forward to a whole Saturday by herself.
2.读双线(情节线、情感线)
情节线:
Luckily,I didn't have to go there.→I can't help today ...I said angrily.→I wanted to cry ...the worst day ever.→I couldn't believe ...I was surprised ...
情感线:
lucky → angry → sad → surprised
[妙构思]

Then,a girl about my age caught my attention.
When everyone was gone,we loaded things back into the van.
[参考范文]
Then,a girl about my age caught my attention. There was dirt on her face and hair.Much to my surprise, she didn't wear shoes. She walked to me and asked in a low voice whether I had any shoes that fit her.Staring into her blue eyes,I was unable to believe someone in this world could live such a poor life.“Let me have a check,” I replied gently.Looking back into the van,to my excitement,I found a pair of shoes that were the right size for her. Then I handed her the shoes.“Thank you!” She
cried happily,a big smile spreading across her face. After thanking me,she put them on and ran back to the street.I felt warm inside as I watched her leave.
When everyone was gone,we loaded things back into the van.Now I understood why my father did everything he could to help the homeless.I could tell that he loved seeing their smiles of happiness. So did I.I realized I should have been thankful for everything that I had. That day,my dad taught me that there will always be someone who is less fortunate.A
difference can be made by an individual who is willing to take the opportunity to help others, even if it means sacrificing something of their own.

听下面一段独白,回答第17至第20小题。
M:Okay, now for some news about our annual charity auction evening. Unfortunately, we can't use the Forest Hotel again, as it's being re-decorated, but we're very excited about getting into the Park Hotel for the auction this year. It's located opposite the station. We have an exciting range of things to sell this year, but we'd always welcome more items. The final day is next Thursday.
All money from this year's events goes towards helping local homeless people. We intend to use the money from the auction to build a new training center, where homeless people can come to learn new skills. It'll be next to the existing hotel and you can see the plans in the office. Please give your names to the secretary before the day of the event.
We've also got some fantastic items in this year's auction as usual. But the dinner at the new restaurant—the City Lights is new this
year. We're expecting the most interest in the tickets to “The Big Thing”, as this fantastic festival is now sold out. We're also very excited about the day pass to the local adventure park for younger ones. Now then, we have enough people to help with seating, but we are looking for some volunteers to help with the coffee. If you think you can do this, please contact Mr Baker. We're sure it's going to be a huge success.
