Black Point Historic Garden Volunteer Activity
Black Point Historic Garden is a quiet and nearly forgotten historic garden spot,hidden and overlooking-the
busy San Francisco Bay.It has been neglected for decades.Located within Fort Mason,the garden site was built
with beautiful green spaces and stone pathways by early San Francisco residents in the 1850s.
Thanks to volunteer efforts,the old garden paths have been uncovered and the whole site has come back to life.
Now Black Point Historic Garden is open to the public,and we welcome you to help protect and care for this
special place.
We still have much work to do to restore its garden scenery.Volunteers are needed to remove invasive species
that have taken over the area,and replant the garden with native plants as well as horticultural()plants that
were grown by local residents over 100 years ago The main volunteer jobs include weeding,pruning (and
planting.
