Dear Paul,
I am delighted to hear that you will participate in the Chinese Poetry Recitation Contest. I’d like to recommend “A Spring
Morning” by Meng Haoran, a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty.
The poem describes a peaceful spring morning after a night of wind and rain. The poet wakes up late, hearing birds singing
everywhere, and wonders how many flowers have fallen. In just four lines, Meng Haoran creates a vivid picture of spring’s
beauty and fragility. The writing is simple yet profound, using contrast between sound and silence, inside and outside, to
express a gentle sadness for passing beauty.
I recommend this poem because it is short, musical, and full of imagery, making it perfect for recitation. Its theme —
cherishing nature and time — is universal and touching. I believe your performance will impress the audience.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节 读后续写(满分 25分)
“Hello Is anybody in ” It was Mrs. Wilson, my next-door neighbor. Her voice, though muffled by the thick snow, carried
a warmth that melted some of my fear. “Yes, Mrs. Wilson! I’m here, but the door is stuck!” I shouted back. “Don’t worry, dear,”
she replied. “I’ll go get my husband. We’ll get you out.” Minutes later, I heard scraping sounds outside — the rhythmic
shoveling of snow. Then came the thud of their shoulders against the door. The door groaned but held. “One more push!” Mr.
Wilson yelled. Another heavy crash, and the door shuddered, a small crack of daylight appearing.
After twenty minutes of hard work, the door was finally opened. Cold air rushed in, but so did two red-faced, snow-dusted
neighbors. Mrs. Wilson pulled me into a tight hug. “You poor thing, all e over to our place — we have hot soup and
a warm fire.” Tears welled in my eyes, not from fear anymore, but from gratitude. In that fierce snowstorm, I learned that even
when nature isolates you, kindness can break through any wall. That day, I didn’t just get groceries; I gained a second family.
