When the stress of exams is really hitting me, I stop and take a walk. I usually borrow my

Dear Dr Green,
My relationship with my mother is worse and worse now. It seems she's never tired of
talking. She talks here and there, day and night. More seriously, I feel like we don't have much
in common. She doesn't always understand what I'm trying to say. What should I do
Jim
Dear Jim,
I know how you feel. It's not easy being your age. And it's not easy being a mother either.
It's common for kids to have trouble talking with parents, and talkative mothers are not
new to teenagers. But remember, she's nagging you because she just wants what's best for you.
Talking is her way to show love and care. And she also wants to know more about you. After
a day's work, she's tired too. But she’ ll never be tired of caring about you. Kids should learn
to understand and care about parents.
In my opinion, it's helpful to share school life with her. Then, you talk and she listens.
Doing some housework together with her is another good way for you two to know each other
better. And if possible, often tell her your feelings about the things around you. Always keep
in mind: be polite and patient.
Dr Green
46. Why does Jim write to Dr Green
A. Because his parents can't understand him.
B. Because he has trouble getting on with his mother.
C. Because his mother doesn't care about him.
D. Because he is asked to do much housework.
47. What advice does Dr Green give to Jim
A. Argue with his mother.
B. Understand and care about his mother.
C. Take no notice of his mother and do whatever he likes.
D. Ask his mother to help with his housework.
B
Do you live in a big city I do. Every day, the streets are noisy with the activity of
millions of souls (灵魂), each of them living in their own way. It seems that people from every
corner of the planet live here. And every single person has his own unique story.
However, people here can often feel quite lonely. It's a strange contradiction(矛盾 )——
八年级英语第4页(共 8页)
other people are around you at every moment, but you still feel like you' re the only person on
the planet. You can walk through a crowd and feel like you're floating(漂浮 ) alone in space.
Even the busiest shopping mall can feel like a foreign planet.
Have you ever felt like this It's not an unusual feeling. Living in a crowded city can often
make people feel this way. There are many ways to do with this feeling— but perhaps the best
way is to rely on your friends.
When I'm feeling lonely or sad, the first thing I do is pick up my phone and text a friend.
All of us are busy with work and our own work matters— but my closest friends always take the
time to reply. In a world where feelings of loneliness can come so easily, friends are the best
medicine for these feelings. I've gotten through some of the hardest times in my life with the
help of my friends. Take time to develop your own friendships. You never know when you will
need someone to lift you up.
48. What problem is discussed in the passage
A. Noise in big cities
B. The loneliness of living in cities.
C. The difficulty of making friends.
D. Traffic in big cities.
49. How do people here often feel according to the writer
A. Happy. B. Sad. C. Lonely. D. Strange.
50. What will the writer do when she feels sad
A. She will go shopping.
B. She will walk through a crowd.
C. She will pick up her phone and text her friends.
D. She will take the medicine.
51. What do we know from the passage
A. Loneliness is bad for our health.
B. Friends cannot always help us.
C. People in cities never feel lonely.
D. The writer considers friendship important.
C
It's hard when a best friend isn't around—— maybe because he or she moved to a different
school or a different class. You may feel lonely at break or lunchtime. You want to have new
friends, but how can you make new friends Maybe it seems that everyone else has his or her
friends. But remember, there's always room for more friends.
Start by looking around your classroom—— think about which kids you'd like to play with
at break. Say hello to them, and be friendly. Try to share something. Ask someone to play with
you or say “Do you want to sit here ” in the lunchroom. When you are at break, walk over to the
kids you want to play with. Act friendly, and say “Hi, can I play too ” or just join them.
八年级英语第5页(共 8页)
If you find it difficult to do this or if you' re feeling shy, ask your teachers to help you make
new friends. Teachers are usually very good at matching up(配对) friends.
You might still miss that special best friend. But when you see each other, you can share
something you didn't have before your best friend left. You can introduce(介绍) him or her to
your new friends!
52. How may you feel when your best friend isn't around you
A. Angry. B. Unhappy. C. Nice. D. Excited.
53. What does the underlined word “someone” refer to
A. A boy B. A teacher C. A classmate. D. A friend.
54. Why do some kids need help from their teachers
A. Because they miss their old friends a lot.
B. Because they have no time to stay with others.
C. Because teachers know who wants a new friend.
D. Because they are shy or not good at making new friends.
55. What's the passage mainly about
A. How to make new friends.
B. How to be good with friends.
C. How to say hello to new friends.
D. How to ask teachers for help.
第二节 阅读表达(共 5小题;每小题 2分,满分 10分)
阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
“I don't like my parents. They always tell me that I should do this and should not do that. It
sometimes makes me angry,” said Zhang Hua, a middle school student in Guangzhou. Do you
have the same problem Perhaps your parents had the same problem when they were young.
Why aren't some parents so friendly in their children's eyes
One of the most important reasons is that when someone becomes a parent, he/ she often
worries about things. Since you were born, your parents have worried about everything about
you. They do a lot for you. Though something would make you angry, they care about you and
worry about you. They worry about your choice of friends, the food you eat, your study at
school, how much sleep you get and so on. All these things are part of your life, because they
want you to grow up healthily and happily.
So how can you make things easier on yourself It's easier than you think. Just make sure
your parents know what you' re doing. Get them to know your friends. Phone them if you get
home later than usual. Say sorry to them when you make mistakes. Talk about your ideas with
them and they may talk about theirs with you.
Most of all, try to think why your parents do this or do that. They are still practising being
parents and need help that you can give them. When you become a parent, they may be able to
help you learn how to get on with your children.
八年级英语第6页(共 8页)

during weekends. We often talk in the living room, or sometimes in the park. I like to share what happened
at school or ask for advice when I have problems. They also share their thoughts with me. Talking to my
parents helps me feel closer to them. It also helps me feel warm. I try to listen carefully. I also show my
own feelings in right ways, and use kind words. Talking with parents is really a good way to understand

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!
Today my speech topic is “Learning to get along with our parents”. These days,
most of us feel it hard to get along with our parents. We often get angry with our
parents and even don't talk to them for several days.
Here are some of the reasons. First, our parents care about our marks too much
and it makes us stressed. Second, we seldom communicate with them so we can't
understand them. It's time for us to change. First, we should communicate with our
parents by sharing our joys and worries with them. Then, we can help do some
housework to show our love to them. Lastly, we should achieve a balance between
our schoolwork and hobbies so that they won't feel worried about us.
That's all for my speech. Thank you!
