Imagine you're playing video games with some friends and they speak of your
favourite game. “Oh, that game is easy. There is no need to waste time on it,”
someone says. The others agree. Though you enjoy the game very much, you choose
to agree with them instead of being different.
You have just experienced peer(同伴) pressure. You will follow what your
peers do or think so that they will accept you. Teenagers usually spend more time
with their friends, and they may have experienced the influence of peers in many
situations.
According to Dr Casey, teenagers are often accurate(准确的) in making
decisions on their own. However, when they make decisions too quickly or with
peers around, their decisions often have something to do with their peers. In a study
about peer pressure, some teenagers played a video driving game, either alone or
with friends watching. The result showed that teenagers took double risks when their
friends were watching, compared with when they played alone.
Just as some people can influence us to make injudicious choices, they can also
influence us to make good ones. Teenagers might take part in a volunteer activity
because their friends are doing it, or try to work hard to get good grades because
their friends are doing well in studying. In fact, friends are often good examples for
each other.
While we are always under the influence of others, to follow or not is up to us.

decision quickly.

六、读写综合(本大题分为 A、B两部分, 共 25分)
A. 回答问题(本题共 5小题, 每小题 2分, 共 10分)
Emotions play a big role in our health. When we feel happy and relaxed, our body works
better. But when we are stressed or angry, it can harm our health.
Positive emotions like joy and laughter help us stay strong. They make the immune system(
免疫系统 )work well, so we get sick less often. For example, people who laugh a lot usually
have lower stress levels and better heart health. Also, being happy helps us sleep better, which is
6
important for energy and focus.
However, negative emotions like anger, sadness or fear can cause health problems. Too
much stress can lead to headaches, stomachaches, or even high blood pressure. Some studies
show that long-term stress weakens the immune system, making people catch colds or other
illnesses more easily.
To stay healthy, we should manage our emotions well. Here are some tips:
● Exercise—It helps reduce stress and makes us happier.
● Talk to our friends or family—Sharing feelings can lighten sadness.
● Practise deep breathing—It calms the mind when feeling angry.
In conclusion, emotions have a powerful effect on our bodies. By staying positive and
managing stress, we can keep both our minds and bodies healthy.
