Carry out the task
Step 1
During the hot and dry summer last year, my family experienced the first natural disaster of our lives. We were hiking in the mountains when lightning flashed across the sky. The sky got darker and darker. And then we realized that we weren't looking at clouds. It was smoke! There was a wildfire!
Last winter, my family had a terrifying experience. It started one evening while we were enjoying a quiet night at home. My parents were watching TV while my brother was doing his homework. I, on the other hand, was glued to my bedroom window. Thick snow was falling and the world outside was growing white and winter.

During the hot and dry summer last year, my family experienced the first natural disaster of our lives. We were hiking in the mountains when lightning flashed across the sky. The sky got darker and darker. And then we realized that we weren't looking at clouds. It was smoke! There was a wildfire!
The wind was blowing strongly.
The smoke was so thick that our eyes were watering and we couldn’t see clearly.
I poured my drinking water onto my paper to cover my mouth.
We were all too scared to speak.

We lost our internet connection, and soon after, my phone signal disappeared.
The house was getting colder and colder.
My parents found all the candles in the house because the power was out.
The road was blocked by heavy snow.

Step 3
During the hot and dry summer last year, my family experienced the first natural disaster of our lives. We were hiking in the mountains when lightning flashed across the sky. The sky got darker and darker. And then we realized that we weren't looking at clouds. It was smoke! There was a wildfire!
“Look! The fire is over there!” my brother shouted. The flames was moving quickly through the trees. The smoke made it hard to breathe.
“Stay calm!” said my dad. “Cover your mouths while we’re running down the mountain!” We used our wet T-shirts and ran down the mountain.
My heart was beating like a drum. Just when we were feeling completely lost, we heard a wonderful sound above the noise of the fire fighting truck! Firefighters came down to help us, who led us to safety away from the fire. It was a scary day, but while we were escaping, we discovered how brave our family could be and how thankful we are for our firefighters.
Last winter, my family had a terrifying experience. It started one evening while we were enjoying a quiet night at home. My parents were watching TV while my brother was doing his homework. I, on the other hand, was glued to my bedroom window. Thick snow was falling and the world outside was growing white and winter.
I had never seen snow fall so heavily. Suddenly, a strong wind was shaking the house terribly. The lights were shining uncertainly before everything went black completely.
My dad said, “Okay, everyone, don’t worry. We’re prepared for this.” He was searching for the big flashlight while my mom was finding all the candles we had. Soon, our living room was being lit by a soft, warm glow.
Instead of watching TV, we were telling stories and playing games together. The snow was still falling outside, but inside we were feeling warm and safe. In the morning, the snow stopped and the sun came out. We learned that even a bad storm can bring a family closer together.
