①In January 2026, post offices across China were crowded with people waiting to buy the Year of the Horse stamps. Why were these small stamps such a hit The answer is simple: They were not only lovely to look at, but also full of rich cultural meanings.
②The first stamp shows a strong red horse running on clouds. Red is the color of good luck and happiness in China, and the horse on clouds looks fast, free, and full of energy. This image makes people think of new beginnings and big dreams. It reminds us that the new year is a chance to move forward, try new things, and make progress in our lives.
③On the second stamp are three horses running side by side. This picture also has a special message. In Chinese culture, three is a lucky number that stands for harmony (和谐) and teamwork. When three horses run together, they show strength in unity. The stamp suggests that success often comes from working with others, supporting each other, and moving in the same direction. It is a nice reminder for anyone who lives, works, or studies in a group.
④These two stamps were designed to show the spirit of the horse in Chinese culture — strength, speed, loyalty, and good luck. Even though they are small, they carry warm wishes for the new year. They are easy to collect, fun to look at, and full of positive meanings. Whether you keep them in an album, put them on a desk, or send them to a friend, they bring a touch of luck and happiness.

Most people have fixed ideas about animals. We often think fish stay in water and birds only fly to get around. But some animals break these common thoughts with their amazing actions, and they make us see the animal world in a whole new way.
Do you know that there are flying snakes in the rainforests of Southeast Asia They can jump from tree to tree and glide (滑翔) through the air. When they fly, their bodies become twice as wide, just like a plane’s wing. They move their heads and bodies to keep gliding, and to people who are watching them, the snakes look like they’re swimming in the air!
Then, let’s take a look at the mudskipper. It’s a funny fish that lives most of its life on land and can breathe air! It stays on mudflats (泥滩), eating small plants and small animals there. Its eyes are on the top of its head, which helps it find enemies and look for a partner. To keep its skin wet and cool, it rolls in the mud or digs a little hole in it. It sometimes uses its fins (鱼鳍) to walk or jump on land. It may even drown if it never leaves the water, because it can’t breathe like other fishes in deep water.
Penguins are also surprising. They are birds that can swim super well but can’t fly at all. There are 18 kinds of them. They have strong bodies and short legs, which make them perfect for diving and swimming. Their strong wings with muscles (肌肉) help them move fast in water, and their feet and tails help them change direction.
Animals are full of unexpected surprises. Even after years of scientific study, we still find new and interesting things about them. The natural world is always wonderful to explore!

C. Lose the ability to walk on land.
D. Become too hot in the water.
25.Why can penguins move fast in the water
A. Because they have short and strong legs.
B. Because they have a big body and small tails.
C. Because they have strong wings with muscles.
D. Because they have big eyes on the top of their heads.
26.What does the writer think of the natural world
A. It’s a place full of surprises to explore.
B. It’s a place with some dangerous animals.
C. It’s a place with people’s interesting ideas.
D. It’s a place where animals are almost the same.

Yang Yanfeng is a bus driver of Route 102 in Yinchuan. She has worked on this job for 25 years. Route 102 is the busiest one in the city—it starts the earliest, finishes the latest and has the most passengers every day. But Yang has an amazing record: She drives one million kilometers safely with no accidents and no complaints (投诉) at all.
Yang is always kind to every passenger, and warm little moments fill her bus every day. One rainy day, an old man with a weak leg got on the bus very slowly. Yang stopped the bus at once and waited for him patiently. She even got up to support him step by step to a seat and told other passengers to look after him carefully. One cold winter evening, a little primary school student got on the bus alone, his hands red and frozen. Yang saw him, taking out a warm hand warmer from the convenience box and put it in his small hands. She even gave him a piece of candy to cheer him up. Such small but warm acts make her bus a happy and safe harbor for everyone.
To serve passengers better, Yang made a “Five-Heart Service Rule” by herself. She also put a convenience box on the bus, and filled it with medicines, raincoats, band-aids, hand warmers and other useful things by her own hands. She spends her free time remembering all the 138 stations and the places around them, so she can answer every passenger’s question easily. She is also good at saving energy. She found a smart way to use less natural gas (天然气) and shared it with her workmates, helping the company save more than 300 cubic meters of natural gas every month.
For 25 years, Yang has loved her job deeply. She works hard and is always ready to help others. In this ordinary ten-meter bus, she does great things with her kindness and responsibility. She often says, “This ten-meter bus is my home on the road, and making every passenger feel loved here is all I want.”

I ’m Li Hua, the manager of the School Radio Station. I’m giving this speech to call on you to join the Second-hand Items Drift Activity.
First of all, you can donate many useful things, such as textbooks, notebooks, school uniforms, stationery, storybooks and toys. What ’s more, please clean and pick out these items first to make sure they are tidy and usable. This activity is good for the society as well as the environment: It helps reuse the things well and also offers a big hand to kids in mountain areas who lack such items. Your small kindness will warm their hearts and light up their student life.
Let ’s take action right now and pass on the love! Thank you all!
Yours,
Li Hua
