阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。

You can’t just rely on textbooks to learn English,if you want to learn a foreign language well.Actually, you need an excellent language environment. This does not mean that you have to move abroad or live with foreigners. It is also a good way to read the original books, and the best and most reliable ones are the classics. Here are four famous books.Let’s see which one you are most interested in.
Ulysses
Ulysses did “stream of consciousness” before the term existed, and it’s also a complicated (难懂的) novel filled with references, wordplay, confusing jokes, and intense, personal reflections by the characters.
Moby-Dick
Moby-Dick has a fame for being very dull.Melville’s novel wasn’t received well on publication (it took decades before people really started to realize how great it is),and the negative evaluation (评价) is repeated every year when students are forced to read it.
Pride and Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice is a masterpiece in the literary world, being the inspiration, basis, and model for so many modern novels. You’re probably more familiar with its plot(情节) and characters than you think. For a book written in the early 19th century, its modernity is surprising only until you realize this is the novel that in many ways defines what a modern novel is.
The Big Sleep
It’s true that the book is written in what seems to modern audiences like a self-consciously tough style, peppered with old-fashioned expressions, and the plot is famously complicated, even for a mystery. It actually has several loose ends that never get solved, but it doesn’t matter.
21.Which book failed to be popular at first
A.Ulysses.
B.Moby-Dick.
C.Pride and Prejudice.
D.The Big Sleep.
22.What is special about Pride and Prejudice
A.It is full of confusing jokes.
B.It is famous for its dullness.
C.It is a typical modern novel.
D.It has some mysterious(神秘的) ends.
23.Where is the text probably taken from
A.A textbook.
B.A novel.
C.A travel brochure.
D.An English magazine.

Under a nearly full moon in the darkness of the night sky over Kansas,a group of student star watchers sat in a circle taking turns on the telescope(望远镜).They seemed very happy, very cheerful, and excited to experience new things.
It was a bonding experience that was out of this world, especially considering that only a day before they were as foreign to each other as the moon landscape itself.
This past summer more than 300 high school graduates signed up for the unique student exchange program.Unlike the well-known foreign exchange model that affords students a chance to study abroad, this program gives students the opportunity to soak in a brand new culture without ever leaving the country.
It’s called the American Exchange Project,or AEP for short,co-founded by 29-year-old Franely McCullough, grandson of the late Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough.“We fund kids to spend a week in the summer after senior year in an American town that is socio-economically and culturally different from the one that they’re growing up in,” McCullough said.
For the past three years McCullough’s been giving high school graduates that same experience, and so far at least,it’s having the influence he hoped it would.A week may not seem like a lot of time, but at the end of those seven days, you can see the kids have been bonded(联系) so much. One girl from South Dakota said,“I’ve never been a part of a community where I’m not the minority(少数).So,this is very much an experience that I really appreciate so much.”
McCullough hopes to offer the program to a million students by decade’s end,and all free of charge, thanks to big name donors, including the likes of Steven Spielberg.“I think this all ought to be as typical to the American high school experience as the graduating party,” McCullough said.“I think every kid in every town should have an experience like this.”
24.What do the underlined words “out of this world” mean in paragraph 2
A.Challenging. B.Confusing.
C.Wonderful. D.Meaningless.
25.What can we learn about the AEP project
A.It’s a summer camp for senior students.
B.It’s a free week-long trip in a new town.
C.It’s in honour of a late famous historian.
D.It’s a foreign exchange program in America.
26.Why does the author mention South Dakota in paragraph 5
A.To show the effect of the project.
B.To explain the origin of the project.
C.To predict the future of the project.
D.To invite more kids to join the project.
27.What is the best title of the text
A.Students Exploring the Universe by the Telescope
B.A New American Town Being Open to the Students
C.The Big Names Donating Fund to the Students’ Growth
D.Students Building Bridges Across the American Divide
C
Kids are three times more likely to choose to be Internet celebrities(名人) than astronauts(航天员),a survey found recently. Many are already on their way—more and more children are now making and sharing videos on social media.
Meanwhile, education experts worry that going after Internet fame won’t be good for children in the long run.Their biggest concern is that kids don’t know how being on the Internet today might affect them in the future. The parts of the brain that people use to make decisions don’t fully mature until around age 25,so children cannot imagine how their future might be affected by what they share now.
What’s worse, some parents, who are crazy about becoming famous on their own, can’t watch out for the best interests of their own children.A young mother,Michelle Hobson, was accused of starving and kicking her children when they didn’t do what she wished for in the videos. She was charged with child abuse and ordered to distance herself from kids.
Keeping famous on the Internet takes much time and patience, too. It can distract students away from homework, sports and other activities. For example, one of the superstars,14-year-old Emma Garza, dropped out of school to become a Vlogger(video blogger). She said that making videos was so tough that she couldn’t make time for study and even suffered back pain and weakening eyesight.
Although we don’t yet know the effects on a child’s development by constantly performing to entertain others,we can easily imagine that the effort to attract viewers will be less helpful to a kid, compared with spending that time reading a book. For a kid today, becoming an Internet superstar might not only be more popular than being an astronaut. It might also be more dangerous.
28.What problem is discussed in paragraph 1
A.Internet affects kids’ growth.
B.Young kids seek Internet fame.
C.Social media mislead children.
D.Children watch too many videos.
29.What is the major concern of education experts about children
A.Security. B.Family.
C.Study. D.Future.
30.Why is Emma Garza mentioned in the passage
A.To stress her success.
B.To introduce a new career.
C.To show the influence on students.
D.To encourage kids to be Vloggers.
31.What does the author think of children’s being an Internet celebrity
A.Negative. B.Doubtful.
C.Beneficial. D.Exciting.
D
There are plenty of opportunities to study and work abroad. But some early-career scientists might face challenges adapting to different communication styles and different workplaces. However, supervisors(主管) and junior researchers can reduce the risk of misunderstandings by actively learning about each other’s cultures and expressing workplace expectations clearly.
It is important to be sensitive(灵敏的) to cultural differences and to avoid misunderstandings.Nanda Dimitrov, director of Western University’s Teaching Support Centre in London, says that she personally experienced directness more often in the United Kingdom than in the United States. She points out that the relationship between junior researcher and supervisor is influenced by many factors including personality, former experiences and the department’s culture.
Keshun Zhang faced this issue after moving from China to the University of Konstanz in Germany to get his PhD in psychology. He was used to following teachers’ suggestions. But the culture in Germany always encourages you to argue,to fight for yourself. With his supervisor’s encouragement,he started pushing back. After his first year, his supervisor said,“Wow,finally you have learnt to say no.” Zhang also realized that he was expected to work independently. His supervisor urged him to try to solve problems on his own and to ask for guidance only if he became stuck.
“People sometimes brush off a student from another country as ‘rude’,but in their culture, they’re not,” says Amratia, who was a Kenya student at the University of Florida in Gainesville.“Researchers should also remember that their nation’s customs aren’t necessarily best. When you come from a different country, you don’t assume everybody should be doing things your way.I never cared if somebody was different from me as long as it didn’t seriously affect the rest of the lab,” Amratia said.
32.How do people going abroad avoid misunderstanding according to paragraph 1
A.By facing challenges bravely.
B.By introducing their own ideas.
C.By creating more communication chances.
D.By learning different cultures and expressing job expectations.
33.What does Nanda’s experience tell us
A.Don’t be too sensitive to different cultures.
B.People should experience different cultures.
C.British are more direct than Americans do.
D.The relationship among junior researchers is simple.
34.Which of the following is the German preference
A.Trying to support one’s own opinions.
B.Accepting advice of elders.
C.Pushing back supervisor’s encouragement.
D.Turning to others for help often.
35.What does Amratia suggest doing
A.Working independently and hard.
B.Respecting others’ different cultures.
C.Encouraging yourself to fight for yourself.
D.Talking with people with the same culture.

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Unaided,we can’t do anything without our feet.So why, when our quality of life is directly related to being active,do many of us ignore these two important parts of our body
36 In 2021,a study over a rise in foot issues(问题) and how poor foot health affects everything from physical activity to the overall health of able-bodied people was conducted.“Foot problems can reduce quality of life, lead to loss of balance, make it difficult to put on shoes and increase the risk of falling,” the authors wrote in the journal Scientific Reports.Meanwhile,a 2017 study, also in Spain,of able-bodied university students confirmed this too. 37 It increased their risk of being socially cut off.
If foot pain limits your activity and lasts more than a week, says Paul Langer,a sports-medicine podiatrist(足疗医生),it’s time to see a doctor for foot treatment. 38 They’re like the base of the Tower of Pisa. When they’re off,the tower leans(倾斜).
Therefore, keeping our foot happy is rather critical(关键的). 39 Experts say every move we make creates a chain reaction in our muscles, and joints(关节).
The foot is the driver of all movement. 40 If a foot doesn’t work normally,it can drive everything up the chain to be of disfunction, too. The key to a healthy foot is strength and mobility through the hips(臀部).Therefore our feet need help from their friends above to keep them working properly.
A.Spanish scientists expressed concern.
B.All of this can affect activities of daily living.
C.In fact, seeking help from experts is the best way.
D.Poor foot health prevented them from being physically active.
E.Taking care of your feet sometimes begins elsewhere in your body.
F.When the foot hits the ground, everything else in the body changes.
G.If the feet aren’t performing properly, they throw everything else off.

One day,I read a very sad story about a police dog named Solo that had been sent into a building to catch a suspect(犯罪嫌疑人).The last thing Solo did before entering the building was to lick his owner’s face.A few minutes later,Solo was shot and killed in the line of duty.I knew how sad that officer must have felt because my own dog,Kela, had recently died.
The article went on to tell about a fundraiser(募捐活动) that was going on to help buy bulletproof vests(防弹背心) for the police dogs there.I thought every police dog should be protected just like the police.I may be a kid,but why can’t I do a fundraiser to help save the dogs in our area
Then I found out that a bulletproof vest for a police dog costs $475.My mom thought it was a lot of money for an eleven-year-old girl to raise, but she told me to go ahead and try anyway.
We called our local Oceanside Police Department and learned that their dogs needed bulletproof vests. At that point,I realized that I needed a name for the fundraiser and thought since I was trying to protect just one dog’s life,I would call my program Vest A Dog.
I decided that vet’s and pet stores would be really good places to go with donation boxes and Vest A Dog fliers(传单).I used little green take-out boxes, decorated with a picture of Tiko, the dog I chose to vest, and me.I wrote on each box “Help protect the life of a police dog by donating a dollar.”
One afternoon, after all the boxes had been placed throughout our community,I got a call from a local newspaper reporter who had seen one of my fliers. The reporter decided to do an article about Vest A Dog.That ought to spread the word,I thought.I asked Officer Jim Wall, who is Tiko’s partner,if they would have their picture taken with me for the article and they did.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。

第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
You can’t just rely on textbooks to learn English,if you want to learn a foreign language well.Actually, you need an excellent language environment.

A.It is full of confusing jokes.
B.It is famous for its dullness.

第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
36.答案 A
解析 根据后文“In 2021,a study over a rise in foot issues(问题) and how poor foot health affects everything from physical activity to the overall health of able-bodied people was conducted.”以及“Meanwhile,a 2017 study, also in Spain,of able-bodied university students confirmed this too.”
37.答案 D
解析 前文“Meanwhile,a 2017 study, also in Spain,of able-bodied university students confirmed this too.”点明了对健全大学生的研究证实了足部问题的影响,后文“It increased their risk of being socially cut off.”点明了后果,D选项“脚部健康状况不佳使他们无法进行体育活动”进一步阐述了研究结果并与下文逻辑递承,符合语境,故选D。
38.答案 G
解析 后文“They’re like the base of the Tower of Pisa. When they’re off,the tower leans(倾斜).”
39.答案 E
解析 后文“Experts say every move we make creates a chain reaction in our muscles, and joints(关节).”提到了专家指出我们的每一个动作都会在肌肉和关节中产生连锁反应,故E选项“照顾你的脚有时要从身体的其他部位开始”可引出后文内容,符合语境,故选E。
40.答案 F
解析 前文“The foot is the driver of all movement.”点明足部是所有运动的驱动者,后文“If a foot doesn’t work normally,it can drive everything up the chain to be of disfunction, too.”提到如果我们的脚无法正常工作,就会影响与之相关的部位,由此可知脚的运动会影响其他身体部位。故F选项“当脚着地时,身体的其他部位都会发生变化”符合语境,故选F。

参考范文
After the article came out,I eagerly checked to see if there were any donations.Every day after school,I rushed to each location, hoping to find the boxes filled with contributions. To my delight,I started noticing more and more people stopping by the boxes, curious about Vest A Dog and willing to donate.Children were emptying their piggy banks, while adults were digging into their wallets for spare change or even writing checks. The community’s response was overwhelming, and my heart swelled with gratitude.
About three weeks later,I counted the money from all of the boxes. With trembling hands,I separated the bills and coins,triple-checking each count. The total amount astounded me—it was far beyond what I had ever imagined. We had managed to raise not just enough for one vest, but sufficient funds for multiple vests.I couldn’t wait to share the news with Officer Jim Wall and Tiko.Their joy and appreciation upon hearing the update was priceless and I realized that no dream is too big,and even a young heart can make a significant impact.
