Have you dreamed of traveling around to enrich your life? Here are some destinations where you can open the door to some wonders.
Athens Riviera, Greece
Flying or boating to a Greek island is a great treat. But you can have a similar experience on the Athens Riviera. Here you can enjoy the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, fresh seafood and quiet seaside villages. And all of this is just a short walk away from Athens, a lively European city full of culture and history, including stories from ancient Greek myths (传说).

As rebuilding efforts continue following the September 2023 earthquake in the Atlas Mountains, tourism in Morocco is more important than ever in 2026, considering its influence on the national economy and the local communities it supports. Most sites in Marrakech are welcoming travelers back, while guests at the recently reopened Virgin Limited Edition Kasbah Tamadot in the Atlas Mountains can continue to donate to rebuilding local communities.
The Magdalena River, Colombia
Flowing northward across Colombia between two Andean mountains, the Magdalena River is one of South America’s most attractive waterways. It is a gateway to historic towns from the Spanish Colonial Age and jungles full of wild birds and other wildlife. Even as the rest of the country has opened to tourism, though, the Magdalena River has remained nearly untouched until now.
Calabria, Italy
Calabria, the “toe (脚尖)” of Italy’s “boot”, may be one of the country’s most less-visited regions, but it presents culture, traditional food, history and natural beauty in unexpected ways. Traveling in its wild spaces, you can still see shepherds (牧羊人) walking mountain roads in groups; visit families making silk, olive oil, wine and cheese the way that has been used for generations; and explore centuries-old villages like Badolato. You can also visit ancient ruins, some of which date back to Magna Graecia when the Greeks arrived in the 8th century B.C.

My average screen time is eight hours and 44 minutes per day — more time than I spend sleeping. This makes me fit into the category of being “chronically online”, defined as someone whose entire life revolves around the internet.
So I decided to change my lifestyle and use a dumbphone. Apart from making calls and taking photos, I couldn’t use the flip phone’s features unless I was connected to Wi-Fi.
The first two days of my grand experiment started on a weekend. My anxiety kicked in immediately. I assumed I was missing out on an event. As a result, I started calling my friends and family just to make sure that I wasn’t.
I asked Lindsay Bira, a clinical health psychologist based in Florida, why my decision to downgrade initially made me more anxious.
“Being alone or disconnected from what’s going on can be read by the deep brain as a survival threat when it really isn’t a threat,” Bira said. “It is important to learn how to tolerate the feeling of being disconnected or left out until our brain understands that it is not a problem, which allows us to self-regulate without reaching for the phone, and we develop a deeper, healthier connection to ourselves.”
I started calling friends to hang out, rediscovering the lost art of phone conversations. It reduces miscommunication compared to texting and makes me a better listener, helping me feel more connected.
“If someone is always on their phone, they are training loved ones to lean away from them emotionally” Bira said. She emphasized the importance of eye contact, attention, and proper feedback to make people feel truly cared for.
After the week was over, I had broken the habit of mindlessly unlocking my iPhone and opening countless apps for fresh news and information. Instead, I turned to different outlets for news at work, rather than simply scrolling through social media posts.
4. Why did the author switch to a dumbphone?
A. To reduce phone usage. B. To break internet addiction.
C. To follow a trendy lifestyle. D. To improve mental health.
5. What does Lindsay Bira advise us to do when feeling disconnected?
A. Remove threats to our survival. B. Distract ourselves with technology.
C. Accept the feeling until our brain adjusts. D. Avoid situations that can cause anxiety.
6. According to Lindsay Bira, how could a person’s frequent phone usage potentially affect their loved ones?
A. Create emotional distance. B. Train them to be better listeners.
C. Make them prioritize phone conversations. D. Encourage a greater reliance on technology.
7. Which of the following might be the most suitable title for the text?
A. Reconnecting with nature and the self B. Unplugging for a tech-free lifestyle
C. Creating space for family relationships D. Disconnecting for inner peace and connection

A subway line that links downtown Beijing with Daxing International Airport in the Chinese capital now allows passengers to enter and exit stations by just scanning the palm of a hand, setting an example of how using biometric data in public transportation can make commuting more convenient.
The pilot program was launched on Sunday on the Daxing Airport Express subway line to spare passengers the trouble of swiping a card (刷卡) or scanning a QR code to catch a train , the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport said.
Any commuter aged 14 and above can first register the print of either palm through a simple, automated process and provide relevant information to authorize the payment gateway of WeChat, a popular messaging app in China. Once the palm print is registered, a commuter can scan the palm at any automated ticket gate to pass through. The fare is automatically paid after exit. Besides, the registration is a one-time process and doesn’t require renewal.
“Passengers can just place a palm above the scanning machine when entering or exiting a subway station. The ticket gate will open if the palm scan matches the palm print registered voluntarily,” said Zhang Li, an expert at the Beijing Metro Network Control Center.
The biometric method combines the use of palm print and vein mapping, which are different for every individual. Therefore, data masking and encryption (加密) technologies have been applied to protect user information.
Xin Jianhua, general manager of the public service center at WeChat Pay, said palm scans can be gradually used in offices, schools, gyms and restaurants, as it requires no contact and is therefore safer and more efficient. “Currently, it is very useful for the elderly and those who have physical limitations,” he said. “Use of biometric data allows passengers to take subway trains if they do not have cash or when they forget their subway cards,” he added.
8. What do we know about palm scanning?
A. Anyone aged 14 and above has to register the print.
B. There is an automatic payment after exit
C. Passengers should have both palms registered.
D. The registration needs updating every year.
9. What does the underlined word “masking” probably mean?
A. Removing. B. Decoding. C. Uploading. D. Hiding
10. Which statement may Xin Jianhua disagree with?
A. Palm scanning is of limited use to the disabled.
B. The new technology is more time-saving.
C. The future of palm scans is promising
D. Palm scanning spares passengers the trouble of taking cards.
11. What’s the main idea of this article?
A. The ways of riding the subway in Beijing.
B. Beijing’s introduction of palm-print access on a subway line
C. People’s attitudes towards palm scanning in the subway.
D. The advantages of scanning palms to enter and exit subway stations.

Around Christmas, 50-year-old New Yorker Holly Jespersen felt unwell but hesitated to see a doctor. She turned to ChatGPT, which advised her against visiting. Days later, with a high fever and headaches, again using the chatbot to decide when, she finally went to urgent care and was diagnosed with influenza A.
Holly is far from alone. According to OpenAI, over 40 million daily health-related enquiry, with 230 million weekly. In January, it announced ChatGPT Health, allowing users to upload medical records for customized (定制的) support. The company stresses it is meant to “support, not replace” medical care, not for diagnosis or treatment, but to help with everyday questions and pattern recognition.
Yet concerns arise. Family physician Dr. Alexa Mieses Malchuk warns that ChatGPT, like WebMD, prioritizes being helpful over accurate. A 2023 study found ChatGPT’s cancer treatment plans contained many errors, some hard even for experts to detect. However, newer research on colon cancer showed its answers on symptoms and prevention were highly accurate, suggesting LLMs (大型语言模型) may assist patient education but not clinical decisions.
Beyond accuracy, psychologists highlight anxiety risks. A 2013 study confirmed that online symptom searches can intensify health anxiety, especially for those intolerant of uncertainty. Clinical psychologist Elizabeth Sadock notes that ChatGPT, always available and affirming, fuels reassurance-seeking (寻求慰藉) behavior, trapping users in a cycle of anxiety. For some patients, limiting ChatGPT use may now be part of treatment.
Privacy is another puzzle. Biomedical informatics professor Bradley Malin acknowledges OpenAI’s security efforts, but stresses ChatGPT Health falls outside HIPAA regulation. Patients may unknowingly lose legal protections when their data flows from secured medical records to an unregulated third party.
Yet some see value. Dermatologist Kumar views ChatGPT Health as educational, clarifying terms like sunscreen types, not diagnostic. He distinguishes it from WebMD’s curated, reviewed content, while ChatGPT’s AI may mislead.
Thus, ChatGPT Health enters America’s broken system as a double-edged sword: a round-the-clock assistant that may empower (赋权) patients, yet risks misinforming, over-reassuring, and exposing them to unregulated data practices.
12. Why does OpenAI launch ChatGPT Health?
A. To replace medical care totally. B. To provide consultation timely.
C. To treat the patients early. D. To diagnose diseases quickly.
13. What can we learn from paragraphs 3-5?
A. ChatGPT may lead to more risks than benefits.
B. ChatGPT is always available, helpful and accurate.
C. Psychologists advise people not to use ChatGPT.
D. People will have no privacy when using ChatGPT.
14. How does Kumar find ChatGPT?
A. It teaches patients some medical terms.
B. It can be used as an assistant to patients.
C. It can help more patients cure diseases.
D. It has more advantages than disadvantages.
15. What is the author’s attitude toward ChatGPT Health?
A. Enthusiastic and supportive. B. Cautious and optimistic.
C. Disapproving and negative. D. Critical and loyal.

Achieving success is not merely a matter of luck or talent. ____16____ Here are some basic principles that people of achievement live by and you can apply them starting today.
People of achievement create an environment that breeds (孕育) success. That means that you shouldn’t keep company with negative people, read information made for the masses, eat unhealthy food, or the like. ____17____ Instead, communicate with those with similar goals, read biographies of successful people, go to places that increase your energy, and take care of your health. All that is part of the person you’re trying to become.
People of achievement don’t listen to naysayers (反对者). There will be at least a few people in your surroundings that will tell you that your goal is not worth pursuing, that what you’re doing is crazy, and that your idea is impossible. ____18____ Successful people maintain an unwavering belief in their abilities and direction, even when faced with doubt or criticism from others.
____19____ If you avoid learning new stuff, you’re only getting further from success. But prosperous people, hard-working entrepreneurs, high achievers and outstanding artists all constantly learn new things. They learn from others, from the past, reading, and travelling and get to know themselves more. That helps them go beyond themselves every day.
People of achievement work smarter. The average person wastes a lot of time daily doing meaningless things like overthinking, feeling sorry for himself, being lazy and more. Highly productive individuals get better at time management, eliminate anything that’s not productive, wake up earlier, stop multitasking, delegate (把……委托给) and automate what they can and have more time to do what matters. ____20____
A. It’s rooted in intentional choices in life.
B. People of achievement don’t make excuses.
C. People of achievement are all students of life.
D. They appreciate what’s around them right now.
E. It’s about doing the right things, not just doing more.
F. Your job is to ignore that and focus on your vision instead.
G. All those affect your judgment, energy levels, health, and success.

My parents do a lot of embarrassing things! Usually, it’s my dad who sings silly songs or tells jokes around my friends. But a few weeks ago, it was my mother who played the embarrassing-parent role.
While my mom and I were shopping, we ran into my teacher, who mentioned the school didn’t have a music teacher to help our class put together a performance for Winter Fair. And, then my mom said, “I know the perfect song and dance. I’ll teach it to the kids!”
Before I could say “Please don’t”, my mom had agreed to come to my class every morning at 9:30 for a week. Oh, and just to be clear, it’s not as if she’s a professional entertainer. My parents run a small grocery store, and the only singing my mom does is in the shower.
“Mom,” I said on our way home, “Are you sure this is such a good idea?” “Of course!” she said. “If we want your school Winter Fair to happen, people need to step up and volunteer.” She laughed, “We will have fun!”
“OK, kids!” my teacher said at 9:28 on Monday. “We’re going to stop silent reading a little early today because a special guest is here to help us with a performance for Winter Fair. Let’s all welcome Arizona’s mother.”
I looked up to discover my mom standing in the front of the room wearing the world’s silliest hat. “I’m super excited to be here with you!” my mom said, “I’m going to teach you a fun little song-and-dance performance I learned a few years ago. Here goes!” Oh please, oh please, I said over and over in my head, let there be a fire drill, or a power failure, or anything to stop my mom from completely embarrassing herself-and me!
But apparently, my mom was not at all concerned about looking silly. She turned on some background music and started singing and dancing away.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
“I can’t believe this is happening” was all I could think.

Dear teachers and schoolmates,
Good morning! It’s my pleasure to share my thoughts on exercise and health today.
Regular exercise is the foundation of a strong body and a positive mood. It not only strengthens our muscles and improves our physical fitness, but also helps us relieve academic stress and stay in a good state of mind. On campus, we have plenty of easy and accessible choices: we can jog along the playground in the morning, skip ropes during breaks, or play basketball and badminton with classmates after class. These activities don’t require any special equipment, just our enthusiasm and persistence.
I sincerely suggest that every one of us should spend at least 30 minutes exercising every day and develop a lifelong habit of keeping fit. Let’s move our bodies and embrace a healthy life together!
Thank you!
【答案】One Possible Version
“I can’t believe this is happening” was all I could think. I closed my eyes, covered my ears and shrank as low as I possibly could in my chair. After a few seconds, though. I gathered courage to uncover one ear and peek through a half-open eye. That’s when I saw the expression of pure joy on my mom’s face. She was having so much fun that I couldn’t help smiling. My classmates clapped and cheered, and I heard someone say, “Wow! Arizona’s mother is pretty talented!”
My mom turned out to be very good at performing. She was also good at teaching us the song and the dance steps. too. We learned quickly. By the time of the fair, I was actually proud of her for putting herself out there for us kids. Our performance at the Winter Fair was a huge success. As we drove home, I said to my mom, “I’m really glad you volunteered to help my class with the performance.” My mom reached back and squeezed my hand. “Thanks for saying that. I can see why you might have been embarrassed, but I had such a great time.”
