二、设计思想The teaching design emphasizes the actual acquisition of students’ learning engagement. Through various teaching methods and activities, it guides students to explore the thematic meaning of the text and cultivates their language competence, thinking quality, cultural awareness, and learning ability in the process. It promotes students to conduct in-depth exploration of the text, gain new knowledge, and develop their thinking, enabling students to identify truth, goodness, and beauty in solving problems.
三、学习者特征(学情分析)The target learners for this lesson are students in the second semester of Senior One. After studying in junior high school and the first semester of Grade 1, they have acquired certain listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, as well as the ability to extract useful information from texts. They have also mastered some basic vocabulary and grammar. More importantly, they are interested in English class. However, their foundation is so weak since the vocabulary they have accumulated is not large enough. Due to the poor listening and speaking ability, they are difficult to follow the teacher and react quickly and are not confident in the class. Hence, the teacher should encourage them more and give more effective guidance, aiming to promote the cultivation of reading strategies and skills, the training of comprehensive language skills, the development of critical thinking and the exploration of the thematic meaning.
四、教学内容与任务Topic context: People and society Type of text: BiographyText analysis: What: The text is selected from PEP (2019) Book 3 Unit 2. The theme of this unit is Morals and Virtues, while the theme of the Reading and Thinking section is “Learn to make choices in life”. The text is a biographical essay, which narrates Lin Qiaozhi's life in a chronological order, focusing on the life choices she has faced, such as: Should she marry according to the traditional Chinese moral values, or pursue her medical dream despite the high tuition fees Stay in a foreign country with favorable conditions and bright prospects, or return to work for the motherland with great suffering Choose to have a small family of your own, or work tirelessly for the countless families in China The choices Lin Qiaozhi made all reflect her firm faith, great soul, high professional responsibility and dedication.How: The text is a chronological description of Lin Qiaozhi's life, which focuses on the life choices she once faced. Amazing woman and hard choices as the clue, students can understand Lin Qiaozhi's good moral character through her life experiences and choices, and to think about how to face their own life choices and become a person with good moral character.Why: Through the study of Lin Qiaozhi's biography, students can think about how to face the choices and challenges of life, establish correct moral values, consciously observe and practice traditional Chinese virtues, and enhance their sense of social responsibility.
