Step 1 Warming-up
1. Present Ss some pictures to talk about the sea.
2. Brainstorm:What is your first impression of the sea
设计意图:谈论并激活与海洋相关的相关话题,引入主题。并通过头脑风暴,拓展与海洋相关的词汇。
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Look at the pictures. Use the words and phrases to describe the pictures.
2. You are going to read a text adapted from the short story “A Descent into the Maelstrom”. Read Fact File on page 30 and answer the questions.
(1) What is a “Moskoe-strom”
(2) Who wrote the story
设计意图:引导学生根据提供的三幅图,描述图片内容,并学习Fact File,获取本故事的作者Edgar Allen Poe的基本信息,并了解大漩涡海洋专业词汇,为阅读做好准备。

Write a story about something scary or unusual you experienced or you know.
