Pilotti, inspired by Peking Opera’s unique theatrical style, decided to become an actor at an early age and
chose to study physical theater at a Finnish university.
In 2009, as an exchange student, he arrived at the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts in Beijing to
study Peking Opera for six months. Despite lacking Chinese language skills and Peking Opera background, he
grasped the art form with the academy’s strict teaching. In 2010 and 2014, he returned to the National Academy of
Chinese Theatre Arts to continue studying Peking Opera, which he later integrated into his original productions in
Sweden.
In recent years, Pilotti has created theater pieces inspired by traditional Chinese stories—The Monkey King
and Jingwei. The Monkey King show, featuring Peking Opera movements to express the character’s characteristics,
has been really successful. “We’ve performed over 150 times and people are still coming,” Pilotti says. “The
Monkey King is a famous character with many adaptations, so the audience already know a bit about him. But,
when they can see the character up close in the show, it can be a surprise.”
Apart from merging Peking Opera elements with Western physical theater, Pilotti also engages children by
interacting during shows and teaching them movements in workshops.
In addition to theater productions, he has been working as a cultural ambassador between China and Sweden,
performing Peking Opera on variety shows, appearing in online videos, and giving speeches at forums.

Researchers analyzed data from over 500,000 individuals across 20 countries and found four healthy behaviors
could extend life expectancy by 6-7 years, regardless of genetic tendency. “Your DNA isn’t destiny when it comes

The study identified four key factors: avoiding smoking, maintaining regular physical activity, keeping
moderate alcohol consumption, and eating a balanced diet rich in plants. Surprisingly, participants with high
genetic risk for early death but excellent lifestyle habits lived nearly 5 years longer than those with low genetic risk

benefits from their traditional diets and strong community ties.
Technological advances allowed precision in measurements of the study. Researchers used wrist-worn activity
trackers to monitor exercise levels and AI-assisted analysis of dietary patterns. Blood biomarkers revealed how
quickly participants were aging at the cellular level.
While the study confirms genetics influence about 20-30% of lifespan variation, its most encouraging finding
is that lifestyle adaptations remain effective at any age. “It’s never too late to benefit,” emphasizes Petrov. The
team now investigates how digital health tools could personalize longevity recommendations, potentially narrowing
health inequality gaps across populations.

While many struggle to buy a house, more British people are choosing to live on boats instead. There were
about 35,000 boats on canals (运河) in England and Wales in 2022, an increase of 33% over the past two decades.

Jonti Honer, a 37-year-old musician, lived on a narrow boat for several years in and around London, enjoying
the outdoorsy lifestyle. “I love waking up to the water. One month, I’d been in the city heart, and the next, flowed
to cows in the countryside,” he recalled.
Beyond the beauty and exploration, the lower cost and sense of independence are also attractive. Moreover,
living on a canal boat is in line with the concept of green living, as it produces fewer carbon emissions compared to
traditional housing, with less energy consumption for heating and cooling and a reduced reliance on large-scale
infrastructure.
While costs vary, buying a narrowboat for canal life averages between 50,000 pounds and 100,000 pounds for
smaller to medium-sized boats, according to Narrowboats.UK. That’s cheaper than buying an apartment in London,
where in the richest regions, prices average around 600,000 pounds.
“Living on a boat was much cheaper than renting. Renting in a shared house for two months cost the same as
the boat’s license and insurance. Maintenance costs were higher, but at least I was in control,” said Jonti.
However, life on water isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. There are still things to consider. “It’s hard work with
constant maintenance and moving the boat every two weeks to follow guidelines for live-aboard boaters, emptying
the toilet and filling the boat with water were routine tasks. I used launderettes for clothes as having a washing
machine about isn’t practical,” said Jonti.
Despite the inconveniences, Jonti fondly remembers his time owning a boat. “You become very practical,
learning to maintain the boat yourself. Everyone is friendly and helpful with an ‘all-in-it-together’ kind of feel,” he
concluded.
