I still keep a small wooden box on my desk. It is not expensive, but it holds the sweetest memory between my best friend Lucy and me.
We became friends in Grade 7. Lucy was quiet and good at drawing, while I was outgoing and loved writing. We always shared secrets, walked home together and encouraged each other in study. We promised to be lifelong friends.
Unluckily, I had to move to another city at the end of Grade 8. When I told Lucy the news, her eyes turned red. We didn’t say much, but we both felt sad.
On my last school day, Lucy gave me the wooden box. Inside it were dozens of small hand-drawn cards. Each card had warm words and lovely pictures she drew for me. She said, “Take this box with you. Whenever you miss me, open one card. I will always be your friend.”
After leaving the city, we keep in touch by chatting online. We share our daily life, talk about study pressure and cheer each other up. Although we are far apart, our friendship never fades.
Now whenever I open that wooden box, I can still feel the warmth of true friendship. It tells me that real friendship doesn’t depend on distance. True friends will always stay in your heart, no matter how far they are.

Nowadays, many teenagers depend too much on mobile phones. They use phones to watch short videos, play online games and chat with friends. However, spending too much time on phones brings many problems to middle school students.
First, it is bad for health. Looking at the screen for long hours hurts our eyes and makes our neck and shoulder uncomfortable. Many students become short-sighted at a young age because of overusing phones. What’s more, staying up late playing games makes them tired and weak.
Second, it influences study. When students can’t put down their phones, they can’t focus on lessons or homework. Some even play phones secretly in class. Their grades slowly fall down day by day.
Third, it affects real-life communication. Some students prefer to chat online rather than talk with their parents and classmates face to face. They become shy and afraid of speaking in public.
Mobile phones are not bad in themselves. We can use them to look up new words, search for learning materials and get useful information. The key is to use them in a proper way. As middle school students, we should make a time plan for phone use, stay away from meaningless games and spend more time on reading, sports and staying with family.
What is the main problem mentioned in the passage
A. Teenagers overuse mobile phones
B. Mobile phones are getting more expensive
C. Students have no time to exercise
Which is NOT a result of overusing phones
A. Being bad for eyes
B. Grades getting better
C. Feeling tired and weak
Why do some students become shy
A. They spend too much time studying
B. They seldom talk with people face to face
C. They have no friends at school
What does the writer advise students to do
A. Never use mobile phones at all
B. Use phones properly and make a time plan
C. Play online games to relax

Developing a good study habit is important for every middle school student. However, many students don’t know how to manage their time and study efficiently. Here are some practical suggestions.
Many students start studying as soon as they get home, but they often think about playing games or chatting with friends at the same time. 26 You need to put away your phone and stay away from all kinds of distractions before you start to study. Only when you pay full attention can you learn things well in a short time.
27 If you always wait until the last minute to finish homework, you will feel stressed and can’t think clearly. Making a daily plan helps you arrange tasks in order. You can do easy homework first, and then deal with difficult subjects when your mind is clear.
It is common for students to forget what they have learned after only a few days. 28 Instead of cramming all knowledge before exams, you should go over your lessons every few days. Regular review can help you keep knowledge in mind for a long time.
Studying all day without rest will make your brain tired and less active. 29 Taking a 10-minute walk or looking out of the window can relax your eyes and clear your mind. Proper rest always makes your study more effective.
Besides study ways, your living habit also matters a lot. 30 It is hard to focus on study if you stay up late and feel sleepy in class. A regular timetable keeps your body and brain in good condition.
A. Never leave today’s work till tomorrow.
B. You should focus on one thing at a time.
C. Don’t spend too much time on after-school activities.
D. It’s necessary to take short breaks during long study.
E. Going to bed early and getting up early is a good choice.
F. Reviewing old lessons is better than only learning new ones.
