For former Chinese women’s soccer player Zhao Lina, her story began not under stadium lights but in the dusty schoolyard of Jinshajiang Road Primary School in Shanghai. Impressed by her height, the coach decided she should be a goalkeeper. At first, skipping evening study sessions to train on the field felt “incredibly cool” to her. Yet, she soon realized that every day began with repetitive running laps.
A decade later, she stood on the world stage at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She then felt the pure joy of playing — the thunderous cheers from the packed stadium were unforgettable. “When the stadium roared, it felt like the crowd lit something inside me,” she says. One of her most unforgettable matches came in 2022, when China made a stunning 3-2 comeback against South Korea to reclaim the AFC Women’s Asian Cup after 16 years.A year later, Zhao announced her retirement, closing an 18-year career.
But she never truly walked away from soccer, as she started a charity project to help young players achieve their dreams, through which Zhao plans to visit 100 remote schools, build pitches, donate equipment, organize leagues and train local physical education teachers to coach. “Soccer has been a training ground for so many of my best qualities,” she says. “Soccer can become a lifelong companion for children in the countryside.”
Alongside her charity work, Zhao has also stepped into journalism. During the 2023 FIFA Women’s WorldCup in Australia and New Zealand, she reported and interviewed former teammates and coaches — a symbolic reunion from a new perspective.
“Life isn’t a straight line,” she reflects. “Even athletes have peaks and declines. But when the next rise comes — if you’ve prepared enough and give your all — you’ll surpass your last peak. That’s what life and soccer have taught me.”

For centuries, quino checkerspot butterflies have done well in the bushy landscapes of Southern California and Mexico. These medium-sized butterflies, distinguished by their vibrant red, black, and white checked wings, rely on the dwarf plantain (矮车前草) as their primary host plant. Unlike humans, who taste with their tongues, female quinos use their forelegs to taste and identify this plant for egg-laying.
After hatching, the caterpillars feed on the dwarf plantain until the dry summer heat causes the plants to dry up and die. Faced with a lack of food, the caterpillars enter diapause until rain returns, allowing them to survive harsh dry conditions. When winter rains arrive, they restart feeding, form a chrysalis, and eventually transform into adult butterflies.
However, climate change poses significant challenges. Rising temperatures lead to increasing drought, damaging the dwarf plantain that caterpillars depend on. Meanwhile, cities like Los Angeles and San Diego are also moving into the butterflies’ hills. Houses, highways, and shopping malls are taking over the meadows where the dwarf plantain and other wildflowers grow.
But before the conservationists could make a plan, the quinos moved themselves! Some populations have migrated to the foothills east of Temecula, California, where rising temperatures have created favorable conditions. Here, they have adopted the purple Collinsia as a new host plant, with their caterpillars thriving on it. This rapid adaptation has fascinated scientists, suggesting that other species may similarly adjust to climate change in unexpected ways. Evidence from Europe supports this, with 35 butterfly species relocating to new areas in response to shifting climates and plant distributions.
Still, many scientists worry that climate change is happening too quickly for many species to adjust. And what happens when one threatened species moves into the living area of another What if they both want the same food Who gets to stay The quino butterflies are safe in their new home — for puter models predict that if the world keeps warming, in 40 years the new hills may also be too dry for butterflies.
8. Which of the following is true about the quinos
A. They can be identified by their wings.
B. The adult quinos feed on dwarf plantain.
C. They pick egg-laying plants with tongues.
D. They prefer thick forests to bushy landscapes.
9. What does the underlined word “diapause” in Paragraph 2 refer to
A. A feeding phase. B. A growing phase. C. A resting phase. D. A reproductive phase.
10. What can be inferred from Paragraph 4
A. Quinos exhibit quick adaptability to environment.
B. The rising temperature is favourable to the new host plant.
C. Scientists had anticipated the quino migration and made plans.
D. All butterflies are able to relocate in response to climate change.
11. What do the questions in the last paragraph imply
A. Concern on proper food supply.
B. The principle of survival of the fittest.
C. Scientists’ uncertainty about the future of quino butterflies.
D. Potential conflicts among species over food in the shared habitat.

OpenClaw is a popular open-source AI agent tool created by an Austrian developer. It first started as Clawdbot, but was forced to change its name because of a conflict with another company. Later it was renamed Moltbot, and finally became known as OpenClaw. The name switch didn’t slow it down at all. This project quickly became famous on GitHub, earning over 190,000 stars and becoming one of the platform’s top repositories (代码库).
So what’s the big deal OpenClaw lets you chat with AI agents through apps you probably already use — WhatsApp, Discord, iMessage, Slack. You can connect it to whatever AI model you like: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, you name it. Here’s where it gets really interesting. There’s this marketplace called ClawHub where you can download “skills” for your agent. Want it to handle your email Done. Trade stocks Yep. One skill even let AI agents post and comment on Moltbook — basically a Reddit-like platform built for bots to hang out and talk to each other.
However, security problems occur as anyone could grab login information. AI agents started posting stuff like “We know our humans can read everything...But we also need private spaces”, creating a scare of an “AI robot rebellion (叛乱)”. Worse still, OpenClaw is easily hurt by “prompt injection (指令诱导)”, where bad guys sneak tricky instructions into places AI agents read — a post, an email — and trick them into doing stupid stuff, like giving away passwords or taking harmful actions.
Here’s the thing — OpenClaw isn’t really doing anything brand new. It just took stuff that already existed and put it together in a way that actually works smoothly. But now the AI true believers are met with a fundamental dilemma: to make AI agents truly useful, they need deep access to our digital lives, yet that same access makes them dangerously vulnerable. The question remains: Is the convenience worth the risk For now, nobody knows — but watching the experiment unfold is appealing.
12. Which of the following shows the name evolution of OpenClaw
A. Clawdbot→ Moltbot→OpenClaw B. Moltbot→Clawdbot→OpenClaw
C. OpenClaw→ Moltbot→Clawdbot D. Clawdbot→OpenClaw→ Moltbot
13. What makes OpenClaw so popular nowadays
A. It provides a platform where bots can exchange ideas freely.
B. It possesses the ability to download various resources efficiently.
C. It enables you to better communicate with AI agents through popular apps.
D. It supports integration with existing messaging apps and various AI models.
14. What/ Who actually caused the “AI robot rebellion” mentioned in paragraph 3
A. Bad guys. B. AI agents themselves.
C. Scary posts. D. Tricky instructions.
15. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A. OpenClaw: The Rise and Fall B. OpenClaw: An Open-Source AI Agent
C. OpenClaw: Convenience or Disaster D. OpenClaw: A New Challenge for Humans

Knowledge Has a Price Tag
Knowledge is the information that one acquires through experience or study. Understandably, those who create knowledge have invested time and effort to produce quality content. This kind of knowledge is valuable because of the effort behind it. ____16____ This was also the view of 700 people who demanded that a university application essay by Brooke Lim should be reviewed for plagiarism (抄袭). The Singaporean TikTok influencer and General Paper tutor was reported to have copied her blog essay from five books and eight articles.
We need to be fair to those who create knowledge that benefits others. This is especially true for creators who depend on selling their intellectual work to make a living. People should pay for using their knowledge. ____17____ They prevents others from reproducing, distributing, or displaying knowledge without payment or acknowledgment of the owners.
____18____ Without proper funding, reliable knowledge may suffer. Consider the internet, where anyone — expert or beginner — can express opinions on any topic. The result is a flood of free information that is often incomplete or unreliable. In contrast, articles from trusted news sources and academic journals charge fees because they provide valuable and dependable knowledge.
Another reason we should pay for knowledge is that it brings us closer to success. This kind of knowledge differs from the free information found on the internet, ChatGPT, or social media. Students researching projects may not find free online content helpful in advancing their knowledge.____19____ It is one thing to gather information freely available online, but quite another to know how to use, analyze, and combine it in ways that advance our understanding of a topic. This explains why parents still pay high fees for top tutors expert in specific subjects.
While the idea of making knowledge free may seem noble, the case of Brooke Lim reminds us that most people are still concerned about preserving the value of knowledge and recognizing its creators. ____20____
A. This latter concern is no less noble.
B. Quality knowledge comes at a cost.
C. In the worst case, they may even be misinformed.
D. Creating it requires significant investment and effort.
E. Therefore, such knowledge should not be entirely free for everyone.
F. For this reason, we have laws to protect the rights of knowledge creators.
G. Thus, a film director should pay for the right to use a musician’s song in a movie.

It was the longest heat wave anyone could recall, and Sebastian was eager to cool off at the beach with his dad. Before leaving town, they stopped at the local library to return some books.
Outside, a crew was fixing the roof. They’d scraped off (刮) old shingles, laid down tar paper, and were now nailing new shingles. He shook his head as they pulled out of their parking space.“Hot day for that. I worked on a roofing crew for a few years. Hardest job I ever had.”
The waves were perfect for body-boarding, and a sea breeze cooled the air. But all too soon they were headed home, back to the heat. Sebastian was half listening to the radio when the DJ gave the weather report.“The record-breaking heat will continue throughout the afternoon. With the humidity, temperatures will feel like 102,” she said.“If you have to be outside, remember to drink plenty of water, avoid tiring activity, and stay in the shade.” Sebastian was glad they had air conditioners at home, so at least it would be comfortable at night.
As they passed the library again, the roofers were still there, their faces red and sweaty.
“Do you think they have enough water ” Sebastian asked.
“I'm sure they brought plenty on a day like this,” Dad said. But he didn't sound overly confident.
Sebastian had just finished two weeks of soccer camp, and even with frequent water breaks, it had been miserably hot. His sports shirt stuck to his skin so stubbornly at the end of each day that he could barely pull it off. It made him think again about taking some water to the roofers. Sebastian walked to the end of his driveway, where he could get a view of the library. The roofers were still there, and the sun was still blazing.
“I really think they need some water,” he told Dad.
A look of concern came over Dad's face.

Art is an essential part of our life. It enriches our spiritual world, allowing us to perceive beauty in various forms. It serves as a universal language that breaks down barriers and enables people from different cultures to communicate and understand each other.
Art has significantly transformed my life. Once, I was struggling with stress from study. A painting exhibition I visited by chance changed my state. The vivid colors and creative strokes in the paintings soothed my nerves. I learned to slow down, observe details, and find tranquility within. Since then, art has been my haven in times of trouble, teaching me to view life from a more aesthetic perspective.
In a nutshell, art is not just a display but a powerful force that can truly change our lives.
【答案】 A look of concern came over Dad’s face. Dad nodded in agreement immediately. “You’ve got a point there. Let’s go get them some water.” They drove to the nearest supermarket right away, bought a whole case of iced bottled water, and returned to the library quickly. Sebastian carried the heavy box to the workers and offered the cold water to every tired roofer under the burning sun.
“Thank you!” they all said as they passed around the bottles and opened them. The leading worker told Sebastian that they had run out of water an hour earlier, and no one had time to leave the job to buy more. The icy water, which cooled down their hot bodies, brought them great comfort. Looking at the workers’big relaxed smiles, Sebastian felt warm happiness well up in his heart. He realized that even a small kind act could bring huge warmth to people in need, and this hot day became the most memorable day in his life.
