More than two decades ago, I was just in senior high. My teacher gave our class a 1 titled “Advice for the Younger Generation”. It was simple — each student had to 2 someone who was over the age of 25, gather enough 3 to write a biography (传记) of his/her life and find out what his/her best life advice was. I considered my dad the best 4 .
I had completely 5 this until recently when I was visiting my parents’ house. When cleaning out some old boxes, I was surprised to find the 6 “Advice for the Younger Generation” assignment I had done 25 years ago! I read it through and was so 7 — there was lots of great wisdom. I might not have 8 appreciated it when I was in senior high, but at 42, I could see for sure the advice 9 to people of all ages. In fact, the first thought that 10 my mind was, “Wow, my dad was absolutely right!”
Here is the most effective one from my dad’s 11 — Become the best version of yourself. 12 the advice, I left my hometown for further 13 . Later, I graduated from a top university and eventually realized my dream of working in television.
My dad is 65 years old now. Apart from his 14 advice, he is now ready to share with me some new tips he has gained. Looking back on my journey of growth, I am grateful for my father’s advice, which has always 15 me to move forward towards success.

Last summer, my friends and I were super excited for a camping trip in a remote forest. We 91 a weekend full of fun and exploration, imagining ourselves hiking through the 92 , telling stories around the campfire at night. Little did we know, a nightmare was about to 93 .
On the second day, while we were cooking lunch by the campfire, a strange, burning 94 suddenly hit my nose. Looking up, we saw thick black smoke rising in the distance. To our horror, a wildfire was 95 towards us at top speed! 96 set in and we quickly stuffed important things into our backpacks. But when we tried to call for help, our phones were 97 .
Thankfully, we remembered the emergency plan we had learned before, and we 98 towards a small stream nearby. The flowing water provided some protection from the approaching 99 . As the fire got closer, the heat was intense, and the sound of crackling trees was 100 .
Finally, after what felt like forever, the 101 arrived. They worked really hard and managed to 102 the fire, leading us to safety.
Now, each time I 103 for a trip, my hands stop on the first-aid kit placed in the side pocket. Checking supplies isn’t a 104 task — it’s a silent nod to my past self by the stream. Those burnt hiking boots still sit under my bed, a sharp 105 of how fast joy can turn to fear.

I never had any attendance issues during primary and middle school. But at senior high, for no obvious reason, I felt frozen by the 106 of going to school each morning.
My mum tried to 107 me to go to school but I always refused. I understand now 108 she did it, but at that time I was heartbroken. Each morning we would 109 about it, and it caused a lot of tension at home. I felt so 110 as my anxiety kept getting worse. I did try 111 to my friends or teachers, but they didn’t really know how to help beyond 112 that I “push through”. In fact, I wanted so badly to go to school every day with no 113 like others.
But eventually, I started to 114 that staying silent wasn’t protecting me — it was 115 me. So I decided to open up — first to my parents, then slowly to my classmates, and later to the teachers. I was finally ready to be 116 about how lost I felt. Talking didn’t 117 solve everything, but it helped me understand I didn’t have to 118 my pain alone and allowed me to start 119 my connection with others.
I’m so grateful for the 120 of my family and friends during the tough times. What I’m most proud of is that I didn’t give up on myself, even when I thought I had nothing left.

In Richland, Steve Lee, a father 136 about spreading Winter Holiday joy, read an article. It 137 that Monroe Street in Madison, Wisconsin, had more than 12 inflatable Santas — a symbolic 138 often connected to the season. Lee joked the show was “nothing 139 ” and believed his neighborhood could do better. He picked 12-foot-tall, light-up 140 of Bumbles — lovable snow monsters from the 141 cartoons. With help, he secretly placed them on neighbors’ porches (门廊). Soon, many Bumbles 142 , bringing kids outside and spreading joy. Lee even used AI to 143 a story about the Bumbles for his young children.
In Madison, Evan Carter started the inflatable Santa 144 in 2022. Though he thought single inflatable decorations were tasteless, a large number together felt 145 . Last year, he hoped 10 houses would join the Santa display, but 35 ended up 146 ! Every night, he walks around to count the Santas, and people from far away come to see them.
When Carter learned about Richland’s Bumbles, the friendly competition got 147 . He joked his neighborhood was still in the 148 . Both areas agree the competition has helped residents meet new neighbors and 149 community spirit.

It wasn’t just about sharing ideas to win — it was about forming something stronger than any one of us alone.
