Swimming is a great way to stay healthy and have fun! But it can be dangerous if we don’t do it the right way. In China, drowning (溺水) is the main cause of accidental death (意外身亡) among children and teenagers. So, let’s learn some easy tips to swim safely.
◆Warm Up Before You Swim
One of the most important things you can do to stay safe while swimming is to warm up before you get into the water. You can do simple exercises like jumping jacks, arm circles, and leg swings to get your body ready for swimming.
◆Learn to Swim in a Right Way
If you don’t know how to swim, take lessons from a professional coach (专业教练). Even if you can swim a little, learning the right skills can help you stay safe in the water.
◆Build a Strong Body
Strength training is great for swimmers too! Simple exercises at home, like jump rope or sit-ups, can be very beneficial. They can help make your body stronger, and even improve your swimming skills.
◆Know What to Do in an Emergency (紧急情况)
Always swim in safe places like swimming pools or beaches where there are lifeguards (救生员). If someone is drowning, don’t try to save them by yourself. Call for help instead or use a long stick or a rope to pull them to a safe place. If you’re in trouble, stay calm and float (漂浮) on your back until help arrives.

Scientists found plants could “talk”. Lilach Hadany and her team recorded (录音) some plants in different places. Their recordings showed that the plants made some sounds.
After the scientists changed their recordings, people could hear plants clicking (咔嗒) clearly. They also found the plants hardly clicked when they had enough water. As their soil (土壤) got drier, they clicked more and more.
When the scientists cut off a part of the plants, the plants also clicked more. But the clicking wasn’t the same as when the plants needed water. The plants made more sounds when they felt bad. Because of these findings, the scientists thought that they can use a plant’s sounds to find out when it needs help, and what problem it is having.
Some questions come with the study. One important question is: Do plants make sounds to talk with each other Other studies showed that plants seem to talk in some ways. If some animals are eating the plants, the plants will send chemicals into the air. Soon, nearby plants start to make other chemicals that don’t taste good to the animals. Maybe the sounds could work in the same way. Another question is: Is anything listening to the plants Hadany says that she and her team will study if plants or animals will answer the clicking sounds of the plants.
The study changed people’s ideas about plants. Hadany says, “Even in a quiet place, there are sounds that we don’t hear, and those sounds have things to tell.”

Water is very important for all living things on Earth. It takes a cool trip called the water cycle. It starts on the ground, goes up high, and comes back down again. This happens all the time, even when it’s cold and snowy.
Here’s how it works: The sun warms up the water on the ground. The water turns into vapour (蒸汽) and goes up into the sky. When lots of water turns into vapour, it makes clouds we see up high. Clouds are like big, soft blankets full of water. When they get too heavy, they can’t hold all the water. So, the water falls back down as rain. When the air cools very quickly, the rain turns into snow. This is how water goes back to the ground, where it helps plants and animals and fills up rivers and oceans.
The water cycle is great for the Earth. It keeps our weather just right and makes sure every place gets water. Without it, some places would have too much water and flood, and others would be too dry and have droughts. Learning about the water cycle helps us take care of our planet. If we know how the water cycle works, we can find ways to protect the Earth and use water smartly. It’s a big job, but we can do it together!

The Eye of the Sahara is one of Earth’s most amazing natural wonders. It’s a special place in the desert (沙漠) of Mauritania, Africa. Looking from the sky, it looks like a huge, bright eye! It is as long as 500 football fields. The Eye looks like a big round pizza with different colored parts.
How was it made Millions of years ago, the ground under the sand started to rise up. Then, wind and rain slowly wore away the soft rocks (岩石), leaving the hard ones behind. Over time, these hard rocks formed the beautiful circles we see today. From above, you can count about 10 round circles, each one has a different color. The biggest circle is on the outside, with smaller ones inside.
But the Eye of the Sahara is in trouble. The desert is very dry, and sandstorms often blow over it. The sand can make the rocks difficult to see. Also, not many people know about this amazing place because it’s far from big cities.

One rainy afternoon, she found an old house with broken windows. Though nervous, she tiptoed (蹑手蹑脚) and took a short breath—the dusty room was full of books! She jumped up and down with joy.
Hannah’s friends laughed when she shared her find. “Books How boring!” they said. Hurt but determined, Hannah read and was so inspired by the books every night. The stories taught her about the power of love, courage and kindness. She returned to the house daily, cleaning the house secretly. When villagers asked about her cuts and dust-covered clothes, she simply smiled.
Although she knew it would be a difficult journey to share stories with the people in the village, she started telling stories in the fixed house. Her best friend Sanuki came first.
