We can’t see the wind, but we can hear it. Listen! The leaves are singing in the autumn wind. When the wind blows strongly, it sounds like a train.
We can’t see the wind, but we can see what it is doing. Look! The flags are dancing in the spring wind. The wind can make things easy. The word “zhiyin” in Chinese, meaning the best friend who truly understands you, comes from a famous story during the Spring and Autumn Period. One night, while traveling to Chu, Boya had to stop his boat at the Hanyang River because of strong wind. After the wind passed, a full moon rose slowly. Touched by the beautiful night, Boya began playing his guqin. A woodcutter named Zhong Ziqi, who was passing by, stopped to listen. Boya played a piece about high mountains, and Ziqi said, “How great! It sounds like Mount Tai reaching the sky!” Then Boya played another piece about flowing water, and Ziqi exclaimed, “How nice! Before leaving, they promised to meet again the next year.
Unluckily, when Boya returned, he heard that Ziqi had died from an illness. Heartbroken, Boya went to Ziqi’s tomb (坟墓), played one last song full of sadness, and then broke his guqin into pieces. We usually send and receive information through the movement of our bodies. Body language can express different feelings. We often use gestures or body movements to express our thoughts. For example, when someone is giving a talk, he or she may often use his or her hands to emphasize points.
The victory sign, the OK sign, the goodbye wave and the blowing of a kiss are all popular gestures in America. However, most of these gestures are not accepted by people in other countries. For example, the OK gesture means acceptance in America, but it has other meanings in other countries. In France, it means worthlessness, while in Greece, it is considered an insulting gesture.
There are some other differences in the non-verbal messages of people of different sexes. In American culture, men usually sit or stand with their legs apart and their hands outwards, while women usually keep their legs together and their hands at their sides. 16.结合全文梳理事件顺序:首先,“Though many people liked his skills, Boya felt lonely because he believed no one could really understand the feelings in his music.”(b. 伯牙因无人懂他的音乐而孤独);接着,“One night, while traveling to Chu, Boya had to stop his boat at the Hanyang River because of strong wind.”(d. 伯牙去楚国途中因大风停船);然后,“Boya was deeply moved because Ziqi understood his music so well.”(e. 伯牙因子期懂自己的音乐而深受触动);之后,“Unluckily, when Boya returned, he heard that Ziqi had died from an illness.”(a. 子期因病去世);最后,“Heartbroken, Boya went to Ziqi’s tomb, played one last song full of sadness, and then broke his guqin into pieces. He decided never to play again”(c. 伯牙断琴,决定不再弹琴),故正确顺序是b-d-e-a-c。
