Stan Lee was born in 1922. When he was just 17, he got a job at a company that made
comic books (漫画书). Although the salary was beyond his imagination, Mr Lee got tired ofit.
Most superheroes were strong and smart and always knew the right thing to do. Mr Lee wanted to have a chance to create new superheroes that had weaknesses. Mr Lee didn’t create the heroes by himself. He worked with artists to come up with the ideas. Some people thought the comic books
would not sell well and that the readers would be unhappy to see superheroes lead a normal life.
Mr Lee was able to create characters that were different from anything that had been seen in comic books before. Hulk was a really nice guy until he got angry. Spider-Man was never sure he was doing the right thing, but he always seemed to have something funny to say to the bad guys.
Mr Lee made it okay for comic book heroes to be like common people. He also had the clever idea of having his comic book heroes appear in each other’s stories. For example, Spider-Man might
show up in Fantastic Four. This made readers feel shocked. He also brought them into the real
world. Batman and Superman lived in made-up cities. But Mr Lee decided that Peter Parker (who turns into Spider-Man) should live in New York City.
In 1980, Mr Lee moved to California. He wanted to try and get his superheroes onto TV
and into the movies. He played a small part in most of these movies, usually showing up on screen for just a few seconds to make his audience feel the superheroes really exist in their lives. He
didn’t have too much luck at first, although The Incredible Hulk became popular TV shows. But after the success ofthe X-Men and Spider-Man movies in the early 2000s, movies with Marvel(漫威) heroes began to come out often. Marvel movies have now earned over $24 billion. Mr Lee is no longer with us, but the heroes he created live on.
4 .Why did Stan Lee get tired of his first job
A .The characters in their comics were too perfect. B .The artists didn’t cooperate with him.
C .The readers didn’t support his books. D .The pay he got was low.
5 .What shocked Stan Lee’s readers
A .The perfect life the superheroes lead.
B .The environment the superheroes live in.
C .The connection between different superheroes.
D .The different kinds of super powers of superheroes.
6 .What can we learn from the last paragraph
A .The Incredible Hulk was not popular at first.
B .Stan Lee played the leading role in his movies.
C .Stan Lee moved to California to direct the films.
D .The Marvel movies have got huge profits.
7 .Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A .Stan Lee: the best-selling author B .Stan Lee: the Marvel superhero creator
C .Why do people love the superheroes D .Why are Marvel movies popular

By now we all know the importance of drinking enough water throughout the day, but there is such a thing as too much. Earlier this summer, a 35-year-old Indiana woman, died from water
toxicity (毒性作用) after drinking too much water in a short period of time, according to a local news report.
While drinking enough water is important, overdoing it can lead to low levels of sodium (钠) in the blood, which can be life-threatening, according to Julia Zumpano, an expert at
Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Human Nutrition.
Exactly how much is enough for our body depends on a variety offactors, including our
weight, age, location and overall health. People in poor health, or active people such as athletes, are at risk of water toxicity, as they tend to drink large amounts of water and lose sodium through their sweat. So are women and children because of their smaller body size.
While the gold standard for many years has been eight glasses of 8 ounces (盎司) of water per day, the National Academy of Medicine suggests enough water intake is about 125 ounces for men and about 91 ounces for women. And it recommends not drinking more than 48 ounces of
water per hour. This includes total water from fruits, vegetables and other drinks besides water.
If you struggle with getting enough water per day, you can try water bottles to help track your water intake. Eating fruits and vegetables can also increase our water intake. You could
experiment with adding flavor to improve the taste of your water.
“Most people had better keep drinking water throughout the day, but larger amounts may be needed in the heat for an extended period of time or during exercise. If you are thirsty water —
listen to your body. But don’t overdo it,” says Zumpano.
8 .How does the author introduce the topic of the text
A .By putting up a question. B .By showing the findings.
C .By making a comparison. D .By giving an example.
9 .What may be the result of drinking too much water
A .Putting on weight. B .Speeding up aging.
C .Reducing sodium in blood. D .Making us more active.
10 .What do we know from paragraph 4
A .We’d better drink about 64 ounces of water every day.
B .Women can take in more water than men an hour.
C .We can take in little water from fruits and vegetables.
D .We must drink less than 48 ounces of water a day.
11 .What is the text mainly about
A .What is the result of water toxicity
B .Why do you find it difficult to drink enough water
C .How much water is too much water
D .How often do we need to remind ourselves to drink water

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence(AI), DeepSeek, a Chinese AI
company, has appeared as a pioneer in educational technology. Its latest model, DeepSeek-R1, combines advanced machine learning methods to provide personalized learning solutions for students worldwide.
Unlike traditional AI models that rely on pre-programmed answers, DeepSeek-R1 uses reinforcement (强化) learning to drive human logical thinking. This allows it to guide students through problem-solving step by step, much like a patient teacher. For example, when a student struggles with a math equation, DeepSeek-R1 doesn’t just give the answer, it breaks down the logic, identifies errors, and encourages critical thinking.
The model’s applications reach beyond academic areas. In language learning, it analyzes
students’ pronunciation through AI speech recognition and offers real-time response. For teachers, DeepSeek-R1 can make lesson plans according to subject standards and even predict students’
learning difficulties based on historical data. Its “adaptive testing” feature creates personalized tests that adjust difficulty according to individual progress.
However, challenges remain. Critics argue that over-dependence on AI might reduce
human interaction in education. DeepSeek’s developers address this by stressing its role as an “addition, not a replacement.” As Dr. Li, a DeepSeek researcher, stated, “Our goal is to free
teachers from repetitive tasks so they can focus on inspiring creativity.”
Looking ahead, DeepSeek aims to add virtual reality (VR) into its platform, allowing
students to explore historical events or scientific ideas in engaging 3D environments. While
ethical (伦理的)debates about AI in education continue to exist, one thing is clear: tools like DeepSeek are reshaping how we learn, mixing technology with human wisdom.
12 .What makes DeepSeek-R1 different from traditional AI models
A .It uses pre-programmed answers.
B .It focuses on memory techniques.
C .It replaces teachers in classrooms.
D .It employs reinforcement learning for thinking logically.
13 .The underlined word “adaptive” in Paragraph 3 most likely means .
A .fixed B .adjustable C .limitless D .appealing
14 .What can be inferred about DeepSeek’s future plans
A .VR technology will improve interactive learning. B .It will stop all classroom activities.
C .It gives priority to profit rather than educational values. D .Teachers will lose their jobs to AI.
15 .What is the main purpose of the passage
A .To advertise DeepSeek products. B .To criticize the risks of AI in schools.
C .To discuss AI’s role in transforming education. D .To compare different AI models.

Going green while travelling is an effective way to protect the Earth’s natural and cultural resources. It is also a great way to build deeper connections with local communities and the
environment. 16
Travel locally. If a vacation is what you need, try choosing nearby destinations and staying local. Surprise yourself by discovering the nearby attractions. This way, you get to save time and money and avoid air travel, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
17 Avoid eating at multinational chain restaurants or shopping in large
supermarkets and brand stores. Instead, choose small businesses to help improve the local
economy. This way, you’re helping keep people employed and preventing transportation across far distances.
Choose green accommodation. 18 To ensure this, you may need to find answers to questions like if the hotel is certified, or if it has a sustainability report, or what their waste
management protocol (方案) and plastic policy, look like, or if their products and menus are locally sourced, and so on.
Use green transport. Flying can seem easy and attractive, but it’s especially harmful to the environment. If your destination can be reached by train, consider opting for it. While exploring
cities, cycling and walking are recommended.____19____If you have no option but to fly, consider booking non-stop flights instead of having layovers (中途停留).
Go paperless. A lot of attractions accept online tickets. 20 By going paperless, you not only help the environment but also avoid losing tickets and enjoy easy access to them at the same time.
A .This prevents travelers from printing boarding passes, hotel reservations, and entry tickets.
B .Always switch off lights before leaving your room.

One day when I was sitting on the porch, he came walking by. I was about 12 years old and thought it would make me feel grown up to tease him like some adults did in the town.
He asked how I was doing. I told him that my father had lost his job, and that we were short of money. I could see my friends laughing in the background so 1 went on with the lie. I had him fooled so completely that every time he asked me a question, I would make the situation seem
worse and worse.I knew he made a meager (贫困的) living doing odd jobs, so it seemed funny
when he asked me if we needed anything. I told him that we didn’t know if we would have enough to eat. He replied, “You poor thing. I will pray for you.”

46 .Dear Manager,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the English-Chinese dictionary I bought at your bookstore last Saturday.
The dictionary has several problems. Firstly, some pages are missing, making it impossible to look up many words. Secondly, the cover is stained and looks used rather than new. As a senior high school student, a reliable dictionary is of great importance for me. I was therefore extremely disappointed with the quality of this product.
I would appreciate it if you could either replace it with a new one or give me a full refund. Thank you for your time and consideration. I’m looking forward to your early reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
47 . On the doorstep, l found a box of food with a note beside it. Upon seeing the food, I knew
who had sent it. My facing burning with shame, I took the box inside with care. Packed in the box were some sandwiches, a bottle of milk and some fruit. I picked up the note, on which some words were carefully written, “Sorry, I can only get you these. Hope you like them. I will always pray for you.” The moment I finished reading the note, tears rolled down my face. How could I lie to a
person with such a gentle heart I knew it was time to make up for my mistake.
The next evening, with a big apple pie made by myself, I stood at the doorstep of Bob’s
house. Having gathered up my courage, I knocked on the door. Bob seemed to be a little surprised when he saw me outside. He explained that it was no big deal and that I needn’t have come to
thank him. I lowered my head, apologizing to him for my silly behavior. To my surprise, he just smiled and patted me on the shoulder, saying, “It’s OK. Now shall we take a bite of this yummy apple pie ” I raised my head and nodded with tears of joy. Thanks to Bob, I have learned the
magic power of kindness.
