My dad has watermelon-size muscles and enormous hands as if he’s always wearing
baseball gloves. He doesn’t seem like the kind of person who bakes great bread, but he does.
Every Saturday he bakes silently by himself. When he’s done, the whole house smells delicious. The rest ofthe week, he’s a car mechanic whose job involves complex lifting, tightening, shaking and hitting. People tend to think of cars as metallic members of the family, and Dad seldom lets them down.
I kind of understand Dad’s baking routine. Though he’s into the work, customers’
expectation and understaffing weigh him down. When working on the dough (生面团) he returns to a life of ease.
I had been feeling stressed out myself since I didn’t qualify for the swim team. I would
have to wait a whole year, which was like a million years. I thought Dad had found that. He asked me how things were going last Saturday. I said OK. He looked at me for a moment, said it was
time for me to help and headed to the kitchen.
Surprised though, I followed him. Dad took out his mixing bowl, telling me to mix
materials while he added them. He isn’t big on measuring, knowing instinctively (凭直觉) how much to use. The bread is always great. Then he showed me how to process the dough —
repeatedly stretching, pounding and folding it. It took ten minutes and a surprising amount of
energy to finish. But what came next was harder and more surprising — doing nothing. We put the dough back into the bowl. It took an hour to rise. Then we pressed and stretched it, put it into
pans and waited another hour for it to double. “It’s hard to resist putting the dough directly into the oven, but if you do, the bread will be tough,” Dad explained.
When the dough rose at its own pace, time seemed to slow down. We could do nothing to speed that. As I accepted that, I stopped watching the clock and started enjoying the time. My
father taught me how to bake, but I learned something more — appreciate the slow pace of time and let the bread rise.

A .To get relaxed. B .To kill the time.
C .To pursue his hobby. D .To learn a new skill.
26 .What is the most difficult part during baking bread according to the author
A .Measuring materials. B .Waiting for the dough to rise.
C .Processing the dough. D .Controlling the temperature of the oven.
27 .What is a suitable title for the text
A .Secrets of Baking B .Influence of My Father
C .A Bread Lesson D .A Surprising Leisure Time

One of our biggest fears nowadays is that our kids might some day get lost in a “sea of
technology” rather than experiencing the natural world. Fear-producing TV and computer games are leading to a serious disconnect between kids and the great outdoors, which will change the
wild places of the world, its creatures and human health for the worse, unless adults get working on child’s play.
Each of us has a place in nature we go sometimes, even if it was torn down. We cannot be the
last generation to have that place. At this rate, kids who miss the sense of wonder outdoors will
not grow up to be protectors of natural landscapes. “If the decline in parks use continues across
North America, who will defend parks against encroachment (蚕食) ” asks Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods.
Without having a nature experience, kids can turn out just fine, but they are missing out a huge enrichment of their lives. That applies to everything from their physical health and mental health, to stress levels, creativity and cognitive (认知的) skills. Experts predict modern kids will have
poorer health than their parents—and they say a lack of outside play is surely part ofit; research suggests that kids do better academically in schools with a nature component and that play in
nature fosters (培养) leadership by the smartest, not by the toughest. Even a tiny outdoor
experience can create wonder in a child. The three-year-old turning over his first rock realizes he is not alone in the world. A clump of trees on the roadside can be the whole universe in his eyes. We really need to value that more.
Kids are not to blame. They are over-protected and frightened. It is dangerous out there from time to time, but repetitive stress from computers is replacing breaking an arm as a childhood rite (仪式) of passage.
Everyone from developers, to schools and outdoorsy citizens, should help regain for our kids some of the freedom and joy of exploring, taking friendship in fields and woods that cement (增强) love, respect and need for landscape. As parents, we should devote some of our energies to taking our kids into nature. This could yet be our greatest cause.
28 .The main idea of Paragraph 2 is that .
A .kids are missing the sense of wonder outdoors
B .parks are in danger of being gradually encroached
C .Richard Louv is the author of Last Child in the Woods
D .children are expected to develop into protectors of nature
29 .According to the passage, children without experiencing nature will .
A .keep a high sense of wonder
B .be over-protected by their parents
C .be less healthy both physically and mentally
D .change wild places and creatures for the better
30 .According to the author, children’s breaking an arm is .
A .the fault on the part of their parents
B .the natural experience in their growing up
C .the result of their own carelessness in play
D .the effect of their repetitive stress from computers
31 .In writing this passage, the author mainly intends to .
A .blame children for getting lost in computer games
B .encourage children to protect parks from encroachment
C .show his concern about children’s lack of experience in nature
D .inspire children to keep the sense of wonder about things around

Runners completing a half marathon in Beijing later this year will do so with something
unusual. More than 12,000 human runners will compete against dozens of bipedal (双足行走的) humanoids from more than 20 companies in a 13-mile course. The top three finishers, whether a
human or a humanoid, will receive prizes. But the robots will have their work cut out for them. As of now, no bipedal robot has successfully completed that long a race, let alone competing against a human runner.
There are some requirements the robot runners will have to meet. For starters, they will
need to look somewhat like a human, which means two legs and a mechanical structure capable of carrying out bipedal functions like upright walking and running. These guidelines rule out
high-functioning quadruped (四足的) robots like Boston Dynamics’ Spot or KAIST’s RAIBO2. The latter completed a full marathon last year in just over four hours. Wheels aren’t allowed. In
terms of size, the humanoid should measure between 1.6-6.5 feet tall with a maximum extension from their hip joint (髋关节) to the foot sole ofat least 0.45 meters. Importantly, the robots won’t need to be fully autonomous (自动的) to compete. Teams are allowed to remotely operate their
machines, which could come as welcome news if Tesla decides to send its Optimus bot to the
race.
Humanoids have already proven capable of running, sometimes quite quickly. In China, humanoids from the companies ROBOTERA and Unitree Robotics can reportedly reach top
running speeds of eight miles per hour and 7.38 miles per hour respectively. Tiangong, a
humanoid created by Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation (BHRI) Center actually made an
appearance at the finish line of a half marathon last year, but it didn’t complete the entire course. Still, none of these robots come close to matching human athlete Usain Bolt’s record top speed.
But the April race might not be all for show either. Government-backed challenges and
competitions have a history of fostering research innovations in the future. It’s possible one of the running robots in Beijing could follow a similar track. Or, they could also fall flat on their faces. Either way, we’ll be watching with interest.
32 .What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 1 mean
A .The robots will face difficult tasks. B .The robots will complete the race.
C .The robots will win the award. D .The robots will have different goals.
33 .What robots meet the requirements of the competition
A .Quadruped robots. B .Robots over 6.5 feet high.
C .Distantly controlled robots. D .Bipedal robots with wheel feet.
34 .Which of the following robots completed a full marathon
A .KAIST’s RAIBO2. B .BHRI’s Tiangong.
C .Tesla’s Optimus bot. D .Boston Dynamics’ Spot.
35 .What is the author’s attitude towards the April marathon
A .Wholly indifferent. B .Highly skeptical.
C .Cautiously optimistic. D .Extremely enthusiastic.

What is a Mobile Blog
A mobile blog is a type of blog that is written and submitted via a cellular telephone,
internet- connected personal digital assistants or other connected portable device in most cases. The advantage of a mobile blog is that it gives the writer a chance to record his or her thoughts immediately. 36
What makes a mobile blog popular is the fact that many phones now come equipped with digital cameras. 37 They can be selected to be displayed on a computer monitor. Thus, a
mobile blog can not only include text, but a picture as well, adding to the overall interest of the piece. Anything that sets a blog apart, such as a photo, can be a very useful tool.
38 These phones often have full keyboards laid cut in a fashion similar to a
computer keyboard. Actually, judging from the real experience of operating, writing on them can be inconvenient. 39 These smartphones also have the ability of connecting to the internet, as
most people using them will choose internet service, which can make filing a mobile blog even easier.
The mobile blog is based on the same principle as the short message service, only expanded a little bit to include longer pieces, and additional media, such as photos. The blogs may be
readable on other phones or may be available, in some cases, for review on computers. It should
be noted that many mobile phones may not support traditional online blogging software programs.
40
A .Therefore, a specialized program may be necessary.
B .Most of these cameras can take fairly decent pictures.
C .Thus, more tools available to connect people are needed.
D .There is no need to wait until there is access to a computer.
E .The writer are expected to set down the thought as quickly as possible.
F .The popularity of smartphones has made the writing of a mobile blog easier.
G .However, it is much easier than typing out words on a traditional phone keypad.

Back in , the noise of the city outside made me realize I’m living in the present,

On a hot September afternoon, Peter and his friend Isabel were on their way to the library. When they passed by Tubman park, Isabel suggested cutting through it to get to the library. As
they entered the park, the sight of the swings (秋千) and the merry-go-round brought back a flood of memories of their childhood spent there. But now everything looked so old, sad, and dirty.
Litter lay on the ground next to an overflowing trash bin (垃圾箱). There were still young
schoolchildren playing there but they had to avoid the trash that littered the playground. A little boy told them that the city had taken the other trash cans away and the last one wasn’t emptied very often.
As they headed toward the library, the two high school students wrinkled their forehead. In the library, they encountered Mrs. Evans, their kind-hearted fifth-grade teacher, retired yet still
passionate. Mrs. Evans listened as Isabel and Peter eagerly explained what they’d seen. Finally, she recommended them to go to the City Hall to voice their concerns.
The next day, Isabel and Peter went into the building of the City Hall but were met with an impatient officer. They were informed that the city couldn’t help with their problem due to a tight budget. Discouraged, they left and turned to Mrs. Evans for help.
Under her guidance, they decided to ask Go Green, a non-profit organization whose goal is to protect the environment, for help. “This group is good at raising money for projects just like
yours,” said Mrs. Evans. She promised to arrange them to present their ideas to Go Green. Hearing this, their face lit up.
Two main tasks remained ahead: researching ways to clean up the park and preparing a
convincing presentation (陈述). As Isabel was good at researching while Peter always had a talent for speaking, they cooperated quite well. Isabel learned from a science magazine that a new type of trash bin can squeeze the trash down without being emptied often, which saves time, money,
and energy. Based on this, Peter practiced his presentation over and over again.
Paragraph 1: A week later, Peter stood nervously at the back of the hall where Go Green was meeting.

summer house for royal families because as you can see, it’s surrounded by beautiful nature and
ancient forests. Later, however, it was used as a prison where many war prisoners were held
during the 17th century regional conflicts. Owing to the castle’s history and natural beauty, a lot of movies about the Middle Ages have been filmed here. You’ve probably seen some of them.
Despite its ancient origins, modern facilities have been added to improve tourists’ experience.
Please understand that some parts of the castle are inaccessible due to ongoing repair work. Now, let’s start walking around the castle. Please stay together for safety on the uneven stones. If you have any questions during the tour, just ask me. I will be happy to answer them.

People tend to think of cars as metallic members of the family, and Dad seldom lets them down.(这周剩下的时间,他是一名汽车修理工,他的工作涉及复杂的起重、收紧、摇晃和撞击。
根据第二段中“When working on the dough (生面团) he returns to a life of
故选 A。
But what came next was harder and more surprising — doing nothing. We put the dough back into the bowl. It took an hour to rise. Then we pressed and
stretched it, put it into pans and waited another hour for it to double.(但接下来发生的事情更困难,也更令人惊讶——什么都不做。
My father taught me how to bake, but I learned something more — appreciate the
slow pace of time and let the bread rise.(父亲教会了我烘焙,但我学会了更多——珍惜时间的慢节奏,让面包发酵)”点明文章主旨。

根据文章第二段“At this rate, kids who miss the sense of wonder outdoors will not grow up to be protectors of natural landscapes(这样下去,那些失去了户外奇妙感觉的孩子长大后就不会成为自然景观的保护者。)”
Without having a nature experience, kids can turn out just
fine, but they are missing out a huge enrichment of their lives. That applies to everything from their physical health and mental health(没有大自然的经历,孩子们可能会很好,但他们错过了丰富他们生活的巨大机会。
根据倒数第二段末“as a childhood rite of passage.”
根据文章第一段“One of our biggest fears nowadays is that our kids might some day get lost in a “sea of technology” rather than experiencing the natural world.( 如今我们最大的恐惧之一是,我们的孩子有一天可能会迷失在“科技的海洋” 中,而不是去体验自然世

As of now, no bipedal robot has successfully
completed that long a race, let alone competing against a human runner.(截至目前,还没有任何双足机器人成功完成过这么长的比赛,更不用说与人类跑者同场竞技了。)”
根据文章第二段“Importantly, the robots won’t need to be fully autonomous(自动的) to compete. Teams are allowed to remotely operate their machines, which could come as
welcome news if Tesla decides to send its Optimus bot to the race.(重要的是,机器人并不需要完全自主地完成比赛。
根据文章第二段“These guidelines rule out high-functioning quadruped (四足的) robots like Boston Dynamics ’ Spot or KAIST’s RAIBO2. The latter completed a full
marathon last year in just over four hours.(这些规定排除了像波士顿动力公司的 Spot 或韩国科学技术院的 RAIBO2 这样的高性能四足机器人——后者去年刚刚以四个多小时的成绩完成了一场全程马拉松。)”
But the April race might not be all for show either.
Government-backed challenges and competitions have a history of fostering research innovations in the future. It’s possible one of the running robots in Beijing could follow a similar track. Or,
they could also fall flat on their faces. Either way, we’ll be watching with interest.(但四月的这场比赛也许不仅仅是一场表演。

The mobile blog is based on the same principle as the short message service, only expanded a little bit to include longer pieces, and additional media, such as photos. The blogs may
be readable on other phones or may be available, in some cases, for review on computers. It
should be noted that many mobile phones may not support traditional online blogging software
故选 A 项。

67 .One possible version:
A week later, Peter stood nervously at the back of the hall where Go Green was meeting. His palms were sweaty as he clutched his notecards, nervously reviewing the key points one last time. When called upon, he stepped forward and began speaking with growing confidence. Using
vivid photos of Tubman Park’s current state and diagrams ofthe innovative trash bins, he
explained how this solution could transform their childhood playground. He emphasized the
community impact — how clean parks foster healthier children and stronger neighborhoods. The board members listened intently, nodding as he presented cost estimates and maintenance plans. By the end, even the sternest faces had softened into smiles.
After the meeting, Isabel excitedly told Peter the good news. Go Green had not only
approved their proposal but also pledged to fund the installation of five self-compacting trash bins and organize monthly volunteer clean-ups. Better yet, they’d connected the teens with a city
council member who promised to advocate for restored park funding. Overwhelmed with joy, the two immediately texted Mrs. Evans, who replied, “Proud of you both! This is just the beginning.” The following weekend, they gathered classmates to remove litter from Tubman Park, their laughter mixing with the rustle of trash bags — a sound of change in motion.
