her from talking about the gold.
He thought about this for a long time and then had an idea. “I found something in the forest,” he told his wife.
“Come with me and I’ll show you.” His wife followed him into the forest and soon they came to a tree. “Look at
that!” the woodcutter said to his wife, and pointed to the tree. “There’s a fish growing on that branch!” His wife
was surprised, especially when he climbed up the tree and brought down the fish for her to see. They walked on and
soon came to the river. “I’ll just pull in my net and see what I’ve caught,” the woodcutter said.
He pulled in his net and inside there were several hares (野兔). “How interesting!” he said. “There are now
hares in the river.” After that, they came to where the woodcutter had found the box of gold. “Look, dear!” he said.
“This is what I have found. A box of gold coins.”

Spider monkeys are New World primates (灵长类). They get their names because they have very long limbs
(四肢) and tails, which make them look like spiders.
Spider monkeys can be found in the tropical (热带的) rainforests of Central and South America, from Mexico
to Bolivia. Their bodies are about 35 to 66 centimeters long and they weigh about 6 kilograms, and their tails can
be up to 88 centimeters long. The long tails help them to catch tree branches like a fifth hand.
Spider monkeys live in groups. One group usually has dozens of spider monkeys. In many primates, males (雄
性) stay in the same group throughout their lives with the females. However, spider monkeys are different. They
leave their first groups to find another group.
When they go out to look for food, spider monkey groups take separate actions in order to avoid competition
for it. They mainly eat fruits and nuts. They also eat other things like insects, honey, leaves, seeds and bird eggs.
Spider monkeys actually play an important part in the spreading of seeds throughout the South American
rainforests.
Spider monkeys are endangered. Deforestation (森林砍伐), which destroys their natural habitats, is playing a
key role in their decline. These monkeys are also hunted for food or sold as pets. They are commonly sought after
for the illegal pet trade. We must do something to protect them.
31. How do spider monkeys get their names
A. Because of their living habits. B. Because of the food they eat.C. Because of the sounds
they make. D. Because of their appearance.
32. What do we know about the spider monkey
A. It can use its tail as a hand. B. It can only live in Mexico.
C. It stays in one group throughout its life. D. It usually weighs 35 kilograms.

A. The action. B. The food. C. The group. D. The spider monkey.
34. How do spider monkeys help the rainforests
A. By cleaning the water. B. By looking for food. C. By spreading seeds. D. By singing songs.

A. Why spider monkeys are in danger. B. When spider monkeys are hunted.
C. How people protect spider monkeys. D. Why people love spider monkeys.

▲Students: We don’t like to all look the same. We like our own styles!
▲Parents: ____45____ That’s too expensive.

and phones. Uniforms won’t stop bad behaviors.
