Animals are our friends. We know that dogs can help blind people go to some places. Now, horses can also do it. Digby is a small American horse. Now, it is the first guide (引导) horse in England. And its owner (主人) is a blind man named Mohammed Patel. Patel is afraid of dogs, so he chooses Digby as his guide.
Digby gets a lot of training (训练) with Patel. It learns to walk slowly and lead (带领) Patel to walk on the street and get books and magazines for him. It also helps Patel choose clothes when he goes shopping.
Now, it is not a small horse. It is very big, about 0.8 metres tall, so Patel can’t take it to his office. . When Patel takes it to the office, it knocks (碰) things off the desks. So Patel has to say goodbye to Digby. Luckily, Digby has a new job. It helps blind people travel around some places in London.
As we know, a guide dog has only eight years of working life, but a guide horse can live for about 50 years. It can be with you for the whole (整个的) life. So a guide horse can be a “life long friend” for people.

Ants are tiny but wise. Scientists have discovered that ants work together like a super-organism (超个体) to solve difficult problems.
Communicating with Chemicals. Ants can’t talk, but they use special smells to “speak”. When an ant finds food, it leaves a smell path. Other ants follow this path to find the food. Scientists call these smells pheromones (信息素) .
Jobs in the Colony (群体) . In an ant family, every ant has work. Young ants clean the nest and feed babies. Older ants go out to find food. If too many ants get hurt, the healthy ones quickly take over their jobs.
Saving the Group. Fire ants show incredible courage during floods. They link their legs and heads to form a floating boat, keeping the queen and babies safe in the centre. Some ants at the bottom of the boat are washed away, but their death saves the group. This behaviour inspires engineers to build robots that work together during disasters like earthquakes.
Learning from Ants. Scientists now copy ants’ ways to improve human life. For example, computer programs based on ant behaviour help trucks find the fastest delivery routes. In farms, people study how ants protect crops from pests naturally.

①Talking to yourself might seem strange if someone notices. But don’t feel bad about it. It’s actually very helpful to you.
②Talking out loud helps your brain work better. It can improve your performance in studying, doing sports, and solving problems. Researchers (研究者) studied 72 tennis players. They divided them into two groups. One group stayed silent (沉默) while playing, and the other talked to themselves. The group who talked to themselves felt more confident and performed better.
③If you’re feeling sad or angry, talking to yourself can help. Using your name, like saying, “Tom, you can deal with this,” allows you to think calmly (冷静地) and see things in a different way. For example, before an exam, you can say, “I’m ready for this!” This kind of self-talk makes you feel stronger. It’s like giving yourself a pep talk (鼓舞人心的演讲) to face challenges.
④Self-talk also helps improve memory. Researchers tested four different ways to memorize things: reading silently, reading aloud, listening to someone else reading, and listening to a recording of oneself reading. They found that reading out loud helps you remember things best. Speaking the words makes the information (信息) stay in your brain longer.
⑤So, don’t feel shy. Talking to yourself is a great way to improve your mood, memory, and confidence. It’s like having a conversation with your best friend—yourself! Next time you need to study, play a sport, or solve a problem, try talking to yourself. You might be surprised by how much it helps. It’s not strange— it’s a smart way to make your brain more active!

Do you know a special kind of forest in China We call it “the mangrove (红树林) ” or “the red forest”. Are the mangroves red No, mangroves don’t have red leaves. They are green.
Mangroves grow in the water on the coast. The place of mangrove planting in China is between 20°-30° N and 105°-120°E. Some parts of the trees are out of the water. They are home to reptiles like snakes. The other parts in the water make great homes for baby sea animals, like baby fish. Mangroves can grow as high as 10 meters. They keep the land away from strong winds and waves (海浪) . Like other trees, mangroves take in CO2 to make O2. They are helping to make air clean on earth.
Have you ever wondered how these trees survive in salty seawater It is truly amazing! Mangroves have special roots that act like filters to keep most of the salt out. Some even have “breathing roots” that stick out of the mud to get fresh air. Also, mangroves have a unique way of having babies. Their seeds start growing into small trees while they are still on the mother tree! When they are big and heavy enough, they fall down and stick into the mud to start a new life. This clever way of living helps them grow strong even in hard places.
Even though mangroves are strong, they are also very fragile. Pollution and cutting down trees are hurting them. Now many mangroves are in danger. We must act now to save this “Green Great Wall.” We should not throw rubbish into the sea or on the beach. We can also tell our friends and family how important mangroves are. If we work together, we can keep the water clean and the forests green. Let’s be friends with nature and make sure these special forests will be here for many years to come.

2.原文第二段明确提到“One good thing about bananas is that they give you energy.”,说明香蕉的主要作用是提供能量,与B选项“让你充满能量”对应。
4.后文解释“your body can turn them into energy quickly”,说明身体能快速将其转化为能量,这是消化食物的过程,因此“digest”意为“消化、吸收”,对应A选项。

6.第一段提到“Leo meets a girl named Amy for the first time at a science fair (展览会). 14-year-old Leo stands beside his work—a robotic arm. He builds it out of plastic blocks (塑料块) and fishing line. Amy is a girl born without an arm. She wears a metal artificial (人工的) arm every day.”以及第二段“‘Hello,’ says Amy, as she shakes hands (握手) with Leo’s work.”,这些内容描述了Leo和Amy在科学展览会上初次见面,Leo展示他的机械手臂,Amy与他作品握手的场景。
7.第三段提到“Leo is surprised when Amy tells him that her arm costs $80,000. What’s worse, children like her grow quickly and need new arms all the time. “I build this robotic arm for only $300,” he thinks. ‘I must help people like her.’”,这表明Leo想帮助像Amy这样的人是因为他认为Amy的手臂很昂贵。
8.第二段提到“Leo meets a girl named Amy for the first time at a science fair (展览会).”,即②;第四段提到“After the fair, Leo stays in his room all day and tries to make his work better.”,即①;第五段提到“And finally he succeeds at age 22. His new arm is only 0.6 kilograms and costs around $400!”,结合前文可知是用3D打印机制作成功的手臂,即④;第六段提到“He decides to share his plan online for free! People can get the plan and make an artificial arm with their own 3D printers!”,即③。所以正确顺序是②①④③。
9.从Leo看到Amy的情况后决心帮助她,并且不断努力改进自己的作品,经过多年努力最终成功,还决定免费分享计划帮助更多人,这些行为可以看出Leo善良且勤奋。
