You can get some interesting things and useful information from a television show or an Internet site. Some computer games also help you learn. You might use a computer and the Internet to help you with homework.
Some kids spend almost all their free time watching television or using a computer. Here are two reasons why this is not good:
Not Getting Enough Exercise
When you sit in front of a television or computer, you do not move very much. This means your body is not getting exercise. People need exercise every day to stay healthy. Exercise helps the blood flow (流动) around inside the body. This is very important. Getting exercise can help you sleep well at night. It is easy for you to learn well at school if you have a good sleep.
Not Spending Enough Time with Friends
Spending time with friends is an important part of growing up. It helps you learn how to get along with other people. If you are sad or worried about something, talking with a friend can help you feel better. Playing and laughing with friends are fun ways to spend time.
It is fine to watch television and play computer games just for fun. Make sure you do not spend too much time on the computer or watching television. Go outside, enjoy the fresh air, and do something active with friends. Then you will have a healthy and happy life!

Hi, I’m Dr Know. Here, I help solve Teens readers’ problems. I hope I can help with yours.
Dear Dr Know, Most of my classmates have mobile phones, but I don’t. They often talk about things in group chats (群聊), but I have no idea about them. I feel not part of the group because I have no phones and can’t join their chats. What should I do Yours, Stacy
Hi Stacy, It must be hard to feel “out of the loop (在局外)” when everyone is chatting in a phone group. This is one of the difficulties of today’s digital age (数字时代)—sometimes, it seems like we talk online instead of in real life. But here’s the truth: being different is cool. I have two pieces of advice for you. First, don’t worry about losing unimportant group chats. You don’t need to know every little thing your friends are talking. If something matters, you can always ask about it later—for example, if they’re planning a trip or sharing big news. Second, enjoy the real world. These days, people even have a word for it: brainrot (脑腐). It means spending too much time on useless phone things makes our minds feel tired and not focused. However, when you’re older, you’ll get a phone too. Now, you can enjoy the real world—play outside or have face-to-face talks. Trust me, you’re not really losing anything. In fact, you may be free of the brainrot. Best, Dr. Know

Computers can injure (伤害) you. Most other injuries happen suddenly. For example, if you fall off a bike and break your arms, it happens very quickly. But computer injuries happen slowly.
You probably know how to ride a bike safely. Now let’s learn how to use a computer safely.
Your eyes
Too much light can injure your eyes, so never sit too close to a computer screen. Your eyes should be at least 50 centimeters from the screen. Remember to look away from it sometimes. This gives your eyes a rest.
When you use a computer, the window should be on your left or your right. If it is behind you, the light will reflect on the screen. If the window is in front of you, the sun and the screen will both shine into your eyes.
Your hands and wrists (手腕)
Hand and wrist injuries can happen because the hands and wrists are moved in the same way hundreds of times. If you use a keyboard for a long time, follow these three rules:
Rest your wrists on something.
Keep your elbows (肘) at the same height as the keyboard.
Stop sometimes and exercise your hands, wrists in a different way.
Your back
Some people sit for many hours in front of a computer. If you sit in the wrong way, you can injure your back or your neck. So you should sit with your back straight. The top part of the screen should be in front of your eyes. Your forearms, wrists, hands and the upper part of your legs should all be parallel (平行的) to the floor. If you are sitting for a long time, get up every thirty minutes and exercise your arms, legs and neck.
Enjoy your computer, but use it safely.

The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in China. It falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.
This festival is in memory of Qu Yuan, a great poet (诗人) in China. Here is one story about him. Qu Yuan loved his country deeply. But when his country was in danger, he couldn’t save it. In the end, he jumped into the Miluo River. People were so sad that they rowed boats quickly to try to save him. Later, to stop fish from eating his body, they threw zongzi into the river. Since then, dragon boat races and eating zongzi have become the main activities of the Dragon Boat Festival.
On the Dragon Boat Festival, some people also hang Chinese mugwort (艾草). They believe it can drive away illnesses and bring good luck to the family. Besides, children often wear perfume pouches (香囊) made of colorful silk cloth and special herbs (草药).
