Weeks passed, and the tension between them reached boiling point. Li Wei avoided the clinic,

Then came a big chance: a national dance competition. Li Wei’ s hands shook as she filled out
the application form, her heart beating fast. But when she looked at the bottom of the page, she felt
scared. The form needed a parent’s signature, a sad reminder of the gap between her and her mother.
