Federica Brignone tilted her head toward the sky and watched the Italian Air Force’s flying unit leave behind a
trail of her country’s colors above the snowy peaks of the Dolomites. Moments later, with Italy’s president
watching, she stepped onto the stage and received a gold medal. It was a fairytale ending to her super-G victory at
the Milan Cortina Olympics — one she herself could hardly believe.
Just ten months earlier, the Italian skier had broken multiple bones in her left leg in a terrible crash. She could
not walk for three months and needed two operations. A metal plate and seven or eight screws (螺丝) still hold her
leg together. “I didn’t know if I would be able to walk again. Or ever ski again,” she said. “For me, it was just
special to be here.”
Yet on race day, Brignone delivered a near-perfect run. She finished 0.41 seconds ahead of the silver medalist
— a huge gap in Alpine skiing. Many competitors struggled with the difficult course, made even harder by fog and
flat light, but the 35-year-old “Tiger,” known for her fighting spirit and the animal design on her helmet (头盔),
was unstoppable.
This victory gave Brignone the one big prize missing from her long career: an Olympic gold medal. She
became the oldest woman to win an Alpine skiing gold at the Olympics. It was her fourth Olympic medal, tying the
record for the most by an Italian woman skier.
Her journey back was anything but easy. After her crash in April, she did not compete again until late January
— just weeks before the Olympics. The team doctor said that for a normal person, recovery would still be going on.
“But it’s the champion that makes the difference.”
During the opening ceremony, Brignone was still in pain. She asked a teammate to carry her on his shoulders
so she could wave the Italian flag. That moment now feels like part of a story too perfect to be true — except that
it was. As her friend Lindsey Vonn wrote online, “What an incredible comeback!”
4. What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about
A. Brignone’s serious injury. B. The hard Olympic training.
C. The doctor’s recovery advice. D. The steps of the operation.
5. What do we know about Brignone’s super-G win
A. She skied in perfect light. B. She won by 0.41 seconds.
C. She was the youngest winner. D. She beat all competitors easily.
6. What can be learned about Brignone’s recovery
A. It followed the normal process.
B. It was assisted by her teammate.
C. It took her less than three months.
D. It was faster than a normal person’s.
7. Which word best describes Brignone
A. Generous. B. Modest. C. Determined. D. Humorous.

In January, OpenAI began to introduce a new feature to ChatGPT in certain countries. This feature, called
ChatGPT Health, is designed for users to upload their medical data and ask for health advice.
However, a new study has found that ChatGPT Health regularly fails to recognize the need for emergency
medical care, raising serious safety concerns. The study, which has been published in Nature Medicine, found that
in over half of the cases that were real emergencies, ChatGPT underestimated the seriousness and urgency of the
situation.
The researchers created 60 realistic medical scenarios (场景) that ranged from mild health problems to medical
emergencies. They also had doctors look at each scenario and decide what type of medical care was needed in each
case. The researchers then asked ChatGPT Health for advice for each of these scenarios. They varied the patients’
personal details and other factors, such as comments from family or friends, each time they asked. Altogether, the
researchers received 960 responses.
In 52% of cases where people should have been advised to go to the hospital immediately, ChatGPT Health
suggested staying at home or making a regular medical appointment. On the other hand, in almost 65% of
non-urgent cases, ChatGPT Health advised people to get immediate medical care. ChatGPT Health was also 12
times more likely to take symptoms (症状) less seriously and suggest less urgent care if informed that a friend or
family member thought the situation wasn’t serious.
Responding to the findings, some health experts have warned that using ChatGPT Health could lead to people
not getting the urgent medical care they need, as well as an increase in people asking for unnecessary medical care.
The researchers say their results suggest that AI systems such as ChatGPT Health are not adaptable enough to
respond to serious medical inquiries, and that humans may still be needed to oversee such important medical
decisions.
8. What could users do with ChatGPT Health
A. Upload medical data for health advice. B. Access others’ personal details.
C. Get real-time help from human doctors. D. Treat all emergency medical conditions.
9. What did the 960 responses from ChatGPT Health show
A. It ignored mild health problems. B. It followed doctors’ judgment fully.
C. It gave correct advice in most cases. D. It often misjudged medical urgency.
10. What can be inferred about ChatGPT Health
A. It can replace human medical supervision. B. It may add pressure to health care systems.
C. It is designed only for emergency care cases. D. It collects more medical data than required.
11. What is the main purpose of the text
A. To promote a new AI feature. B. To teach how to use AI medical tools.
C. To compare AI’s and doctors’ advice. D. To warn of risks of ChatGPT Health.

Inspired by the thunderous footsteps of the huge dinosaur in Jurassic Park, a German startup called IMENSUS
has designed a rover (探测车) that could change the way we explore the Moon. The rover generates seismic (地震
的) waves that travel deep into the ground, creating artificial quakes to map what lies beneath. “We’re shaking the
ground,” said David Frey, head of engineering.
On Earth, this technology helps mining companies locate valuable materials such as copper and gold. Seismic
waves slow down when passing through dense, mineral-rich rocks. By measuring wave speeds with surface sensors,
prospectors can identify underground resources without digging. But Frey believes the real potential lies beyond
our planet. As space agencies set their sights on the Moon, accessing local resources — such as ice at the lunar
South Pole and regolith (月壤) for construction — will be essential. “Everyone’s just thinking, ‘Let’s go, dig, and
use the material.’ But there might be a huge rock underneath. You want to know this before you go, because it’s
super expensive,” Frey explained.
Unlike past scientific missions that relied on unpredictable natural moonquakes, this method would let the rover
generate controlled seismic events on demand. Lunar seismologist Dr. Nicholas Schmerr from the University of
Maryland noted that such seismic sounding can effectively locate structures within the top kilometer of the
subsurface, including lava tubes or buried ices.
However, Schmerr also warned that extreme temperatures, solar radiation, and sharp, rough regolith on the Moon
could easily destroy machinery. While IMENSUS’s Earth-based pilot phase is set to begin in 2027, applying the
same technology on the Moon will require careful engineering to ensure survival in such harsh conditions.
Still, both experts agree that seismic exploration will be vital for future lunar missions. Whether IMENSUS’s
concept reaches the Moon depends on the progress of programs like NASA’s Artemis. But as Frey sees it, the same
technology could one day be used on Mars or even asteroids. One thing is certain: if humans are to build a lasting
presence beyond Earth, we must first understand what lies beneath the surface.
12. What do surface sensors do in the seismic technology
A. Locate ice at the lunar South Pole.
B. Analyze underground resources.
C. Measure the speed of seismic waves.
D. Dig out mineral-rich rocks directly.
13. How is the new seismic method different from past missions
A. It needs underground sensors. B. It relies on natural seismic activities.
C. It produces controlled moonquakes. D. It investigates deep lunar structures.
14. What does the underlined word “harsh” in paragraph 4 probably mean
A. Severe. B. Calm. C. Mild. D. Normal.
15. What is the text mainly about
A. Seismic waves on the Moon.
B. A new way to explore the Moon.
C. Challenges of living on the Moon.
D. Building an operational lunar base.

Cross-cultural communication can feel challenging at first due to various cultural differences. ____16____ Here
are four key strategies for better cross-cultural connection.
●Learn about the culture beforehand to avoid simple mistakes. Understanding basic rules and customs of the
culture shows your respect. ____17____ Knowing what is polite and rude prevents awkward moments and boosts
your confidence. Small efforts like learning some polite phrases also leave a good impression on others.
●Speak clearly and stay away from slang (俚语) or difficult idioms. Slow down your speech a little when
talking to non-native speakers and never shout — it often seems rude. ____18____ as slang hardly translates well
and can cause offense. Politely ask them to explain again if you notice confusion, for clear communication builds
trust and ensures your message is understood correctly.
●Pay close attention to non-verbal signals like gestures and eye contact. Body language varies worldwide, so
what seems normal to you may offend others. ____19____ Use open-handed gestures at first. Observe locals’
personal space and rules about physical contact, and adjust your behavior to show cultural sensitivity.
●____20____ Cultural differences may lead to confusion, but anger is useless. Accept that conversations won’t
always go smoothly. Honestly admit your confusion and ask for clarification gently, and encourage the other
person to do the same. Being open-minded helps you learn from these interactions, and patience creates a positive
environment where both sides feel valued.
A. Tell others your own culture is better to show confidence.
B. For example, pointing with one finger is rude in some places.
C. Remain patient and open-minded when misunderstandings happen.
D. You can easily find such relevant information online or in guidebooks.
E. But good communication skills alone cannot solve all cultural problems.
F. However, it becomes much smoother with targeted and practical methods.
G. Use standard words instead of casual expressions that may confuse others,

Annie Byrne, a single mother, lived in a small house with a small backyard in a Canadian town. Having lost
her full-time job, she had to work several part-time jobs to make ends meet. Money was always tight, and she often
skipped meals to save for Simon’s school supplies and utility bills. A cold wind blew through the broken kitchen
window, but since she couldn’t afford to fix it, Annie had stuffed old towels into the gaps to keep out the cold.
Every night, Annie tossed and turned in bed, worrying about putting food on the table for the next day. Simon, who
pretended to be asleep, hated seeing his mom bury her face in her hands and cry quietly.
One day, Simon overheard his mom talking to a friend about the vegetables she’d been growing. “I planted
them to save on groceries,” Annie sighed, wiping sweat from her forehead — she’d just rushed home from her
cleaning job. “Now, I’m wondering if I could sell the extras for a little money. But I’m just too worn out to do
anything else after work.”
The idea stayed with Simon, but soon, a better plan occurred to him. He remembered how his classmate had
mentioned that the farm’s fresh produce sold fast.
“Mom, I’ve got a better idea,” Simon said after her friend left. “One of my classmates’ families runs an organic
farm. After school, I can go there to buy fresh vegetables and sell them at the street corner. Could I use our
emergency savings to buy supplies The produce is organic, and people around here care about that. I promise it
won’t get in the way of my studies.”
“Are you sure, Simon It might take up all your free time, and you’ll miss out on hanging out with your
friends.”
“I’m sure, Mom. I don’t mind at all. What matters is that you don’t have to work so hard. You come home so
tired every day that you can barely speak,” Simon said firmly.
Reluctantly, his mother agreed and gave him the small amount of money for the purchase.
注意:1.续写词数应为 150 个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
The next afternoon, Simon rode his bike to the farm.

【答案】
The next afternoon, Simon rode his bike to the farm. Bathed in soft sunshine, he carefully selected fresh and
lush organic vegetables of various kinds. Moved by his filial piety and firm determination, the farm owner gave
him a generous discount. After neatly packing all the produce, Simon hurried to the bustling street corner. With
sincere smiles and great patience, he recommended his fresh, pesticide-free vegetables to passers-by. Before long,
all vegetables were sold out, bringing him his first hard-earned profit.
The steady income began to ease the family’s burden. Annie gradually cut down exhausting extra part-time
jobs and no longer skipped meals to make ends meet. She managed to repair the broken kitchen window and had
enough time to rest and relax. Witnessing his worn-out mother regain energy and wear warm smiles every day,
Simon was overwhelmed with pride. Though life used to be harsh and tough, their joint efforts warmed their life
and ushered in bright and promising days.
