Anita Nowinska found her long-lost box of pastels (蜡笔) while digging through a worn suitcase, using only a
candle for light as her power was cut off. “By candlelight I created my first flower painting,” she recalls. “As I
painted, I found the deep sadness and pain I was feeling disappeared. That single act saved me, healed me and gave
me a sense of purpose.”
It was not, as she puts it, the straightest of career paths. As an eight-year-old, Anita was invited to study
alongside a master’s group. “It wouldn’t be allowed these days,” she says. Her mother, supportive, bought her oil
paints; her father, less so, frequently destroyed her work. Later, Anita swapped (交换) paints for fast money. “It
gave me a very nice lifestyle financially,” she says, “but it was soul-destroying.”
Anita set aside her art to run a recruitment (招聘) business in the growing Internet sector, but she didn’t
remember being happy throughout those years. When the dot-com bubble (互联网泡沫) burst, many of her clients
were hit hard. Despite covering expenses with her own savings, her business ultimately sank.
Today, she is known for her vast, immersive (沉浸式的) canvases of meadows (草地), wild grasses and
flowers — paintings that ask you to stop, breathe and look. “I want the viewer to see what I see. That the smallest
thing in nature has so much beauty and wonder.” She paints big because she wants you to feel enveloped, caught in
the flicker of a slight wind.
Art, for Anita, is a celebration of nature. “Walking through the greenery is my meditation (冥想),” she says.
“These days we call it mindfulness, but for me it’s just immersing myself in wonder.” Viewers seem to agree. One
woman in a wheelchair once sat with Anita’s work for three hours, later admitting it was the first time in 20 years
she had felt no pain. That, for Anita, is the point. “I can’t teach you how to paint,” she says. “I can only teach you
how to look.” And her latest series, See Me I Bloom, carries that lesson into womanhood itself: “It’s about women
truly valuing themselves — their strength, their wisdom, their determination. We create and nurture life — what
could be more important ”
24. What can be known about Anita’s early relationship with art in Paragraph 2
A. She received formal art education from a young age.
B. Her parents fully supported her artistic pursuits.
C. She prioritized financial success over art from the beginning.
D. Her artistic talent was recognized early but she faced obstacles.
25. How did Anita feel about her years in the recruitment business
A. Rewarding yet stressful. B. Empty and meaningless.
C. Challenging yet enjoyable. D. Successful and content.
26. Why does Anita paint large canvases
A. To follow the trend of contemporary art forms.
B. To showcase her unique pastel techniques.
C. To create a sense of complete immersion in nature.
D. To distract viewers from technical imperfections.
27. Which of the following is the best title for the text
A. The Road to Business: Anita’s Career Change
B. Anita’s Art Story: How Painting Heals
C. The Commercial Value of Nature Paintings
D. From Financial Success to Artistic Failure
C
The idea that smiling can make you feel happier has a long history. In 1872, Darwin mused (沉思) about
whether an emotion that was expressed would be felt more intensely than one that was repressed. Early
psychologists were musing about it in the 1880s. More than a hundred studies have been published on the topic.
And it’s a trope (比喻) of pop wisdom: “Smile, though your heart is aching,” sang Nat King Cole in 1954. “You’ll
find that life is still worthwhile, if you’ll just smile.”
In 2018, social psychologist Fritz Strack published a study that seemed to confirm that facial feedback was
real. The researchers asked participants to hold a pen in their mouths in a position that forced them either to bare
their teeth in a copy of a smile or to purse their lips around the pen. To make sure that no one was clued in to the
researchers’ interest in smiles, the experimenters told participants that they were exploring how people with
physical disabilities might write or perform other ordinary tasks.
When both groups were shown a set of newspaper comics — specifically, illustrations from GaryLarson’s
The Far Side — the teeth-barers rated the images as funnier than the lip-pursers did. This was a big deal for the
facial feedback hypothesis (假设): Even though participants weren’t thinking about smiling or their mood, just
moving their face into a smile-like shape seemed to affect their emotions. And so the finding made its way into
psychology textbooks and countless news headlines. Decades of confirmation followed, as researchers published
other experiments that also showed support for the facial feedback hypothesis. But in 2025, all at once, 17 labs
failed to repeat the pen study.
28. What does the underlined word “repressed” in Paragraph 1 mean
A. Tolerated. B. Controlled. C. Appreciated. D. Recognized.
29. What can we learn from the second paragraph
A. Researchers didn’t share their true purpose.
B. Participants were physically disabled.
C. Participants were confused about the experiment.
D. Researchers didn’t show their facial feedback.
30. What’s the author’s attitude towards the result of the experiment
A. Objective. B. Supportive. C. Doubtful. D. Critical.
31. What does the text mainly talk about
A. How to make yourself feel happier easily.
B. Darwin’s thoughts about expressed emotions.
C. The research process of facial feedback hypothesis.
D. Comics’ influence on people’s mood.

For years, sugar has been labeled a primary cause behind the global rise in diabetes (糖尿病), especially type
2 diabetes (T2D). However, groundbreaking research from Brigham Young University challenges this broad
assumption. A large-scale study reveals a crucial detail: the source and form of sugar matter significantly when it
comes to diabetes risk.
The findings paint a contrasting picture. On one hand, sugars consumed in liquid form — specifically
through sugar-sweetened drinks like soda and even 100% fruit juice — were consistently linked to a sharply
increased risk of developing T2D. On the other hand, sugars naturally present in or added to solid, nutrient-dense
whole foods (such as whole fruits, dairy products, or whole grains) appeared to be far less harmful or potentially
even protective.
Why is there such a big difference Researchers point to metabolism (新陈代谢). Liquid sugars from drinks
act like isolated sugar floods entering the system. They cause rapid and large jumps in blood sugar, overwhelming
the liver. This metabolic disruption leads to increased liver fat and insulin resistance-key factors in T2D
development. By contrast, sugars added to solid foods are released much more slowly into the bloodstream. The
fiber, fat, protein, and other beneficial nutrients naturally accompanying the sugar in these whole foods act as
buffers, reducing the glycemic (血糖的) impact and preventing the liver from being overloaded.
The study delivers a clear warning about fruit juice. Despite containing some vitamins, its high concentration
of liquid sugar makes it a poor substitute for whole fruit. The vital fiber present in whole fruit, crucial for
moderating blood sugar response, is largely missing in juice.
“This study emphasizes the need for even stricter recommendations for liquid sugars such as those in
sugar-sweetened drinks and fruit juice, as they appear to harmfully associate with metabolic health,” said Della
Corte, one of the lead researchers. “Rather than criticizing all added sugars, future dietary guidelines might
consider the different effects of sugar based on its source and form.”
32. Which form of sugar consumption brings a higher T2D risk
A. Sugar naturally found in whole fruits.
B. Sugar from whole grains and dairy products.
C. Sugar present in various liquid drinks.
D. Sugar added to nutrient-dense solid foods.
33. What does Paragraph 3 focus on
A. The benefits of sugar metabolism. B. The reasons for sugar metabolism.
C. The significance of sugar metabolism. D. The differences in sugar metabolism.
34. To lower the risk of T2D, which practice is most likely supported by the study
A. Replacing soda drinks with whole fruits.
B. Avoiding dairy products containing sugar.
C. Consuming as much fiber and fat as possible.
D. Increasing consumption of 100% fruit juice.
35. What can be inferred from Della Corte’s statement about future dietary guidelines
A. They should remove fruit juice from recommendations.
B. They should reconsider the impact of sugar on metabolism.
C. They should criticize sugars regardless of different effects.
D. They should not adopt a one-size-fits-all approach to sugar.

We use plastics to make many things, from medical equipment to TVs to food packaging. At the end of their
useful life, most plastic products are thrown away. 36 This causes problems, especially for the world’s
oceans. Scientists are working to solve the problems. But in the meantime, here are four things you can do to
reduce plastic waste now.
Quit using plastic bags. Instead, take your own reusable shopping bags to the store. People use a trillion
(1,000 billion) plastic bags worldwide every year. About 10 percent are used in the United States alone. That’s
almost one bag per American per day. Meanwhile, a Dane uses four single-use bags per year on average. 37
Today, other countries either make customers pay for plastic bags, or have banned them completely.
Skip the straw (吸管). Today, around 8.3 billion plastic straws pollute the world’s beaches. We should do
something to turn over the situation. So when you order a drink, you can say no to the straw. 38 In 2018,
Seattle became the first major US city to stop using plastic straws, and many other cities are set to follow its
example.
39 Buy bar soap instead of liquid soap in plastic containers. Don’t buy fruit or vegetables on plastic
packaging. In the United Kingdom, leaders are calling for supermarkets to have plastic-free areas. They also want
to tax plastic take-out containers.
Recycle. 40 But it is possible to recycle most plastic bottles and milk or juice boxes. Today, Norway
recycles 97 percent of its plastic bottles. How Machines at most supermarkets take the bottles and give a refund of
up to 32 cents per bottle.
A. Set up plastic-free areas.
B. Avoid plastic packaging.
C. We can’t stop recycling plastic bottles.
D. We can’t recycle all plastic products.
E. You can also bring your own reusable one.
F. These plastics then break down into smaller pieces that can last for centuries.
G. In 1993, Denmark was the first country to place a tax on plastic bags.

第二节(共 10 小题;每小题 1.5 分,满分 15 分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入 1 个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
A Scientific American article describes a recent study that applies artificial intelligence to analyze tongue
colour for disease prediction, 56 modernizes a diagnostic method from Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM). In TCM, the tongue’s colour and coating are thought to reflect internal health, yet human 57
(assess) is subjective. Researchers led by Javaan Chahl and Ali Al-Naji created a standardized imaging kiosk using
controlled LED lighting 58 (ensure) uniformity.
Their machine-learning system, trained on 5,260 images, classified seven tongue colours and linked them to
diseases such as anemia, diabetes, and certain cancers, 59 (reach) about 96.6% accuracy. Testing with
hospital data from Iraq confirmed 58 of 60 diagnoses. Healthy tongues appeared pink, 60 variations —
bluish-yellow for diabetes or purple for cancer — suggested specific conditions.
So far, experts 61 (point) out that tongue colour alone cannot provide a complete diagnosis, citing the
need for larger, more diverse datasets and standardized image labeling. The researchers are 62 (active)
expanding their work to include tongue shape and facial analysis and have introduced BenCao, 63
GPT-based wellness app that offers non-medical health feedback from 64 (upload) tongue photos.
This project highlights both the promise and the limits 65 integrating ancient diagnostic wisdom with
modern AI, suggesting a supportive rather than substitutive role for such tools.

第二节(满分 25 分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Recently, I started my first day of high school. A lot of people build up the first day to be the most
intimidating (令人惊恐的) thing. I went from a tiny middle school to this giant high school and was expecting not
to know where anything was. I also was panicking because I knew ninth grade would have higher expectations than
eighth, and I wasn’t sure how I would do at taking on that challenge. The one thing that kept me calm was that my
best friend Dora is actually at my new school, so I have someone to talk to or at least go to when I don’t know what
I’m doing.
I had to take the bus to school, which was not something I’d had to do before. Dora and I took the bus together
and we talked the whole way there about how we thought the first day would turn out. When we entered the school,
everyone was hugging and saying hi and I was awkwardly standing there and holding onto my friend’s bag through
the crowd of people. I hated crowds so I stayed with Dora who was probably annoyed by me holding onto her the
whole morning. I started to calm down when we all were waiting for the first bell to ring. When Dora and I had to
separate, I didn’t want to go to class. When I did, I simply stood at the door because I had no idea where to sit. I sat
in the way back. My teacher seemed friendly so I was a little calm. My deskmate Jane barely talked, but when she
did, she seemed really nice.
Although a lot of students might not laugh when I make a strange joke, they weren’t rude. My teachers told us
about the high expectations for their school and I was kind of worried because I came from a school where I didn’t
have too much work or high expectations. After maths class, we need to go to another classroom to have history
class.
注意:
1.续写词数应为 150 个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I was a little scared because I had no idea where to go.
During lunch, Jane and I joined Dora at a table.

第一节
One possible version:
Good afternoon, everyone! Ancient poetry is the long-standing traditional culture of China. However, some of
students in high school ignore the learning of ancient poetry, thinking it boring and useless, which is really
upsetting.
Chinese poetry culture is vast and profound, and we still need to carefully appreciate it and understand it. We
can benefit a lot from learning Chinese poems. Firstly, it can help us know more about the history of our country.
Secondly, it will enhance our writing skills. Last but not least, some poems are able to make us more optimistic,
tolerant and determined when we are faced with difficulties.
In a word, it is high time for us to treasure and develop our own traditional poetry culture.
That’s all. Thank you!
第二节
One possible version:
I was a little scared because I had no idea where to go. The hallways were a sea of unfamiliar faces, and the
noise level was overwhelming. I clutched my schedule tightly, trying to navigate through the bustling crowds.
Every now and then, I would bump into someone or get jostled, which only added to my anxiety. Dora had a
different schedule, so I was on my own. I felt like everyone else knew exactly where they were going, while I was
lost in a maze. Suddenly, I heard Jane call my name. She was worried about me. With the help of Jane, I found my
next classroom just as the bell rang. I slipped into a seat, feeling relieved but still nervous about what the rest of the
day would bring.
During lunch, Jane and I joined Dora at a table. At first, I introduced Jane to Dora. Then Dora introduced us to
some of her other friends, and although I was still a bit shy, I tried to join in the conversation. We all laughed about
how awkward the morning had been. It was comforting to have a familiar face and to see that not everyone was as
confident as they seemed. As the day went on, I started to feel more comfortable. I found myself joking with Jane,
my desk mate, during our next class. By the end of the day, I realized that high school wasn’t as intimidating as I
had feared, and I was ready to face the challenges ahead with a bit more confidence.

W: But he didn’t mind
M: No, he didn’t say anything, but I know some people who have failed two or three times on that issue.
W: It must make you very proud to have passed at the first attempt.
M: More a relief than anything. I was so worried about it.
(Text 9)
W: What are you doing in the holiday
M: Well, my uncle is coming to visit for several weeks.
W: Where are you going
M: For the first week, we’re just going to stay in the city. He wants to explore the city. I’m going to take him to the
usual places, like Hollywood and all the movie studios. Then after that, we’re going to Palm Springs for a couple of
days and visit a friend of mine there. We’re driving there because it’s so beautiful going through the mountains.
W: Sounds good!
M: What about you Do you have any plans for the vacation
W: I’m going to stay at home and do some gardening the first week because my parents will take a trip. I’m going
to take swimming classes the second week. My sister is going to teach me. She is a swimming instructor.
M: That’s great.
(Text 10)
M: I’d always enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together again since I was a child, so when I
left school, I decided to become a mechanic. I studied hard and eventually got my qualifications and started
working.
First, I worked mostly on cars and vehicles, but after getting bored of my town and longing for adventure I
decided that I wanted to try something new. I decided to apply for a position as a mechanic on a ship.
It was a big change, but I was excited. I learnt a lot about the different systems on the ship and how to keep
them running. It was a challenge and so different from before, I struggled at first but I enjoyed it once I got used to
it. I felt a great sense of satisfaction when I fixed things.
The crew were all very helpful and it was a great experience. I travelled all over the world and saw some
amazing places. I completed my work and travelled. I learnt a lot about the different cultures and was able to use
the skills I learnt in my training. Eventually, I returned to my country and started my own repair shop.
