Music and me
Music is all around us: in shopping malls, on television, in schools and hospitals. I believe that music is everywhere.
Different kinds of music give me different feelings. I mainly listen to rock and pop, but I also like other types of music, such as hip-hop, jazz, and classical. I feel sad when I hear a sad song. Lively music makes me feel joyful. I think I can do better at school if I could do my work with music on. Music makes it easier for me to focus.
I find out about new music in different ways. I listen to new songs on the radio, especially in the car. I discovered my favourite song on a friend’s playlist. But the main way I find out about new music is to check the top-watched videos online. I couldn’t feel more excited when I find a new song I love.

I’m learning how to play the keyboard. The happiest moment is when I play it after I know a piece well. I can just enjoy it without thinking about how to get the beat right or play the notes right. But I’m not sure I’m going to stay with the keyboard. I might want to learn some traditional Chinese musical instruments like the erhu.
I would like to create my own music—I’ll take all these different sounds and put them together into a piece. I have tried a bit on the computer with a simple music program. It was so fun to produce my own music.
I’m always amazed at how many ways there are to learn, create, and enjoy music. I cannot imagine a world without it.
