Dear Tom,
I’m glad to receive a letter from you. I’m writing to introduce you a person
devoted to Chinese traditional crafts. The craftsman I’d like to talk about is my
65-year-old grandma. She is a master of paper-cutting, a traditional Chinese folk art.
The process of making paper-cuts is of great fun. She only needs a pair of
scissors and some red paper to work magic. First, she folds the paper into different
shapes, then she cuts out delicate patterns like flowers, animals or Chinese characters
by hand. Every piece she makes is full of warmth and creativity. Her works are often
used to decorate houses during festivals.
I really expect that you can come to China someday. I’ll take you to visit her and
even learn to make paper-cutting together. I’m sure you’ll fall in love with this
beautiful art form.
