SUNSHINE STREET — An 8-year-old boy was hit by a bicycle yesterday afternoon. The accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. near Green Park.
The boy, Tom Brown, was walking home from school. His dog suddenly ran across the street. Tom was running after it when a bicycle came. The rider, Jack White, a 16-year-old high school student, was riding home. He tried to stop, but it was too late. Tom fell down and hurt his leg.
A shop owner, Mrs. Green, saw everything. “I was closing my shop when I heard a cry. I ran out to help,” she said. She called an ambulance. Tom was taken to the hospital. He was lucky — his leg was not broken.
The police said, “Children should be careful when walking near the street.”
