I always loved singing, and I was pretty good at it when I was 12. I hoped that one day I could make my dream of being a pop star come true.
Later, I heard about a school program called “Educational Talent Search”. It sounded like the famous TV show — American Idol.
But this program was only held during class time. I felt a little worried, but I still decided to take part in it. I walked into the classroom for the program, but I felt something strange. It was a computer classroom with lots of computers. Besides, the other students there didn’t look like they were good at any special talents either. Then a teacher said hello to me and led me to a computer with some papers on it. I tried to tell him I had made a mistake, but he thought I was just nervous.
In fact, this program was for students who found it hard to get into college. The students could come here to get advice on how to make their study plans, and also get help with things like free exams.
After the class, I told the teacher again about my mistake. He found my mistake very funny, but also discovered that I qualified for the program. So I took part in it from middle school to high school. We visited different colleges, sat in on college classes, and helped each other make study plans. It was such a great experience.

China’s Fridges Use Less Power Starting in 2026
①How much electricity does your fridge use Very soon, fridges in China will use less electricity and have more space for food. This will happen because of new rules starting on June 1, 2026, said The Paper.
②To see how much electricity a fridge uses, look for the China Energy Label. It is a blue-and-white sticker (贴标) on the front of the fridge. This label was first introduced in 2005. It shows levels from class 1 to class 5. Class 1 is the best. Many machines, like TVs and washing machines, also have this label to help people choose wisely.
③The new rules are stricter. For example, before, a 500-liter fridge could be class 1 if it used 0.92 kilowatt-hours (kWh) each day. Under the new rules, it must use no more than 0.55 kWh. This can save about 135 kWh of electricity in a year and about 68 yuan on the bill, CCTV said.
④Since our country sells about 60 million fridges each year, this means China can save about 13 billion kWh in electricity!
⑤ ▲ Expert Cheng Jianhong said fridge makers must give 10 to 30 percent more space inside. They can do this by using new technology, such as thinner insulation materials.
⑥The government also gives money back if people buy energy-efficient fridges. For class 1 fridges, buyers can get up to 2,000 yuan back. For class 2 fridges, they get up to 1,500 yuan back, according to media reports.

Before I was born, doctors knew I had some health problems. Ten days after I was born, I had my first surgery. I got my first scar then. Later, I had a big heart surgery that lasted six hours. It left a long mark down the middle of my chest.
Today, I am completely healthy. Although I still visit the hospital every year, my heart problem does not limit (限制) me. I can play sports and do any activity without worry. If you just looked at me, you would not know I was ever sick.
