The Best Time to Visit China
You may think the best time to travel to China is
almost all year round. China is such a large country that
you can always find a nice place to travel to each month.
However, spring and autumn are widely regarded as the
top choices.
When Is China at Its Best
Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) are the ideal times to enjoy pleasant weather and
beautiful natural scenery. Autumn is a great season for nature lovers, photographers (摄影师) and anyone who
enjoys being outdoors.
What If You Can Only Travel in Summer or Winter
☆ Choose the Lesser-Known Routes (路线)
Most famous places have more than one way to visit. Instead of visiting the most crowded places, pick a less
popular section or route nearby.
☆ Beat the Crowds
Famous places are usually busiest between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Get an early start around 6 a.m. for a peaceful
morning visit. Or go later in the afternoon after 4 p.m., when tour groups start to leave.
☆ Avoid the High Season
Try not to travel from August 1st to 15th, as it is the busiest travel season. If you prefer a less crowded trip, late June
is a good choice. However, avoid southern cities like Guilin and Guangzhou during this time, as they often
experience heavy rain.
☆ Winter Travel Tips
If you choose to travel in winter, you’ll enjoy fewer crowds and lower prices in most places. You can also enjoy
winter festivals, such as the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival.
☆ Consider Working with a Local Travel Agency (旅行社)
A thoughtfully planned route can turn a busy day into a surprisingly smooth experience. You can consider choosing
a local travel agency, which can make travel plans just for you and your family. You just need to tell the agency
your travel goals, time and other needs.

Deep in the forest lived a strong lion. The lion started the Strong Club, and he thought only strong animals
could join. So he made a rule: every club member must be able to lift a heavy rock. The elephant and the tiger
joined soon after lifting heavy rocks easily. One sunny day, the lion was lifting a huge rock when he saw a group of
tiny ants. They were carrying something much bigger than they were! “How can such small insects be so strong ”
he said. One of the ants stopped and said, “Strength (力量) isn’t about lifting alone. It’s about working together. I
can’t lift a rock alone, but if my friends and I work together, we can lift a rock just like you do.”
The lion thought hard. Then he noticed a small snail (蜗牛) near the river. The snail was slowly climbing a wet
rock, shaking and almost falling. “Why don’t you give up It seems so difficult for you,” he said. ▲ the snail
said.
That Friday, the lion held a meeting. “I was wrong about the club rule,” he said to the animals. “My rule only
fits one kind of strength, but the ants’ teamwork and the snail’s persistence (坚持) are also kinds of strength!” The
other animals agreed.
“From today on,” the lion said, “the Strong Club is open to everyone! Whether you’re fast, slow, big, or small
— if you can show your strength, you belong here.”
Cheers filled the forest! A little mouse asked with excitement, “Does that mean I can join for being clever ”
“Of course!” the lion laughed.

realized the biggest strength of all was opening his heart and accepting the differences.

Humans build houses in different styles. Similarly, some birds also like to make their “houses” look special.
Bird nests can be found everywhere. People used to believe that birds made nests just for shelter (庇护所).
They protect a mother’s eggs and baby birds from the cold, wind and enemies. However, a team of scientists from
the University of St Andrews in the UK looked more into bird nests. They studied white-browed sparrow weavers
(白眉麻雀织布鸟) in the Kalahari Desert in Africa and found that these birds have different nest-building styles
from each other. That’s why scientists believe these birds are like “artists” — not because their nests are beautiful,
but because each family has its own special way of building them.
These differences in building styles are clear among different bird families. Some of the bird families they saw
made simple nests with no decorations (装饰). Others made nests with long openings to fly into. These openings
can be 10 centimeters longer than those of simpler nests. This might not seem a lot to humans, but for these
small birds, it’s a big difference.
More importantly, the bird families work together to build them, and each bird has its own special job. Some
birds are great at collecting materials, while others are good at building.
“Once they started, everybody followed, and now they have a tradition,” Maria Tello-Ramos from the team
told The New York Times. Younger birds watch and try to copy the older ones. This teamwork helps them learn
the ways to build special nests.
