Last summer, I volunteered in a Yunnan village of the Blang ethnic group for a “Cultural
Heritage protection” activity. The village has a unique traditional weaving craft with a history of
hundreds of years, but it is at risk of disappearing as fewer young people are willing to learn it
amid modern industrial development.
When we arrived at the village, we were warmly welcomed by the local people. An elderly
woman named Grandma Mu, who is one of the few remaining master weavers in the village,
invited us to her home. She showed us her weaving works — colorful scarves, bags, and blankets,
each with beautiful patterns that tell stories about the Blang people’s life and nature. As she talked
about the craft, her eyes sparkled with pride. But when she mentioned that no young people in her
family wanted to learn it, her voice became low and sad.
To help promote the traditional weaving craft, we decided to do several things. First, we
took photos and videos of Grandma Mu weaving and her works, and posted them on social media
platforms to let more people know about this precious cultural heritage. Then, we organized a
small weaving workshop, inviting Grandma Mu to teach the village’s young people some basic
weaving skills. At first, only a few young people came, but as they learned more, they became
more interested. They were surprised by the beauty of the patterns and the patience required for
weaving.
After two weeks, I not only learned about the weaving craft but also saw changes in the
young people, some of whom wanted to continue learning. Before leaving, Grandma Mu gave me
a hand-woven bag, saying, “This craft is our root — we must keep it alive.”
Every time I look at that woven bag, I think about the importance of protecting cultural
heritage. It is not just about preserving old crafts, but about keeping the history and identity of a
group of people alive.
24.Why is the Blang’s traditional weaving craft at risk of disappearing
A.Modern industry makes young people unwilling to learn it.
B.Weaving works are not popular anymore.
C.Grandma Mu refuses to teach others.
D.The village lacks weaving tools.
25.What can we infer from Grandma Mu’s feelings about the weaving craft
A.She is proud but worried about its future.
B.She wants to sell all her weaving works.
C.She plans to move to another village.
D.She thinks the craft is useless now.
26.What did the volunteers do to promote the weaving craft
A.They taught the young people to make modern bags.
B.They asked tourists to buy Grandma Mu’s works.
C.They posted photos online and held a workshop.
D.They built a weaving factory for the village.
27.What is the main idea of the passage
A.The volunteers visited a beautiful village in Yunnan.
B.Volunteers help protect Blang’s traditional weaving.
C.Grandma Mu is good at making woven bags.
D.The Blang people are friendly to volunteers.

Who do you think is the next big, rising star in the world of music Well, AI seems to be
causing quite a stir!
Yes, that’s right! Artificial Intelligence (AI) — computer software that allows machines to
think and learn in a human way — is writing music, and the results are amazing!
AI does this by analyzing huge amounts of musical data, using existing samples, styles and
types and can learn to create something completely new. There are lots of different AI Music
software out there, including Boomy, Beatoven. ai and AIVA.
AI music has been spreading online with users creating songs that contain cloned voices of
artists such as Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Kendrick Lamar.
An online creator named “ghostwriter” made the song Heart on My Sleeve, featuring the
cloned voices of singers Drake and the Weeknd without their permission. It managed to get 15
million TikTok views, before Universal Music Group successfully asked for it to be taken down.
Is AI music legal There are still no clear laws surrounding the creation of AI music.
Whether AI music can be legally protected is still under debate. However, some musicians are
happy to embrace AI and want to use it to improve their music.
DJ David Guetta told the BBC that he is “sure the future of music is in AI... but as a tool”.
Sting, an English singer, believes that “there’s going to be a battle we all have to fight in the next
couple of years, defending our human capital against AI”. He urged artists to be careful, saying
“the tools are useful, but we have to drive them”.
Singer Grimes seems enthusiastic about the introduction of AI music, with Rolling Stone
reporting that she said people should “feel free to use her voice” and that she’ll “share 50 percent
profits on any successful AI created song that uses her voice”.
32.How does AI create music
A.By copying existing songs.
B.By working with musicians together.
C.By learning from human emotions and feelings.
D.By basing the new music on existing musical data.
33.Why was Heart on My Sleeve taken down
A.Because it was not good enough.
B.Because it was too expensive to produce.
C.Because it was illegal to use AI in music production.
D.Because it used popular artists’ voice without their permission .
34.What does the underlined word “embrace” in paragraph 6 probably mean
A.Challenge. B.Change. C.Accept. D.Stop
35.What is Singer Grimes’ attitude towards AI music
A.Positive. B.Negative. C.Curious. D.Unclear.

I like running, and for me, success was winning every race I participated in. My classmates
called me“Mr. Champion(冠 军 )”. One day, there was a sports meeting at my school.
Well-prepared for the running competition, I took part in all the races: the 400m, 200m, and 100m.
A large number of people gathered to watch. The crowd was eager to see the running races
because they were the most exciting events. When the 400m race started, all the boys ran fast.
Unsurprisingly, I finished first and received a big round of applause(掌声). Although it was tiring,
I felt proud and was on top of the world.
In the 200m race, I ran at full speed and finished first once again. The crowd gave me
thunderous applause. I jumped all over the place and even didn’t think it was necessary to shake
hands with other racers.
Then came the 100m race. Discouraged by the previous races, most boys gave up except one:
a boy named Matt, who looked a little clumsy(笨拙的 ) but was a determined racer. The judge
came to Matt and explained the situation, asking if he would like to give up too. Wild with joy, I
thought I would win the championship without effort. However, to everyone’s surprise, Matt
decided to finish the race. I sniffed(嗤之以鼻 ), “It’s a waste of time. I’m sure he doesn’t even
know where the finish line is.”
The race between the two of us began. On hearing the starting gun, both Matt and I ran
toward the finish line. Soon I sped up and left Matt behind. Just 30 meters before reaching the
finish line, I was expecting to receive applause for the third time when I suffered a leg spasm(抽
筋).

小作文:
Dear Tom,
Hearing that you are interested in traditional Chinese festivals, I’m writing to tell you
something about my favourite festival — the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most significant festivals in China, which falls on the
15th day of the eighth lunar month. On that day, family members usually get together and have a
feast. Besides, people will also admire the moon and share mooncakes. The reason why I love this
festival is that I like eating mooncakes. They are in the shape of a full moon, carrying people’s
wishes to the families they love and miss.
In short, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a day of pleasure and happiness. I hope that my letter
will help you know more about Chinese festivals.
Yours,
Li Hua
续写: I fell hard to the ground. I tried to stand up, but there was a sharp pain in my leg. My
dream of winning for the third time was over. The crowd’s cheers changed into shocked gasps. I
felt my face burn with shame and frustration. Just moments ago, I was about to win; now I was
lying helpless on the track, unable to move. To my surprise, Matt didn’t rush past. Instead, he
stopped beside me with concern. “Are you okay Let me help you.” He said as he reached out his
hand.
With his help, I slowly stood up. Leaning on his shoulder, I hopped painfully toward the
finish line. My heart was filled with a mixture of gratitude and regret. The audience began to
clap—not for a winner, but for two boys who supported each other and crossed the finish line
together. That day, I realized that the heart of a true champion doesn’t lie in winning, but in
kindness and sportsmanship.
