“What’s wrong, my dear ” the princess asked one morning. “It seems silly,” the prince replied, “but I miss all my friends who live in the pond. We had great fun together! If I could become a frog again, I would show you how wonderful life can be underwater!”
The princess thought living in a dirty pond sounded awful, but she wanted to cheer him up. So she secretly asked a fairy(精灵)for help. The next day, they met by the pond. With a smile and a wave of the magic stick, the fairy’s magic worked.
The couple began to get smaller! The princess looked at her hand — it was turning green. When she looked into the water, she saw a froggy face looking back at her. The prince jumped in. Taking a deep breath, the princess followed.
The cool water felt good! Opening her big eyes, she saw something beautiful, such as moving water plants and shining fish eggs. With a move of her feet, she went quickly through the water. This was fun! The prince was there with her. “See I told you it was nice!” he said, his voice full of joy.

①Many people like to stay at home on grey, rainy days. They think it’s easy for them to get wet when going out in the rain, so they always choose to stay indoors. But some scientists say we should go outside when it rains, because it is good for our health and can make us feel better in many ways.
②When it rains, raindrops fall on the ground or walls and break into small drops. These small drops can create negative ions (负氧离子) , which are just very, very small bits in the air. Besides rain, we can also find these tiny bits near waterfalls, sea waves or morning dew in our daily life. A scientist from a university in the UK said many studies have shown that breathing in these tiny bits can make us happier, help us feel less worried and more energetic. Scientists still don’t know the reason, but the good influence is very clear.
③Rain also does good to the environment. It washes away dust, pollen (花粉) and dirty things in the air, making the air fresh and clean for us to breathe. After a long dry time, when rain falls on dry ground, it gives off a nice earthy smell that can make people feel comfortable and relaxed.
④What’s more, ________. It keeps us cool when we walk, run or ride bikes. The sound of rain and the feeling of rain on our faces can help us relax and get close to nature easily.
⑤In short, going out in the rain is good for both our mind and body. It brings us many advantages that we may not notice easily in our daily life. Next time when it rains, don’t stay inside. Put on your raincoat and go outside to enjoy the beautiful rain!

Not all fruits change color, but many do. This color change is fruits’ way of calling to animals, “Come and get us! We’re ripe (成熟) and ready!”
You might wonder why fruits want to be eaten. The key lies in the secret of the plant. When an animal eats a fruit, it usually eats the small seeds (种子) inside. These seeds travel through the animal’s body, and later, they are dropped in a completely new place far from the parent plant. This allows them to sprout and grow into new plants in a fresh area, avoiding competition for sunlight, water and other things.
What’s more, fruit seeds are often covered with soft, sweet pulp (果肉). This pulp makes it hard for the seeds to start growing on their own. When the seeds pass through an animal’s body, the pulp is gone. This process makes it much easier for the seeds to develop.
However, this whole process only works if the seeds are fully ripe when the animal eats them. That’s why unripe fruits are green. They have a green coloring matter called chlorophyll (叶绿素), which helps them hide among the green leaves of the plant. Once the seeds are fully ripe, the chlorophyll begins to break down. Then, other bright colors — yellows, oranges, reds, blues or purples — are shown. Some fruits even produce new chemicals during the process, which create more different colors.
When fruits change color, they become easy for animals to find among the leaves. Besides changing color, ripe fruits also get softer, sweeter, and many give off a sweet smell. Animals have learned that these signs show them the fruits are safe to eat. This is a perfect win-win relationship. Animals get delicious food, and plants successfully spread their seeds to grow new life all around.
27. What is the meaning of the underlined word “sprout” in Paragraph 2
A. Shake. B. Disappear. C. Develop. D. Recycle.
28. Why are unripe fruits green
A. They have too much pulp. B. They are rich in chlorophyll.
C. They include many seeds. D. They are covered by leaves.
29. Which is a way for fruits to show they are ripe
A. Becoming harder. B. Getting greener.
C. Turning smaller. D. Smelling better.
30. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Why fruits change color when they’re ripe.
B. How animals can help plants spread seeds.
C. When small seeds can grow into new plants.
D. What makes fruits have many kinds of colors.
