When Martha left her alone, Mary decided to explore (探索) the house. She went quietly along corridors (走廊) and up and down stairs. Starting a dream job in a new city, studying at a top university abroad, or traveling for a long time — these are all great chances. But they can also make us feel sad and lonely. What is homesickness, and what can we do about it
Homesickness is not new. Even a very old story, Homer’s *Odyssey* (《奥德赛》), talks about mon symptoms (症状) include feeling sad, worried, and easily getting angry. It can also make people want to hide from activities and feel too tired to do anything. Homesickness may happen to anyone. However, some things can help people feel stronger when facing it. Psychologist Christopher Thurber and healthcare expert Edward Walton tell us that good past experiences of being away from home, a hopeful way of thinking, and a stable (稳定的) home life can help people deal with it better. Homesickness is also less serious when a person feels they are in control of their life, instead of being forced (被迫) to move.
Even with these things, most people who move away from home still feel homesick. Psychologist Nilufar Ahmed says that we should first acknowledge (承认) homesickness — accept that it will happen and work through our feelings. Keeping good connections (联系) is important. Ahmed suggests that people try to fully join in their new surroundings (环境), focus on the good things about their new place and meet new people in an active way. She also suggests staying in touch with home through video chats or other ways, and having things that make you think of home, like your favorite food. However, other psychologists, like Thurber and Walton, say that having these connections to home doesn’t mean we need to give up trying new things.
Feeling some homesickness is very common and hard to avoid when we move to a new place. Knowing this, and taking small steps to make it better, can help us make the most of new chances.
How to 76______ with homesickness
Introduction ◆ It happens when people 77______ in a new city, study abroad or travel for a long time. ◆ It has many common symptoms, 78______ feeling sad, worried, and easily getting angry. ◆ It can also make people want to hide from activities and feel too tired to do anything. ◆ Good past experiences of being away from home, a hopeful way of thinking, and a stable home life are useful 79______ to help people feel stronger.
80______ for people with homesickness ◆ Acknowledging homesickness ◆ 81 in new surroundings ◆ Focusing on the good things about new place ◆ Meeting new people 82______ ◆ Staying in touch with old friends ◆ Having things that remind you of home ◆ Keeping good connections 83______ giving up new things
Conclusion If we know homesickness 84______ commonly, we can take small steps to feel better.
Imagine your best friend moves to a new city and feels very homesick. What will you do to help him/her (at least two things)

B) 请根据短文内容及首字母提示,填写所缺单词。
For many Shanghai locals, no Spring Festival holiday is complete without a visit to the Chenghuang Miao area. Once you step into the Fu You Men Commodity Market (福佑门小商品市场), you are greeted by a warm, lively atmosphere. Some stalls (货摊) are decorated with lanterns and Chinese knots. Others are busy s__86__ fun fridge magnets (冰箱贴), lovely bag charms (包饰) and cute toys featuring the horse — the zodiac animal for this Chinese New Year. But one of the most popular products (产品) this year took off for a special r__87__: its crying face.
The “crying horse” toy first appeared in a shop in Yiwu, Zhejiang. Like many other horse toys, it has short legs, a golden bell a__88__ its neck and words on its side that reads, “Wishing you immediate wealth.” What makes it special is a sewing error (缝纫错误): S__89__ is wrong with its mouth, which is upside down and turns a smile into a sad expression (表情). Surprisingly, many people love the “crying horse,” finding it more relatable.
“When things don’t go well, seeing its expression makes me feel better,” said Ms. Zhu, a young woman in Tianjin. “It feels like I’m not the only one in trouble.”
The “crying horse” is not a__90__ in offering emotional comfort (情绪价值) and winning hearts, though. Another gift product is “Ma Biaobiao,” or the “messy little horse,” from the Shandong Art Museum. It stands out for its loose and carefree hairstyle. D__91__ from the “crying horse,” “Ma Biaobiao” is inspired (赋予灵感) by a horse painting by Chinese artist Qi Baishi. Its design is no accident. Many people compare (把……比作) themselves to it when hurrying to work in the morning without time to brush their hair. Besides the world of h__92__, fans of the popular Labubu dolls have similar ideas too. They buy these little dolls partly because of their so-called “ugly cuteness.”
It may seem strange that imperfect (不完美的) products are becoming so popular, but this mirrors our true selves. Like Labubu, many of us are b__93__ imperfect, with ugly teeth or small eyes. And in e__94__ life, nobody can be happy, tidy or patient all the time. But it’s only human to be “imperfect” and sometimes to be angry.
In some ways, these imperfect products may make us think about the v__95__ of being different. In a competitive world, it does you no good to always play it safe. For your next art project or piece of writing, why not take a small risk and let your creative side shine
