“Why did she spill the beans ” I thought regretfully. I’ll always remember that day, when I was so surprised by all the strange looks everyone was giving me. Those thoughts will always stay with me. And I couldn’t believe I would lose the friendship of the person I trusted the most.
Five years back, Sally was the new kid in class. I don’t know what it was, but something unique about her drew me to her. She was the most friendly person I knew. We started as classmates, but after a few months, we were like best friends. So, I never expected her to hurt me in such a big way.
I don’t know what made me tell Sally about my personal life. She made the matter bigger than it was, adding her own spin (倾向性描述) on it and telling everyone at school. It was like someone had stabbed me in the back. After she gave away my secrets, everyone at school started laughing at me whenever I passed by. After this terrible situation, I changed schools. Sally called me many times, but I didn’t answer. My heart was broken.
I tried hard to heal from the scars she left on my heart. I started a new life. After five years, my life went back to the way it was, with new friends. But one day, I met Anna at the market. She was my classmate from 3rd grade. She told me that Sally wasn’t the one who brought my secrets to light. Mary was our school’s big mouth who always wanted to stick her nose into other people’s business.
I was all at sea (不知所措). I wished I could have asked Sally about this. I wished I could go back in time and fix my mistakes. From that, I learned a life lesson that we should trust those we love because one little mistake could really damage (破坏) our lives.

My sister Alli and I have been trying to get people to stop dropping cigarette butts (烟蒂) for seven years.
One day, we were walking in our hometown and saw hundreds of cigarette butts on the ground. 36 They made the town look so ugly that we decided to start a group to make people stop dropping butts. We called it “No Butts About It!”
At first, we drew pictures with “The Earth Is Not Your Ashtray (烟灰缸)” written on them. We put the pictures around our hometown — in parks, by beaches, and along roads. We wanted to make people understand that dropping butts does harm to the environment. Most smokers don’t think that dropping butts harms the earth. 37 Later, we wrote to companies and asked them for money to help us. We used the money to buy ashtrays to give smokers.
We wanted smokers to carry the ashtrays with them so they didn’t have to drop butts. At the moment, we are trying to get cigarette companies to put an ashtray in each pack of cigarettes. 38 Many people have started to join our group since it began. 39 And there are even groups in England, Australia and India!
Many newspapers have written about my sister and I over the last seven years. And we have won many prizes for our good work. 40 We just want to make the earth a better and cleaner place for animals, plants and people. One day it will be.

Some Changes in My Life
How time flies! It has been two years since I entered the middle school. I find
that there have been two main changes in my life during the past two years.
First of all, I have become better at dealing with others. It used to be difficult for
me to make new friends. Then I found out the reasons. Now, I have a lot of friends.
Besides, I’ve become much more confident. I once worried about my lessons, but
with my teachers’ and classmates’ help, I now do well in all subjects.
I like these changes because they make my life better.
