Good news for primary and middle school students: You may
get more holidays! This year, for the first time, the Government
Work Report mentions a new policy(政策) — “spring and autumn
holidays for primary and middle school students.” It encourages
schools to offer these breaks based on their needs.
“Spring and autumn holidays will give students more time to
rest during the term and more time to enjoy our beautiful country,"
Gao Jinfeng, a headmaster of a school in Jiangsu province, told China Education Daily.
To help make the break successful, other ways may also be introduced. For example,
parents may enjoy more paid leave so they can spend time with their children during these
holidays. Places such as museums and science centers may also open to students for free,
letting them take part in more social and educational activities.
Some places have already started piloting the policy. In 2025, students in Zhejiang
province began enjoying spring and autumn breaks. Later, several cities in Jiangsu, Sichuan,
Guangdong and Hubei also introduced the policy. Most areas schedule the spring break
around Tomb Sweeping Day and the autumn break in November, usually close to a
weekend.
With government’s support, more students may soon have more time to relax and
enjoy nature at its best.
24. According to Gao Jinfeng, what good things will spring and autumn holidays bring
A. Students can relax and enjoy the country's beauty.
B. Teachers can have more time to rest.
C. Students can get ready for society earlier.
25. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about
A. Things students can do during the holidays.
B. Parents’ roles during the holidays.
C. Other ways to help the new holidays work well.
26. What might the underlined word “piloting" mean in Paragraph 4

On April 19, 2026, an amazing event was held in Beijing — the
Half Marathon. What made this year’s marathon special was that
humanoid robots joined in it. More than 100 teams took part in the
race. They wanted to know if robots could run faster than humans.
The race started at 7:00 a.m., and everyone there felt very excited.
There were two kinds of teams in the race. One kind was
controlled by people far away, and the other could move by
themselves. To make the race fair, the organizers used different
“weighted coefficients(加权系数)” to get the final scores. Because the
robots that moved by themselves had to find the right way alone, their
task was harder. So their scores were multiplied(乘 ) by 1.2, but the teams controlled by
people far away got scores multiplied by 1.0. This rule helped the smartest robots get the
praise they deserved.
The most famous robot in the race was called “Lightning”. It was made by Honor
Company. Lightning ran much faster than most other robots. It took the lead at the
beginning and maintained the first place all the way. However, a small accident happened
near the end: Lightning hit a barricade(路障) and fell down. Luckily, the workers fixed it
quickly. Lightning stood up again, went on running, and finally crossed the finish line.
Surprisingly, Lightning finished the race in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. It broke the human
world record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds.
Last year, robots could only finish some easy tasks. After one year of hard work in
research and improvement, robots have become much faster and stronger. This race shows
that technology is developing quickly and the future of technology is already around us.
28. What made the 2026 Beijing Half Marathon special
A. It started at 7:30 a.m.
B. Humanoid robots joined in it.
C. Over 100 teams took part in it.
29. Why did the organizers use different weighted coefficients
A. To make the race fair for all teams.
B. To help human-controlled teams win.
C. To make the race more difficult.
30. Which of the following is true according to the passage
A. The robots in the marathon were all controlled by people.
B. The self-moving robots’ scores were multiplied by 1.2.
C. Lightning didn’t break any world record.
31. What can we infer from the passage
A. Robots will win humans in all races.
B. Technology is developing faster than before.
C. Lightning didn’t have any difficulties in the race.
