Character traits are about what a person or character is like inside. We can learn about a character’s traits through his/her actions or words.

One day, a fox invited a stork to his home for dinner. The fox served the soup in a small dish. While the fox enjoyed the delicious soup, the stork couldn’t eat anything because of his long beak. Feeling hungry and angry, the stork left for home.
A few days later, the stork decided to invite the fox to his home for dinner. The stork served delicious meat in a jar with a long neck. The fox’s small mouth prevented him from eating anything, while the stork enjoyed the meal easily by using his long beak. This time, the fox returned home, hungry and angry.

I want to understand the moral or lesson that the story is trying to teach.
I can use strategies like analyzing the characters’ actions and their consequences, and looking for cause-and-effect relationships in the story.
Analyzing the characters’ actions helps me see that the fox and the stork both acted selfishly, and the cause-and-effect relationships show that the fox’s unkind behavior led to him being treated the same way. These strategies help me realize the story might be teaching us to treat others as we want to be treated.
