Imagine you’re floating down a calm river in a boat. The water is peaceful, and you feel balanced and happy. You understand yourself and get along with others. You can go with the flow when things change. This is what scientists call the “river of happiness”. When you’re in this river, you’re healthy and feeling good.
But this river has two dangerous banks (岸). If you hit the bank of chaos, you’ll feel out of control. You might scream, cry or act without thinking. Nothing feels right.
If you went too close to the other side, you hit the bank of rigidity. Here, everything is stuck. You refuse to change or listen to others. You need to control everything and everyone around you. The water is dirty and smelly because nothing can move freely.
We all move between these two banks sometimes. The goal is to spend as much time as possible in the peaceful flow between them.
This doesn’t just happen to adults—kids have their own boats too! Many parenting challenges happen when children leave the flow and hit one of the banks.
For example, think about a three-year-old at the park. When he refuses to share his toy boat with a new friend, that’s rigidity. But when his friend takes the boat anyway, he blows up—screaming, crying, and throwing sand—that’s chaos. His negative feelings have completely taken over.
Older kids do this too. Imagine a fifth-grader who loses the lead role in a school play. She might cry (chaos) while insisting she has the best acting skill in the whole grade (rigidity). She’s moving between both banks!
When you see chaos or rigidity in yourself or your kids, it means someone’s brain isn’t working in a balanced way. The good news is that once you notice which bank they are moving toward, you can help guide them back into the calm flow of happiness.
26.How does the writer start the passage
A.By listing some numbers. B.By comparing two things.
C.By building a picture in mind. D.By giving some suggestions.
27.In the three pictures, _____ shows being on the bank of “chaos”, and _____ shows “rigidity”.
A.③① B.③② C.①③ D.①②
28.What can be inferred from paragraph 6-7
A.Only kids can have negative feelings. B.Playing a lead role can bring kids chaos.
C.Parents should keep kids away from rivers. D.One can experience both chaos and rigidity.
29.What’s the best title for the article
A.A New Way to Live a Successful Life B.The Two Banks: Which One Is Better in Life
C.The River of Happiness: Finding the Balance D.Understanding Your Kid’s Impolite Behaviors

The basic aerodynamics used to make a paper airplane is very similar to the aerodynamics of a real plane.
A simple piece of paper will fall down when it is dropped. But if we fold the paper in a specific manner, it will fly. There are four types of forces in physics that play important roles in making a paper airplane soar in the air.
Surely lift is a force that holds the airplane in the air. It acts directly against the weight of the airplane. Though the whole plane uses this force, the wings are the ones that bring it to the maximum level. Both the upper and lower surfaces of the wings are responsible for turning the flow of air.
Thrust is the forward force that is used to push the airplane in the forward direction. It comes from the engines of a real aircraft, but for a paper airplane, the human hand artificially produces this force while throwing the plane hard into air.
Drag, also known as air resistance, is a force to prevent an object moving in gas or liquid. This force stops the movement of the aircraft in air. It occurs due to the surface friction between the solid surface of the airplane and air molecules. This too acts through the center of pressure of the object.
Another force is gravity acting on the airplane and continually trying to pull it down towards the earth. A real aircraft makes use of many lift, drag, and thrust forces against the gravitational force. In case of a paper airplane, when we fly it in the air with some energy, it uses that energy to stay in air for some time. As the energy goes on reducing, the plane moves downwards. As a result, the airplane fails to remain in the sky when all the energy is exhausted.
The wetness of the air also has a great effect on the flight of a paper airplane. As paper takes in water, it changes the density of the airplane finally. So making the airplane out of a thick piece of paper proves to be more effective.
A real plane has additional parts used for efficient flying. To some degree, the weight of the passengers and luggage affect the above types of forces. Therefore, next time you make a paper airplane, keep in mind these points to make one that has a long-lasting flight.
30.The force of lift is used by ________ to hold the airplane in the air.
A.only the wings B.the engines C.both the surfaces D.the whole plane
31.Which is the right chart showing the four types of forces
A.B.C. D.
32.The underlined word “exhausted” in Paragraph 6 most probably means “________”.
A.used up completely B.filled up immediately
C.pushed forward heavily D.acted on the plane strongly
33.According to the passage, which of the following statements is TRUE
A.A real aircraft can only make use of one or two types of the forces mentioned.
B.The paper plane made out of thick paper is unable to have a long-lasting flight.
C.Aerodynamics studies the movements of the air and the moving object in the air.
D.Compared with sunny days, the paper plane can fly much farther when it is wet.

How can you change a chemical reaction
Soon after an apple is cut, a chemical reaction takes place. Oxygen in the air turns the apple brown, just like iron turns to rust (锈). Can you prevent this reaction
Steps
(1)Label three plates A, B, and C. Place one piece of apple on each plate. Put one toothpick upright in each piece.
(2) Holding the toothpick, put the whole apple piece from plate A into lemon juice. Then place the piece back on the plate. Be careful to protect your eyes when using lemon juice. Put the piece from plate B in water. Put it back on the plate. Leave the piece on plate C alone.
(3) After 10 minutes, take a close look at each apple piece. Record your observations (观察).
Conclusions
An apple turns brown soon after you cut it because oxygen in the air reacts with the apple. Lemon juice can help keep the apple fresh. It has something that slows down this process. Water, however, does not have this effect.
34.How many pieces of apple turn brown
A.Zero. B.One. C.Two. D.Three.
35.Why do we need plate C in this experiment
A.To make the experiment take more time.
B.To act as a comparison with no treatment.
C.To see if lemon juice works better than water.
D.To prove that water can stop the apple turning brown.
36.What do the results of this experiment show
A.Water stops apples turning brown. B.Lemon juice speeds up browning.
C.Lemon juice slows down oxidation. D.Air makes no difference to the apple.

Mingyue Village welcomes 25 foreign students of the 2025 “Sing and learn Chinese—Singing in Chengdu” Study Tour.
The village is situated in Pujiang, and regarded as one of the “Top Ten Model Villages” for high-quality rural industrial development. The village has over 5,000,000 m2 of Lei bamboo and 2,000,000 m2 of tea plants. Visitors can have a view of natural beauty and take part in activities such as picking tea leaves.
Here, the fascination lies not only in its clear waters and green mountains, but also its intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产).
On arrival, foreign students from 18 different countries excitedly follow local artists to experience reed weaving (草编). An artist introduces a local reed (Pu Cao), from which Pujiang takes its name.
“Very interesting! I’ve gradually learned a lot of things about Chinese culture through experiences like this. I’ll take them back to my country to show my friends,” says Bayasta from Kyrgyzstan.
Then a local artist instructs them in tie-dyeing. The dye (染料) is made from banlangen leaves. Banlangen is used not only for medical purposes, but also as a natural dye. She tells students if reed weaving “turns grass into treasures,” tie-dyeing “turns leaves into gold.”
Zhou Yuchen, an American student, says, “Tie-dye dates back over 2,000 years in China and was spread along the Silk Road. This craft caught Western attention and became fashionable as a symbol of peace and freedom during the 1960s. Many U.S. schools introduce tie-dye in art classes. Students love its hands-on process and surprising results.”
The foreign youth experience the intangible cultural heritage of the Chinese countryside and feel the energy that green development brings to the ancient village. Clear waters and green mountains are valuable treasures.
51.What does the name of Pujiang come from
52.How does Bayasta like reed weaving
53.When did tie-dye become fashionable in the West
54.Why does the local artist think tie-dyeing “turns leaves into gold”
55.Do you agree with the idea of green development in Mingyue Village Why or why not

Mingyue Village’s green development concept perfectly integrates ecological protection, intangible cultural heritage inheritance, and rural economic development. On one hand, it preserves its natural beauty such as Lei bamboos, tea plants, clear waters and green mountains. On the other hand, it uses these ecological resources and intangible cultural heritage like reed weaving and tie-dyeing to develop cultural tourism, bringing economic benefits to the village and providing a platform for cultural exchanges. This practice truly implements the concept that “clear waters and green mountains are valuable treasures”, realizing sustainable development that benefits both the local environment and the villagers’ lives.
