Last July, my old car died on a freeway. It was an hour before sunset, and I was 25 miles away from home. I decided to take a bus. Not knowing the routes, I thought I’d just go ahead for the east.
A bus pulled up before me, and I asked the driver how far she was going. “Four more lights,” she said. There was another bus I could take from there. This clearly was going to be a long night.
At the end of her route, she dropped me off and told me which bus to look for. After waiting 30 minutes, I began to think about a very expensive taxi ride home. Then a bus pulled up. There was no lighted number above its windshield (挡风玻璃). It was out of service. But the door opened, and I was surprised to find that it was the same driver.
“I just can’t leave you here,” she said. “This isn’t the nicest place. I’ll give you a ride home.”
“You’ll drive me home in the bus ” I asked surprisingly.
“No, I’ll take you in my car,” she said.
“It’s a long way,” I protested.
“Come on,” she said. “I have nothing else to do.” From the station in her car, she began telling me a story as she drove. A few days earlier, her brother had run out of gas. A good Samaritan picked him up, took him to a service station and then back to his car. “I’m just passing the favor along,” she said.
In front of my house when I offered her money as a thank-you, she wouldn’t hear of it. “That wouldn’t make it a favor,” she said. “Just do something nice for somebody. Pass it along.”

The Yingge dance, also named “Dance of the Heroes”, has a history dating back to the Ming Dynasty. It is a folk art form that mixes opera, dance and martial arts (武术). It is quite popular in Guangdong Province in south China and Puning is home to over 100 Yingge teams. In 2006, Puning Yingge dance was listed as part of China’s national intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产).
The Yingge dance usually gets inspiration from The Water Margin, one of China’s Four Great Classical Novels. During major festivals, the sound of Yingge drums fills cities and villages. The dancers wear colorful traditional costumes, put on beautiful facial makeup (化妆) and dance joyfully. When watching the dance, people can always feel the spirit of fighting for the good besides a lively air with energy and youth.
Typically, in the Yingge dance, the lead dancer acts like a snake as the snake means being flexible (灵活的) and wise, which gives the dance deep cultural importance. Holding a cloth snake, the lead dancer copies the snake’s movements. When he makes his way through the dance team, he also guides the team’s direction. His fine steps and skillful movements make him the focus of the performance.
During performances, dancers hold the Yingge sticks at their mid-points, waving them and forming the shape of number 8. At the same time, their fingers create continuous movements. Moreover, each dancer jumps sideways and hits the sticks to the drum beats as if they are riding a horse. Their heads and bodies move naturally to the beat too.
Traditionally, only adult men could join the Yingge teams. Today, the Yingge dance has greeted both men and women. Also, modern dance is added while the most important part of traditional dance is kept, which suits the taste of people today.

After a 10-year project to count tuna and other large fish in the world's oceans, scientists have made a very surprising discovery: these fish are almost gone. Because of too much fishing, almost 90 percent of the worldwide population of large fish—the ones we usually eat—has disappeared. If we don’t act, these animals will totally disappear. That will influence every animal in the ocean.
The demand for fish is growing. Almost a billion people around the world get their protein (蛋白质) mostly from fish. Doctors praise seafood for being low in fat. But what seems like a healthy choice for humans is causing a disaster to our oceans. “People are consuming (消费) too much,” says Lance Morgan, a scientist at the Marine Conservation Biology Institute.
A dish of tuna in restaurants costs more than just one animal's life. When fish like tuna disappear from the ecosystem (生态系统), the ocean’s food chain (链) breaks down. Animals such as sharks, which normally eat tuna, may die because they find no food.
The news may be scary, but taking action from now on can prevent harm that hasn’t happened yet. World organizations are ordering countries to stop fishing too much. The Monterey Bay Aquarium gives seafood choices to anyone hoping to keep healthy without destroying the environment.
“If you care about wildlife, first spend time and think about your own values and beliefs,” says Morgan. “Then decide what you’re going to eat.”
31. How does the writer start the text
A. By giving a fact. B. By asking a question.
C. By telling a story. D. By using a saying.
32. What does the underlined word “demand” in Paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Wish. B. Support. C. Need. D. Price.
33. From Paragraph 3, we know that ________.
A. if sharks die out, tuna will die out soon B. tuna will be more popular in restaurants
C. tuna plays an important role in the ecosystem D. tuna disappeared because they found no food
34. What’s the purpose of the text
A. To tell people to stop polluting our oceans. B. To tell people to protect wildlife in oceans.
C. To tell people to avoid eating too much seafood. D. To tell people to live a balanced and healthy life.
35. What does the last paragraph of the article explain ________.
A. We need to care about wildlife B. We need to eat wild animals
C. We need to reflect on our own values and beliefs D. We don’t want to protect wild animals

以下是关于中国动画的介绍,阅读短文,根据问题提示提取关键信息,回答问题。每个回答不超过5个词。
In recent years, Chinese animated films have stepped onto the international stage and won more and more love from foreign audiences, breaking the stereotype (刻板印象) that only Western animation has global influence. Unlike the early Chinese animated works that only spread in a small scope, modern Chinese animation combines traditional Chinese culture with international creative ideas, making it easier for foreign viewers to understand and accept works like Ne Zha: Birth of the Demon Child and The Monkey King: Hero Is Back have been translated into more than 30 languages and shown in over 100 countries and regions. These films take classic Chinese stories as the core (核心), and use advanced 3D technology to create stunning visual effects, leaving a deep impression on foreign audiences.
To make Chinese animation more popular overseas, many production teams have made subtle (细微的) adjustments to the plots and dialogues without changing the cultural core, such as simplifying some complex traditional cultural terms and adding brief explanations. In addition, Chinese animation companies also cooperate with foreign film distributors to hold roadshows and fan meetings in different countries, helping foreign audiences better understand the cultural connotations (内涵) behind the works. Many foreign viewers say that Chinese animation lets them see the beauty of Chinese culture and learn more about Chinese myths and folk tales. The overseas spread of Chinese animation is not only a display of Chinese creative ability, but also a good way to spread Chinese culture and build cultural communication bridges between China and the world.
