A Rainstorm’s Lesson
Last month, a sudden rainstorm hit our neighborhood on a weekday afternoon. At that time, most students were on their way home from school, and many parents were waiting for their children at the school gate. The sky turned dark in a few minutes, and the wind started to blow strongly, making it hard for people to walk.
Li Ming, a Grade 8 student, was walking home with his classmate Wang Tao when the rain started to fall heavily. They had to run to a nearby convenience store to hide. While they were waiting, they saw an old man standing under a tree, trying to hold his umbrella. The wind was so strong that his umbrella was blown away, and he almost fell down.
Li Ming and Wang Tao decided to help the old man. They ran over to him and helped him stand steadily. They took the old man into the convenience store and gave him a cup of hot water. The old man thanked them warmly and said he was on his way to pick up his granddaughter from school.
