When I was a little girl, I often stayed with my grandmother in summer. My grandmother was very kind and she loved butterflies. She would tell me many stories about butterflies.
One day, when I was seven years old, I gave my grandmother a small box as a birthday gift. She opened it and found a beautiful butterfly inside. She was very surprised and happy. She looked at the butterfly carefully and let it fly out of the box. The butterfly flew around the room and then flew out of the window.
From then on, every time when the butterflies came, my grandmother would tell me that it was my butterfly coming to see her. She always kept a small net in her room. She never caught any butterflies, but she liked to watch them fly around the flowers.
Last year, my grandmother passed away. I felt very sad. On my birthday this year, a beautiful butterfly flew into my room and circle around me through the window. It flew around me for a long time and then flew away. I knew it was my grandmother saying “I love you” to me.
Now I still love butterflies. Every time I see a butterfly, I will think of my grandmother and the happy time we spent together. I believe the butterfly is a symbol of love. It carries my grandmother’s love to me and will stay with me forever.

Now we live in a digital age. Most of us spend a lot of time on the Internet. We look for information, chat with friends and watch videos every day. ① We leave behind a lot of “digital footprints” every time we click or share something online. These footprints can show what we like, what we care about and even who we are.
In the old days, people sat around the campfire and shared stories. They talked about different ideas and learned from each other. ② Today, we share our ideas online, but we often stay in our “information cocoon”. We only read the news we agree with and follow the people we like. We seldom see different ideas.
This makes our world smaller. ③ We can’t learn new things or understand different people well. We may even have arguments with others easily.
The Internet is helpful, but we should use it wisely. We need to go out of our comfort zone and try to see different ideas. ④ We should think carefully before we believe or share something. Only in this way can we have a better digital life.
54. Why does the writer talk about “ancient campfire” in Paragraph 2
A. To encourage people to spend more free time outdoors.
B. To show that people also like sharing similar ideas in groups.

Dear Mike,
I’m glad to know you are so interested in China.
My hometown is famous for many forms of folk art besides shadow puppets and sugar paintings. Paper-cutting is very popular here. People use scissors to cut beautiful patterns on red paper, which are often used to decorate windows during festivals. To keep these arts alive, many schools have folk art classes, and artists hold workshops in communities. Also, more young people are sharing these arts online to introduce them to the world. I hope you can come to China one day and experience them yourself!
All the best,
Li Ming
