Long ago, there was a kind and honest woodcutter.
One day, when he was cutting wood beside a lake, he lost his axe in the water. The water was deep, and he could not get his axe back. He had only one axe, and he needed it to make a living. He sat down and began to cry. As he cried, a fairy appeared. She asked the man what was wrong.
She listened to the woodcutter and felt sorry for him. But what could she do to help Suddenly, she came up with a great idea. The fairy jumped into the lake and brought back a golden axe.
“Is this the axe you lost ” asked the good fairy. The man looked at the golden axe and shook his head. He told the fairy it wasn’t his. The fairy jumped into the water again and brought back a silver axe. Once again, the man said that it wasn’t his.
The fairy went down a third time and returned with the woodcutter’s old axe. “That’s the right one!” said the woodcutter.
The fairy was so happy with the woodcutter’s honesty that she gave him the other two axes as a present.
Honesty truly is the best policy.

Beginning
One day, a hare and a tortoise decided to have a race.
Development
The hare ran fast. He laughed at the slow tortoise and thought he would win easily. Then he decided to have a rest under a tree and soon fell asleep.

The tortoise kept walking slowly but steadily. When the hare woke up, the tortoise was already far ahead. He tried to catch up, but it was too late.
