One day, when a young king went out to hunt deer, he carelessly became separated from others. Wandering
around, the king saw a farmhouse that was surrounded by a garden, and inside the garden was a young woman.
The king spoke to her: "Tell me, what plants are you growing here " "I am raising pumpkins," she replied, "as
you can see." She had a quick glance at the pile of pumpkins behind her and gave a quick smile to the king. He
couldn't help but smile back.
As the king returned to the city, a thought began to grow in his mind. "Perhaps, I might think up a test
to see just how smart this young woman might be." he thought.
The king then ordered a soldier to carry a new jar without handles to the young woman's house. The soldier
told the young woman that the jar was from the king and she should put a whole enough big pumpkin inside the jar
with a small opening at the top. And the soldier also said that the king wanted the jar and the pumpkin must remain
whole.
The young woman returned a message to the king that such a task might take a long time. In fact, it was several
months before the young woman arrived at the palace. In her hands she held the same jar, and sure enough, a whole
pumpkin sat inside it. The king was amazed that he had no idea how she could have brought this about!
Here was her answer to the king: She had placed a pumpkin bud (花蕾), which was still connected to a vine
(藤蔓) in the ground, inside the jar through its small opening. As time flies, the pumpkin bud grew into a full -
sized pumpkin.

①Life is full of moments, but some are "special" and stay in our hearts forever. For example, the first time you
rode a bike alone, a friend's hug when you were sad, or in the evening talking with family. These moments aren't
always big, but they change how we feel about ourselves and the world.
②Special moments are like treasures. We don't need to write them down—our hearts remember them. A
teacher might praise a shy student's drawing, making the child feel important. A parent could bake cookies with
you on a rainy day, filling the kitchen with laughter. Even strangers can create them: a barista who knows your
coffee order, or a neighbor who helps carry groceries. These small acts stay in our minds because they make us feel
loved.
③Businesses also use special moments. A café might play soft music and serve warm cookies on cold days to
make customers feel welcome. A bookstore could hold story time for kids every weekend, turning a
visit into a happy memory. An ice-cream shop lets customers decorate their own cones (冰激凌蛋筒)—seeing
a child smile while adding something is a moment everyone remembers.
④In the end, special moments are everywhere. They don't need money or planning—just a little care. A kind
word, a smile, or a small surprise can make life richer. So take time to enjoy these moments—they make life worth
living.
16. Which of the following is NOT mentioned as a special moment in Paragraph①
A. The first time you rode a bike alone.
B. A friend's hug when you were sad.
C. Winning an important game.

18. What does the ice-cream shop probably do according to the passage
A. Sells the cheapest ice-cream. B. Closes early on weekends.
C. Refuses to let kids enter. D. Creates ice-cream moments for guests.
19. Which is the structure of this passage
20. What is the passage mainly about
A. What special moments are all about.
B. Why people forget small moments.
C. When to plan big and exciting events.
D. Where to find the most expensive treasures.

Zhang Xuefeng, a prominent Chinese postgraduate entrance examination tutor known for his high-energy
lectures and motivational style, died of sudden cardiac arrest(心搏骤停 ) on March 24, after collapsing while
running in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. He was 41.
Zhang had reportedly finished 72 kilometers of running this month. His death highlights how even physically
active individuals can remain vulnerable(脆 弱 的 ) to hidden cardiovascular(心 血 管 的 ) risks. Specialists
recommend that those experiencing unusual fatigue(疲乏) or breathlessness during exercise seek medical attention
immediately.
Doctors say the body often sends warning signals before a deadly event. A study in the Annals of Internal
Medicine found that more than half of patients experience symptoms(症状 ) within the 24 hours preceding the
event, such as chest pain or extreme fatigue. "These symptoms are often the body's last warning," said Zhang Ling,
an internist at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing. "But many people dismiss them as simple fatigue."
Zhang noted that lifestyle changes linked to China's rapid economic development — including diets high in
processed food, long working hours, and long - term lack of sleep — have increased cardiovascular burden. She
cautioned that intense exercise can be dangerous when the body is already severely fatigued.
"Heart disease is no longer just an elderly person's problem," said Zhou Dongchen, a physician at the First
Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. "We are seeing a clear shift toward younger age
groups, particularly middle - aged men."
Because over 90 percent of sudden cardiac deaths occur outside of hospitals, Zhang Ling emphasized the
necessity of emergency preparedness. "In cardiac arrest, the first few minutes are critical," she said. "Immediate
CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator(AED) can make the difference between life and death."
21. Why does the writer mention Zhang Xuefeng's case at the beginning
A. To broaden the readers' horizons B. To make a comparison
C. To stress the writer's opinion D. To give an example
22. What do specialists advise people to do if they feel unusual fatigue during exercise
A. Keep exercising B. Ask for medical help at once
C. Drink more water D. Have a short sleep
23. What does the underlined word "dismiss" probably mean
A. fire B. ignore C. refuse D. discharge
24. Which of the following is NOT mentioned to increase cardiovascular burden
A. Diets high in processed food B. Long working hours
C. Long - term lack of sleep D. Doing too much light exercise
25. Which of the following proverbs best reflects the main message of the article
A. "No pain, no gain."
B. "A warning is better than punishment."
C. "You can't judge a book by its cover."
D. "Health is not valued till sickness comes."

IV.书面表达(满分 15分)
To protect our eyesight, our school has launched a two - week campaign named "Bright Vision, Bright Future".
Now I'd like to introduce the details of this campaign. First of all, we are required to take at least 2 hours of
outdoor sports every day, which helps relax our eye muscles. Besides, we have a 15 - minute break between classes
to rest our eyes from longtime learning. What's more, we need to do eye exercises twice a day strictly as required,
which is very helpful to relieve eye fatigue.
As we all know, good eyesight is of great importance to our daily life and study. It not only helps us learn
better but also supports us to do various activities freely. Here I also have some suggestions for daily eye
protection. First, we should reduce the time of using electronic products. Don't stare at the screen for too long, and
take a rest every 20 minutes when using them. Second, keep a correct posture when reading and writing, and make
sure we have enough light in the environment. Third, do more outdoor activities in our spare time, and enjoy more
natural light. Finally, have regular eye examinations to check our eyesight condition in time.
I hope all of us can attach great importance to eye protection, follow the rules of the campaign and form good eye -
using habits. Only in this way can we keep our eyes healthy and have a bright future.
