I was never very neat, while my roommate Kate was extremely organized. Each of her objects had its place, but mine always hid somewhere. She even labeled (贴标签) everything. I always looked for everything. Over time, Kate got neater and I got messier. She would push my dirty clothing over, and I would lay my books on her tidy desk. We both got tired of each other.
War broke out one evening. Kate came into the room. Soon, I heard her screaming, “Take your shoes away! Why under my bed!” Deafened, I saw my shoes flying at me. I jumped to my feet and started yelling. She yelled back louder.
The room was filled with anger. We could not have stayed together for a single minute but for a phone call. Kate answered it. From her end of the conversation, I could tell right away her grandma was seriously ill. When she hung up, she quickly crawled (爬) under her covers, sobbing. Obviously, that was something she should not go through alone. All of a sudden, a warm feeling of sympathy rose up in my heart.
Slowly, I collected the pencils, took back the books, made my bed, cleaned the socks and swept the floor, even on her side. I got so into my work that I even didn’t notice Kate had sat up. She was watching, her tears dried and her expression one of disbelief. Then, she reached out her hands to grasp mine. I looked up into her eyes. She smiled at me, “Thanks. ”
Kate and I stayed roommates for the rest of the year. We didn’t always agree, but we learned the key to living together: giving in, cleaning up and holding on.

When I was young, I loved paper cutting and I was pretty good at it. As I grew up, I became busy and didn’t have much time for it. Later, I stopped doing it.
However, the news I came across online touched my heart and changed my mind. A little girl from Jieyang, Guangdong was practicing lion dance when a professional lion dance performance team (专业舞狮表演队) passed by. As soon as they saw the girl practicing, they started to beat drums and gongs for her and quickly she did a lion dance in return. People around all cheered for her. Her love for the ancient Chinese culture evoked my strong memories of paper cutting.
I remembered the happy times of making paper cuttings with my teacher and friends in the club. When I was ten, I joined the paper cutting club. Every Monday and Friday, I learned to make paper cuttings there. Our teacher, Ms. Li, was very talented. With a pair of scissors and a piece of paper, she could create lively works (作品). Every time we held a paper cutting show, our works attracted many visitors. The girl in the news encouraged me to go on with paper cutting. I want to be an inheritor (继承者) of the ancient Chinese culture. Together with other inheritors, I hope to pass down our excellent culture.

Swimmers are tidy and make the best lovers while cyclists vote Liberal Democrat. What your favorite sport says about you Unless your name is Rebecca Adlington, Victoria Pendleton or Mo Farah, sport is probably nothing more than an enjoyable hobby.
Now a new study has revealed that your choice of sport says more about you than you could possibly have imagined. According to researchers, cyclists are more likely to be emotionally stable, runners the most outgoing and swimmers the happiest, while walkers are the least materialistic.
The psychological study, which was carried out by experts from Mind Lab, also revealed that sport can also offer clues to a person’s attitude to charity, reading habits and even their voting intentions. Cyclists, for example, are most likely to vote Liberal Democrat and tend to be calm in front of material possessions. Meanwhile runners tend to be Labour-voting outgoing people who love being the centre of attention. Those who swim tend to make the best lovers, are tidy and are also the most charitable, although according to Mind Lab, 61 percent of adults are fond of charity regardless of their choice of sport. Walkers, a group that includes those who enjoy wandering, cross-country races and hiking, are least concerned about material possessions and like being alone.
“It has long been known that exercise is not only good for your body, but also your mind,” says psychologist Dr David Lewis. “Past research has shown that exercising can be used to treat and possibly even prevent anxiety and generally has a positive effect on mental health. The results from this study show that no matter what kind of person you are, there is the right kind of exercise for you,” Dr David Lewis adds.

( )34.Which word can best describe the character of swimmers
A.Humorous. B.Pessimistic. C.Open-minded. D.Warm-hearted.
( )35.In the last paragraph, Dr David Lewis makes the point that ________.
A.it’s better to choose sports that suit you well
B.bad feelings can be got rid of by doing exercise
C.there’s no doubt that sports can keep you healthy
D.exercise benefits you both physically and mentally

Lately, I was deeply touched with two movies about faithful dogs:A Dog's Purpose and A Dog's Way Home. A dog's life cycled and cycled only to meet his first owner while the other covered 400 miles of toil and hunger all the way back to her home. I had a faithful dog too when I was a little girl, but it was a different story.
When my dad first took him home in a cardboard box, he was so quiet that I even doubted whether there was really a dog in it. When I peeped through two small holes on the side, I just saw a patch of grey fur. My dad assured me that it was just a small dog before I dared to open the box. There he was! What a lovely grey dog! He was slim and looked smart. I was on my knees as I cheerfully observed him. However, he tried to avoid eye contact with me, apparently a little scared with everything strange around. I wanted to pet his head but he only turned his head away.
When he became familiar with me, I called him Billy and he was really delighted, zagging his tail. Every time I left for school, he saw me off. When I came back, he ways waited on my way home and greeted me with his licks and brushed his head against legs. When Billy was in the kitchen with my father, lying on a small heap of firewood side the furnace (灶),he could always know which piece of firewood my dad would pick and raised his paw in time. It always surprised me how intelligent and considerate Billy I imagined him turning into a small boy carrying my schoolbag for me and talking my dad. With Billy brightening every day of my childhood, I was more than happy.

参考范文
But one day, Billy was seriously ill. I took him to the pet doctor. The doctor said it was nothing serious and prescribed medicine for him. After returning home, I began to take good care of him. He was so smart that every time I held him, he would look at me gratefully. But his cough got worse and worse, and gradually he could not eat. I was worried about him, but in the end he just left me. I had been sad for a long time, but not been able to find a dog that could replace him.
A few years later, I went to a dog's shelter to try my luck. When I went in, I found a gray dog that looked like Billy. As I looked at him, he tried to avoid eye contact with me, which was just like Billy. I was so happy that I decided to take him home. I gave him a bath and he began to grow closer to me. After that, I became more and more fond of him, and I could feel his closeness to me. I named him Coco. He is unique and I believe he will bring me a lot of happiness.
