This experience taught me that we should always 42 the people around us. A simple “What‘s wrong ” or “I’m here for you” can make a huge difference. Let‘s remember to take care of our minds 43 we take care of our bodies.

On 12 August 2024, a 20-year-old student from the UK had an accident. He was in Suzhou for a summer exchange programme at a university. He fell down. After that, he could hardly breathe and was unconscious (失去知觉的). Someone called 120 right away.
Yang Xiaoping works at Suzhou’s emergency centre. She got the call and quickly knew the student needed CPR (心肺复苏). Through an online first aid platform, Yang and another doctor taught a person who was there to do CPR on the student.
When the ambulance (救护车) came, the student was put on an electronic CPR machine on the way to the hospital. When they got to the hospital, the emergency team kept doing CPR for seven more minutes. Growing up is not just about getting taller or older; it’s about changing mentally and emotionally. It’s a journey that everyone must go through, and it’s full of ups and downs. During this journey, we learn to be independent, responsible and kind.
In our childhood, we are taken care of by our parents. They do everything for us and protect us from all dangers. But as we grow up, we need to learn to do things on our own. For example, we learn to dress ourselves, finish our homework independently and make our own choices. This process may be difficult at first, but it helps us become more independent and confident.
Growing up also means learning to face failure. No one can avoid failure in life. When we fail an exam, lose a game or make a mistake, we may feel sad and disappointed. But failure is not a bad thing; it’s a valuable lesson that teaches us to try harder and do better next time. It helps us grow stronger and more resilient.
Family and friends are important companions on our growing-up journey. Our parents give us love and support, and our friends share our joys and sorrows. They encourage us when we are in trouble and celebrate our progress with us. Their company makes the journey of growing up warmer and more meaningful.
In short, growing up is a precious journey. It teaches us important lessons, makes us better people and helps us understand the meaning of life. Let’s cherish every moment of growing up and embrace the changes it brings.

When we think of forests, we usually imagine trees standing still on dry land. But have you ever seen a forest that “walks” In the coastal (沿海的) areas of Fujian and other southern provinces, there is a special kind of forest called the mangrove (红树林). These trees seem to “walk” across the mud over time.
Mangroves are wonders of nature because they can live in salt water, where most other trees would die. Their most amazing feature is their root system. Instead of growing straight down, many mangrove roots grow up and out of the water, looking like legs or stilts (高跷). These “legs” help the tree breathe air even when the tide (潮汐) covers the ground. They also hold the tree firmly against strong waves and winds.
How do they “walk” As a mangrove tree grows older, its old roots may die and rot (腐烂) away. At the same time, new roots grow in the direction of the sea or along the coast. Over many years, this process makes the tree appear to move slowly from its original spot. In fact, the position of a single tree can shift (移动/偏移) several meters over a century!
Besides being amazing, mangroves are very useful. They act as a natural wall protecting villages from typhoons and storms. Their dense roots provide a safe home for fish, crabs, and birds. Many baby fish hide among the roots to avoid larger enemies.
However, these wonderful forests are in danger. Pollution and human activities have reduced their numbers. Luckily, Fujian Province has set up many nature reserves (保护区) to protect them. By planting more mangroves, we are not only saving the trees but also protecting our own homes from natural disasters.
68.Why are mangrove trees called “walking trees”
A.Because they can move their legs like animals.
B.Because they grow new roots and lose old ones, slowly changing their position.
C.Because the wind blows them from one place to another quickly.
D.Because people carry them to different spots every year.
69.What is the main function of the mangrove’s “stilt roots”
A.To make the tree look beautiful for tourists.
B.To help the tree get food from deep underground.
C.To help the tree breathe and stay stable in the water.
D.To stop fish from swimming near the tree.
70.The underlined word “dense” in Paragraph 4 probably means “________”.
A.thick and close together B.small and weak C.high and tall D.dry and hard

A.Mangroves can only grow on dry land.
B.Baby fish use mangrove roots as a hiding place.
C.Mangrove trees move several meters every day.
D.There are no mangrove forests in Fujian Province.
