On April 15th,our school held a series of activities with the theme of'National security starts with me"
In the morning,we attended a lecture on cyber security and ecological security.The speaker explained

meeting.We shared examples of how students can help keep our school and community safe.
These activities deeply impressed me.I used to think national security was only about soldiers and
borders.Now I realize it also includes information safety and environmental protection.As a student,I will

The next day during break,Asher saw the same kids pulling leaves just like be fore.This time,he didn't
walk away.His heart pounded,but Grandpa's words echoed in his mind:courage means doing what is right
even when you are afraid.Taking a shaky breath,Asher stepped forward."Hey,"he said,his voice barely
above a whisper."Please stop."The kids turned,surprised."Leaves help trees breathe,"Asher continued,
trying to sound calm."If you pull them all off,the tree could get sick and die."For a long moment,nobody
spoke.Then one boy dropped the leaf in his hand."Really he asked."I never thought about that."Asher
nodded,feeling a small wave of confidence."Instead of hurting it,"he suggested,"we could protect it
together."
The kids soon agreed to Ashers suggestion.They fetched cardboard and bright markers from the
classroom and made a large sign that read:"Protect Our Tree-It Gives Us Shade and Clean Air."Together
they tied it to the oak tree.Over the next few weeks,the group took turns watering the tree and picking up
litter around it.Asher no longer sat alone during break.He stood and laughed with his new friends under the
spreading branches.One afternoon,Grandpa came to pick him up and saw the sign.His eyes shone with
pride."You see,Asher "he said quietly."You took care of the tree,and the tree brought you friends."Asher
smiled,feeling the warm sun and an even warmer sense of belonging.He finally understood:when we take
