Let’s first look at the beginning of the story in the book and find some useful information.
OK! It's an example from Scene 1, and the story took place at the seashore.
This means the fisherman was fishing by the sea when he met the genie.
Let’s talk!
Let me check which characters we need: the narrator, the fisherman, and the genie was missed.
Right! And here we have each character’s words.
I noticed an important point.
Say it, please!
Look at the verbs! The narrator’s words are in the simple past tense, while the fisherman’s are in the simple present tense.
Wow, you’re so careful! So We need to pay attention to this when writing the dialogue later.
The beginning of the play is about a fisherman who caught a bottle in his fishing net. When he opened it, a genie came out! Whoa!
It’s my turn. Then the clever fisherman pretended to talk to the genie and tried to find a way to put him back in the
bottle.
Haha. And then, the genie opened its mouth and tried to eat the fisherman.
Hooray! The fisherman defeated the genie!
Great! Now, let’s talk about what will happen next in the scenes
In the end, the fisherman fooled the genie and put him back in the bottle!
Then he threw the bottle back into the sea and went home happily.
Wow! A happy ending.
Now let's discuss who will play each character.
I like fishing, so I will play the fisherman.
You are the tallest in our group, so you can play the genie. Do you want to
Wow! It sounds cool! I will try my best.
I am so glad to be the narrator. Now let’s write the words we say.
The Fisherman and The Genie (A Play)
Scene One [At the seashore.]
Narrator: A fisherman saw something surprising in his net.
Fisherman: What's this shiny thing Oh, it's a bottle! I
wonder what's inside.
Narrator: The fisherman opened the bottle. A great cloud of
smoke came out, and it became a genie. The genie opened
its mouth and wanted to eat him.
Sample:
The Fisherman and The Genie (A Play)
Genie: After years and years of waiting, I finally got out. Hahaha!
But I am very angry. You prepare to die!
Fisherman: Wait! Wait! Please! You’re so powerful. When I set you
free, I saw that this bottle is very small and you are so big.
Can you do magic I can’t believe it.
The Fisherman and The Genie (A Play)
Genie: Stupid people! Of course I can. I will go back inside and
come out again to show you.
Narrator: As the genie became smaller, the fisherman quickly closed
the lid.
Fisherman: Now you will stay here!
Genie: Ahhhhh! Let me out!
Narrator: The genie shouted, but it was too late. The fisherman
threw the bottle into the sea. He went home happily.
Perform the play in class. Then vote for the best performance.
